I built my first Clod Buster for customer in 1988 while working the hobby counter at playco toys in California. It took me 36 years to finally buy my own special edition which I will be building this year. I love the way they just bounce around. Hopefully we get a light sprinkling of snow sometime this month.
There is something perfect about the way they drive. So very much like the old, rigid and kind of clumsy original monster trucks it was designed after! They clank and rattle just right and no matter where you drive them they are fun. I will say they do seem to be built for the snow! You will enjoy having one and watching it rumble around!

The Clod is always great fun to run in the snow, it was like it was made for it. I could have spent all day jumping it and sliding it around out there!

Yes, the Clod is the go-to pick for fun snow running! We originally had about 7-8 inches of snow but over the week it had melted down to the 3 or 4 in the video and it was the perfect amount and consistency to have a lot of fun in! I also took out the 3s Granite and boy was that a blast too. It was shredding the snow! That will probably be out tomorrow. Take care Mark and have a great week!

Yeah it was a blast jump it over the pipes of the track! the snow was just perfect for it. I am trying to kick it but it is really kicking back! LOL! We are all feeling a bit better every day but it is slow to leave.

@@AddamsPlayground I broke the steering servo on Orange Crush just be fore the snow. It was supposed to come in on Friday but got delayed. King Yellow was out yesterday with the plow which is a great time.

The first thing i want to do when it snows is get a truck out in it. Sadly I was feeling awful still and what time I did spend doing anything was working on clearing it off the road, the walks and the cars which really drained me. So it took all week to get out there with anything! It worked out great as we had about 7+ inches to start with but much of it had slowly melted down and i was out on 3 or 4 inches with a crunchy base so just about the perfect setup for it.

Building up the Tamiya kits is most of the fun of the hobby for me now. I just love going from parts trees to something running around out in the yard or on the track. Yes, it worked out great! We got about 7 or 8 inches of snow but over the week it melted and packed down some so there was only 3 or 4 inches out there and it had mind of a crusty bottom so I could not have asked for better conditions! So much fun watching it jump and bumble around around out there. I am glad you enjoyed it!
@@AddamsPlayground We got loads here, not sure but over 1 meter and -10 C but now it will be closer to + 10 in the coming days. And all that snow will melt and cause havoc for cars and houses. I'm glad i live in an apartment :) I was planning on getting my Sand Scorcher out but now i have to wait.

Yes, everything has been a bit buried for a week! It was the perfect conditions to go out and have some fun with the big guy. These Clod Busters are so much fun in the snow, lots of fun in general but almost like they were made for the snow! I also got the 3s Granite out for a run and that was even more fun! That's awesome I'm always astounded every year how much snow you guy's get and how deep it gets that would be 3 inches on the ground i wish it snowed here especially at the cabin that looks so much fun bashing around in it even just staring out the windows at it would be fascinating to me keeping the house warm must be a task though nice run mate clod buster looked great out there I'd always imagined this is what they were designed for 👊
The snow is something else! As a kid you wanted the deepest snow possible, now I just want enough to make things pretty and drive an RC in and not have to do a lot of extra work!! It is pretty but too much makes for a lot of work! I still love it and the Clod seems to be made for days like this and it was so much fun out there with it. It was a load of fun and the best medicine I have gotten all week! The Clod just seems to have been made for the snow, they are always fun out there in it! I get it being one to want but not one to get right away. They are big and not the cheapest of kits but they are a lot of fun when you do turn them loose and rumble it around in the yard!
Snow is the perfect invite for RC fun! The Clod was fun and I also took out the Granite 3s and it was really ripping it up! I am sure the TXTs were a lot of fun and I would to have loved to see the Kraton out in it
The stock Clod Buster get a lot of flack for its in perfect 4 wheel steering, but in snow its one of the most fun RC cars I have and drive and bounces around just like you would expect from a 80/90 real like monster truck. Its very like the Lunchbox in that respect just about anything else drives better, but very few RC cars can put a bigger smile on your face when you take them out and run them.
I agree, perfectly imperfect just the way it is. I tis just like the big old heavy framed and kind of clunky driving original monster trucks it was modeled after. They did a great job making it very realistic whether on purpose or by accident I love them. One of these days I would love to build up a really nice custom Clod build with the lean chassis and all reenforced axles with fast motors but every time I start adding parts to a cart I get sticker shock and run away! LOL!
@@AddamsPlayground Yeah last time I priced up all the parts to build a second fully upgraded clod I ended up buying a Tamiya Bruiser kit instead as I realised it was actually slightly cheaper and I had always wanted to build one and I have no regrets about adding a 3rd expensive trail truck to my collection to go with my 350 High-lift and my Trail Finder 2. All of which have clocked up 10's of miles of run time each out walking around Scotland, so at least for me they feel like good value purchases as like the Clod Buster they get me out using them in the Winter months as the crap weather makes them more fun to drive in the mud even if clean up afterwards is less fun :-)

Oh, that would be an awfully good one out in the snow! We got a dusting of snow Friday evening but just enough to brighten up everything that was already there. It needs to melt off as our road has turned into a ice rink! LOL! Get out there with the Summit, you'll have a blast!

LOL, not traditional therapy I don't think but I was loving it. I won't lie, I was out there in shorts and a hoodie the whole time too! I do not mind the cold at all, now earlier in the week when i had a fever I was not loving it as much. I am feeling better a little more everyday. Gotta love a Clod Buster!! I've got one, admittedly it's heavily modified but boy is it a lot of fun to drive, and always gets a lot of laughs and great comments when I race it at my local off-road club here in the UK. Glad to hear you're feeling at least a bit better dude!!
I would love to build a nicely modified one but once I start piling all the parts needed into a cart I get sticker shock and run away! LOL! One of these days though! Yup, there is no missing those friction shocks clanking around! It was just perfect out there for it and I had loads of fun jumping it around all over! I am sure they have sold millions of them over the years. I would say something like the Hornet would probably be their number one of all time. The Clod is one many could not get their parents to buy them growing up so i would assume one of the less expensive but super popular ones like the Hornet would lead in sales volume over time.

Me and a buddy are taking the dirt bikes out today, of course me being me, has to also bring an RC truck. Couldn't decide which one to bring until now, Clodbuster it is!
I have wanted a snow plow for ages. I have the Blizzard with the snow plow but it needs to have the metal tracks and about 3 pounds of weight added to it to make it functional LOL! A Simpsons, Mr. Plow Clod snow plow truck would be pretty cool!!!
Perfect car for a snow adventure! but it does bring back some 'bad' memories... I got my first Clod back in the 80s.. right when it came out.. I was sooooo disappointed with how bad the suspension was.. all them shocks.. expectations where very high.. I was expecting a bad ass truck.. but it was more like a clown car on steroids.. 😂
It was a load of fun out there with it. I understand the disappointment in it but they honestly really did a great job modeling it after the monster trucks of it is time. None of them back then had the plush suspension of the ones today, most were still rigid heavy duty truck frames with heavy steel body real truck bodies on them so they still had very stiff and kind of limited suspension. I do see where you would have been let down by it though. You see all that shock and think you can jump it off the house where it was better suited for hopping off the curb! LOL!
Yeah the big tires and 4wd make all the difference. I remember the first time I ran my stampede in the snow. Had two little rear tires trying to push the giant front tires rolling up snow like it was building a snow man! 😂
Yeah it is not going to win any races out there but it sure does fun, bouncy monster truck stuff well! Reminds me of watching them on TV as a kid with those old stiff and bouncy chassis they used to have!

Last I could get used to a video everyday from you After work tonight I actually went outside and snow blowed my driveway and some of my neighbors it was nice to get out but I didn't drive an RC I love hearing those friction shocks I need to get mine out now
LOL, don't think I am going to be doing one a day! An occasional treat for sure but not a habit! Nice of you to help out the neighbors, I cleared our neighbors driveways with the tractor when we first got all of it. All of us have fairly long driveways that nobody is going to try and shovel so the tractor does the hard work, I just try and stay warm on it! The Clod Buster seems to have been made for the snow as it is the first one I want to grab when the ground gets covered! Always fun to watch it slide and sling some snow around.

LOL, Clods and the snow just go together! It was a load of fun out there with it! Watching it jump and rumble around over everything was great. No issues or breakages, it was actually about 40 degrees (4 C) out there so it was cold but not make everything brittle cold. The big guy just did fun monster truck things and I was having a blast watching it! Take care my friend!
They are a perfect combination! It is the first one I go for whenever it snows! I should have gone with the 19t or 17t motors when I built it but got suckered into the 23t just because the labels were blue and matched the truck LOL!

Clods are always fun, but I can't help but wonder how it would run with some hot brushless motors in it. You should have taken out your losi promoto lol, more like a kyosho blizzard.
They do ok handling the power, it starts to become a problem with the chassis and the steering bits as faster moving mean a lot more jarring around and impact on all that. Typically you only see them with fast motors when they have been beefed up a lot and usually chassis swapped. I thought of the promoto but figured it would just dig down and get itself buried a lot. I did grab the Blizzard but have not gotten out with it yet. I did take out the 3s Granite right after this and it was ripping around well out there! I will have that video up shortly!
@@Khris_1013 The Homes Hobbies Retro sport motors were a great option as well but they just started adding timing to them so unless you can find the older ones that kind of killed that as a cheaper option. It looks like Amain still has the 19t ones in stock for $15 each.

Yes, the Clod is the go-to pick for fun snow running! We originally had about 7-8 inches of snow but over the week it had melted down to the 3 or 4 in the video and it was the perfect amount and consistency to have a lot of fun in! I also took out the 3s Granite and boy was that a blast too. It was shredding the snow! That will probably be out tomorrow. Take care Mark and have a great week!

Very cool! It's always so much fun to get the RC cars out in the snow. I've just been too lazy lately to do it because we have had snow on the ground here for a week
The first thing i want to do when it snows is get a truck out in it. Sadly I was feeling awful still and what time I did spend doing anything was working on clearing it off the road, the walks and the cars which really drained me. So it took all week to get out there with anything! It worked out great as we had about 7+ inches to start with but much of it had slowly melted down and i was out on 3 or 4 inches with a crunchy base so just about the perfect setup for it.

Yes, the Clod seems to have been built just for this! It is always a lot of fun seeing it slide around and just rumble its way through it. i could have spent all day out there watching it jump over everything out there! Building up the Tamiya kits is most of the fun of the hobby for me now. I just love going from parts trees to something running around out in the yard or on the track. I am glad you had a great time building your kit! Careful, they multiply! LOL!

Yes, it was really great just to get out of the house and not be doing snow removal stuff or getting firewood into the house. It really was eating it up out there and I could have spent all day watching it jump the pipes of the track and off the ledges!

Yes, it worked out great! Yes, everything has been a bit buried for a week! It was the perfect conditions to go out and have some fun with the big guy. These Clod Busters are so much fun in the snow, lots of fun in general but almost like they were made for the snow! I also got the 3s Granite out for a run and that was even more fun! The snow is something else! As a kid you wanted the deepest snow possible, now I just want enough to make things pretty and drive an RC in and not have to do a lot of extra work!! It is pretty but too much makes for a lot of work! I still love it and the Clod seems to be made for days like this and it was so much fun out there with it. Snow is the perfect invite for RC fun! The Clod was fun and I also took out the Granite 3s and it was really ripping it up! I am sure the TXTs were a lot of fun and I would to have loved to see the Kraton out in it
The stock Clod Buster get a lot of flack for its in perfect 4 wheel steering, but in snow its one of the most fun RC cars I have and drive and bounces around just like you would expect from a 80/90 real like monster truck. Its very like the Lunchbox in that respect just about anything else drives better, but very few RC cars can put a bigger smile on your face when you take them out and run them.
I agree, perfectly imperfect just the way it is. I tis just like the big old heavy framed and kind of clunky driving original monster trucks it was modeled after. They did a great job making it very realistic whether on purpose or by accident I love them. One of these days I would love to build up a really nice custom Clod build with the lean chassis and all reenforced axles with fast motors but every time I start adding parts to a cart I get sticker shock and run away! LOL!
@@AddamsPlayground Yeah last time I priced up all the parts to build a second fully upgraded clod I ended up buying a Tamiya Bruiser kit instead as I realised it was actually slightly cheaper and I had always wanted to build one and I have no regrets about adding a 3rd expensive trail truck to my collection to go with my 350 High-lift and my Trail Finder 2.
All of which have clocked up 10's of miles of run time each out walking around Scotland, so at least for me they feel like good value purchases as like the Clod Buster they get me out using them in the Winter months as the crap weather makes them more fun to drive in the mud even if clean up afterwards is less fun :-)

Oh, that would be an awfully good one out in the snow! We got a dusting of snow Friday evening but just enough to brighten up everything that was already there. It needs to melt off as our road has turned into a ice rink! LOL! Get out there with the Summit, you'll have a blast!

I would love to build a nicely modified one but once I start piling all the parts needed into a cart I get sticker shock and run away! LOL! One of these days though! Yup, there is no missing those friction shocks clanking around! It was just perfect out there for it and I had loads of fun jumping it around all over! I am sure they have sold millions of them over the years. I would say something like the Hornet would probably be their number one of all time. The Clod is one many could not get their parents to buy them growing up so i would assume one of the less expensive but super popular ones like the Hornet would lead in sales volume over time.

I have wanted a snow plow for ages. I have the Blizzard with the snow plow but it needs to have the metal tracks and about 3 pounds of weight added to it to make it functional LOL! A Simpsons, Mr. Plow Clod snow plow truck would be pretty cool!!!

Perfect car for a snow adventure! but it does bring back some 'bad' memories... I got my first Clod back in the 80s.. right when it came out.. I was sooooo disappointed with how bad the suspension was.. all them shocks.. expectations where very high.. I was expecting a bad ass truck.. but it was more like a clown car on steroids.. 😂
It was a load of fun out there with it. I understand the disappointment in it but they honestly really did a great job modeling it after the monster trucks of it is time. None of them back then had the plush suspension of the ones today, most were still rigid heavy duty truck frames with heavy steel body real truck bodies on them so they still had very stiff and kind of limited suspension. I do see where you would have been let down by it though. You see all that shock and think you can jump it off the house where it was better suited for hopping off the curb! LOL!
Just ran my 2wd Stampede in the snow yesterday. It didn't run near as well as your Clod Buster. Fun as heck though!
Yeah the big tires and 4wd make all the difference. I remember the first time I ran my stampede in the snow. Had two little rear tires trying to push the giant front tires rolling up snow like it was building a snow man! 😂

After work tonight I actually went outside and snow blowed my driveway and some of my neighbors it was nice to get out but I didn't drive an RC

Nice of you to help out the neighbors, I cleared our neighbors driveways with the tractor when we first got all of it. All of us have fairly long driveways that nobody is going to try and shovel so the tractor does the hard work, I just try and stay warm on it! The Clod Buster seems to have been made for the snow as it is the first one I want to grab when the ground gets covered! Always fun to watch it slide and sling some snow around.
Clods are a ton of fun. I do wish tamiya would re-re the bullhead again though.

LOL, Clods and the snow just go together! It was a load of fun out there with it! Watching it jump and rumble around over everything was great. No issues or breakages, it was actually about 40 degrees (4 C) out there so it was cold but not make everything brittle cold. The big guy just did fun monster truck things and I was having a blast watching it! Take care my friend!

They are a perfect combination! It is the first one I go for whenever it snows! I should have gone with the 19t or 17t motors when I built it but got suckered into the 23t just because the labels were blue and matched the truck LOL!

Clods are always fun, but I can't help but wonder how it would run with some hot brushless motors in it. You should have taken out your losi promoto lol, more like a kyosho blizzard.
They do ok handling the power, it starts to become a problem with the chassis and the steering bits as faster moving mean a lot more jarring around and impact on all that. Typically you only see them with fast motors when they have been beefed up a lot and usually chassis swapped. I thought of the promoto but figured it would just dig down and get itself buried a lot. I did grab the Blizzard but have not gotten out with it yet. I did take out the 3s Granite right after this and it was ripping around well out there! I will have that video up shortly!
What motors do you have in it
I have a pair of Team Brood 23t motors in it. Nothing super fast but much better than the stock ones.

@@Khris_1013 The Homes Hobbies Retro sport motors were a great option as well but they just started adding timing to them so unless you can find the older ones that kind of killed that as a cheaper option. It looks like Amain still has the 19t ones in stock for $15 each.
