Without the wingtips, the romance of air travel is oozing back through the glorious desert heat! Reminds all travellers of those glory days of transiting in Dharan or Bahrain to & from Europe & Far East!
thank you for watching and commenting. I agree with you, I remember the seats before the new livery change of Saudia was in grey and lined with darker grey which was a bit odd. there is a good number of MD90's along 15L/33R in RUH as well as these seen here near 34C at JED.
Ah the 747-300. The model I flew on the most as a child. I truly appreciated flying on its upper deck Horizon Class (i.e. Business Class) on the JED-JFK route many times back in the 90s. At this point in time I've flown on the 200, 300, 400, and 800 variant on different airlines. Basically all except the 100 and SP.
they have been retired for months now. you could see most of them stored on JED during taxi.. It was my last flight o a classic 747 (ie 741, 742 or 743 for SV). the 400 is still in the flee most are leased, eventually they will also be retired, I assume when the 77W have all been delivered.
this video just came as a stark reminder that the 743 is no more with saudia. On their heydays The 747-300s were a regular on the RUH/JED-DAC route, the route i used to fly most often. Thanks a lot hmasurg for sharing this beautiful bit of memory. Always loved your captures. Best Regards.
Thanks for uploading this video , this made me feel nostalgic , used to do RUH-MAA-RUH on these classic birds !! that old cabin seems to have served millions of pax !! Hope someday the 77W will be deployed to the Indian Subcontinent !! i thought RUH was the resting ground for SV's MD-90's i guess they are still basking off runway 33R-15L ??
what do u exactly do, to become come to know such info. are u a saudia member for this fully detailed awareness of smallest details! Hats of for u man!
very interesting video... unfortunatly the 743 is the only variant of the B747 series that I never had opportunity to try...despite air france used it for long time...until summer 2006. then they sell two of their aircrafts the mahan air which is still using it.
Lovely choice of music for this "remembrance" video, if I may call it that. The design of the 743 is at least in my opinion superior to the 744 mostly due to the wingtips having the unique antennas. I'm surprised to learn from the description about SV having inferior F-class product on their 744 as compared to the 743, usually airlines opt for the similar type of products throughout their cabins. The "JED graveyard" as you so adequately put it is a sore sight for my eyes, no aircraft deserves it
here are the B747 variants that I already experienced: B747-100: Air France, Sabena. B747-200 combi: Air France. B747-400: Air France, Cathay Pacific, EVA Air, Saudia. B747-400 combi: EVA Air... and one attempt failed: B747-8i of Korean Air :(
This beast will be missed
@John Tamesis thank you for your kind words. Yes the classic 300 were one of a kind.

My favorite bird in the sky is a boeing 747 of Saudi Arabian Airlines.
I just select those I like and feel suitable for the video. Thanks for watching and commenting.

How can u say it's your 'personal LAST flight'? Are they being scraped? Where'd all the SV B744's go?
Good bye b747 💔🥺
