I find being told "you're only atheist because you want to sin" by someone who believes their sins are forgiven because they believe in one specific imaginary being incredibly annoying
Actually, they're only Christians because they want to sin. If they do wrong, then all they have to do is ask "Jesus" for forgiveness which they always receive (if your invisible friend refuses to forgive you, then you have very serious problems). For that matter, they anticipate that they will inevitably "stumble", so they depend on repeated forgiveness; they literally have no motivation to try to do better. And if they wrong someone, no matter how grievously, they just ask Jesus for forgiveness and everything's good now, except they never ever make any effort to make things right with whomever they had wronged (I actually caught two creationists laughing at how much they had wronged an opponent, one saying, "I'm going to have to really pray for forgiveness for that one!", but with never a thought of any kind of apology to that person). In sharp contrast, an atheist will be motivated to try to do better and to try to right his wrongs.
They can't see or understand "sin" is a made up concept to control people with fear. It's like a parent saying to a kid I'd you don't eat your veg thiers no pudding.

He will be held accountable. Those who do good will win heaven. Cruelty, injustice etc. are punished. This is the unchangeable law of Allah. Denial channels do not change the existence of Allah. My position has always been. “You don’t get to make up some shit and then put the responsibility on me to prove it true or false. No. I refuse to participate in that game. Bring provable facts or it is on you to reevaluate your beliefs.”
"Why do you care what other's believe?" Simple, because what other's believe is being used as a reason to oppress other people. As justification for controlling others. Counter-question: why do you need others to adhere to your beliefs?
Earlier this evening, I had a lady tell me that southerners are less racist because they're more religious and do what the bible says. I couldn't get into a discussion about it because my parents were there, but it was all I could do to keep a straight face.
You should've just asked them why the Southern Baptist Convention was formed. For those who don't know, it was because the Baptist Church didn't agree that Baptist religious leaders could enslave people and still be religious leaders in the Baptist Church. So, a slavery-supporting Southern faction split off from the Baptist Church.
No. 9 at 13:34 "What if I [an atheist] am wrong?" Here is what I, as an atheist, have to say to that: If there is a god in the christian concept, then that god is all knowing. So what am I supposed to do? Should I start attending church regularly, giving my money and possessions to the church, pray regularly, read the Bible, witness, and do all the things christians normally do--all the time just going through the motions and in my mind not believing in any of it? God knows I am simply putting on a charade, so am I any better off?
exactly! I didn't choose my brain-wiring. Our brain wiring determines what type of music we like/who we fall in love with/what we find funny & laugh at and so forth - to include whether or not we are convinced in the existence of the god/gods we are exposed to over the course of our lives.
@@RePlayQ Great comment - that makes a lot of sense! Using poetry and parables (which are not intended to be taken literally anyway) are the worst ways to convey critical information - such as how to avoid eternal torment for example - 😨because they are by design going to be adapted by different people with various agendas and end up morphing into something with a completely different intent & meaning over time. Not to mention all the other religions out there. Suppose the Christian is wrong? Or maybe, if there is a God, it just doesn't care. It set the universe in motion and the rest is up to us.

Apologist- All things must have a cause. Me- So what caused God. Apologist- Nothing caused God. Me- God must be no thing if he didn't have a cause, according to what you originally said.
Only reason they say God must not have a cause is because if it did, there would be infinite regression. Something logically has to be the first step of causality, and they say it must be God. That's pretty much as far as I remember.

As soon as I saw the title I thought of the one I hate the most and it ended up being two of the Top 10. "You actually believe in God but you hate him because you love to sin". @@anthonymitchell9793 no, the person saying to you "You actually believe..." I put it in quotations as it was a response to what was being said by the third party. That may not have been clear. My fault.
The entire Christian religion revolves around absolving sin. That's why I love to spin it and say you believe in a God so he can forgive the sins you love to have forgiven.
Apologias are defenses. Before the word became a synonym for 'I'm sorry I did/said this or that' it meant a defense of one's position, that included explanations (not justifications or excuses). But when they don't bring any new arguments to their position, they do sound like a bunch of people who can't defend their proposition.
The frustration is that so many theist claims have been deconstructed and debunked over and over and over for decades. Most religious scholars are well aware of the faults, errors and proven fallacies of their religion. However, every Sunday morning, some Priest, Rabbi, Minister, or Preacher stands at the pulpit in front of their congregation and makes the same false claims over and over and over.
Most atheist debunkings are totally irrelevant to the argument. Atheists don’t actually refute anything, they will just refuse to accept what is being argued. For example, atheists will provide asinine pre-scripted responses for Fine Tuning- Anthropic Reasoning, like “the puddle analogy” which doesn’t disprove Fine Tuning, but gives them an excuse to refuse to accept it, with some bogus hypotheticals, whilst never invalidating the logic.
Exposing the theists and their fallacies is essential. Even thou these callers will seldom entertain the critique, these conversations do wonders for the audience. Lots of viewers will see themselves reflected in the caller and will see the errors in their logic.

Once you obey the gospel, you start to be renewed by the Holy Spirit, giving you ultimate proof the Bible is true when your heart is transformed.
Having a God would make one much less moral because you have a handy excuse for anything you want to inflict on others and a handy excuse to forgive yourself without ever having to face those you’ve wronged or do anything to correct your wrongful actions.

If atheism is a religion, then "not playing sports"... is a sport. Religions have inspired more than their fair share of completely nonsensical statements and claims.
I would respectfully disagree, although I think the argument has merit. An in depth examination of the Qur'an reveals that the Qur'an is not humanly possible. Clear evidence of the Creator.
@logicalmuslim1590 like all religious text, it should be treated as a guide rather than free from errors. With this is mind, the assetion that Qur'an is clear and free from errors unfortunately cannot be true or be demonstrated or be demonstrated to be true for several reasons. Whenever I have asked Christians to demonstrate the truth of their statement, they usually fall back on one of the following: 1. The original text was true. It is the translation that introduced ambiguity. There is an element of truth in this statement. So, any translation cannot be literally true by definition. 2. We do not understand God. In other words, I know it is ambiguous, and I cannot resolve it so I am going to use my get out clause. 3. You have been corrupted by the non-existent Satan. This is the get out clause when everything else fails. There are elements of each of the above when it comes to resolving ambiguity or disagreements. The term hadith states that ambiguity should be rrsolved by referring back to the original text or we do not understand god. If this fails, it treats anyone who questions statement as being a deviant or corrupted by Satan. So, all three of the fallback positions are present. In terms of why your assertions cannot be true: it is easy to confuse a statement being logically correct and being true. A statement such as: 1. All people over a hundred years old are millionaires. 2. The person next door is over a hundred years old. 3. So, the person next door is a millionaire. Is logically accurate but not true. So, something being clear and without error does not mean that it is true. We know that the Qur'an has taken many ambiguous passages and events from the bible and Abrahamic religion. Therefore, by definition, the text cannot be unambiguous. There is also of Sodom and Gomorrah which, in all likelihood, was a natural event retold in religious context. This retelling was not changed in the Qur'an. There are a number of other events that are mentioned that simply could not have occurred. When text or events are copied, it also usually passes on issues with the original text.
@@katnissstohr6705 excellent question. If you only consider the amazing mathematical feature of surah Al fatiha, you would see that it could not be coincidence nor was it possible to calculate the math prior to computers. The Qur'an is impossible to imitate.

Once you obey the gospel and repent of your sin Jesus will reveal Himself to you(John 14:21) you can have ultimate proof the Bible is true if you are renewed by the Holy Spirit.

#8 response is some hit and a huge miss. Canada is a socialist country, the governement in Canada oppose it's people far less than the government in America does. Most of Europe is socialist or quasi socialist. Again most of the governments there are less oppresive than the American governement. An interesting note, the equal rights amendment in the USA has not been ratified. That is absurd. Basically, there is no right for woman to be treated as equals to men. We only need rights when oppression happens, thus, when oppression against women happens as in women do not have the right to terminate a pregnancy, there is no way for women to fight that as in there is no equal rights amendment.
"Canada is a socialist country, " Nope... Canada is a federal parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy, Do you even know what socialist means?
There are no socialist countries. There are no countries where the workers control the means. This is a terminological problem that I am constantly running into, because the word basically means whatever people want it to mean at the time they use it, instead of what it actually was set down to mean. It's the destruction of language, ugh.
As a Canadian we are definitely capitalist. Probably almost as capitalist as the US. Nordic countries also aren't socialist, they are social democracies. Anywhere between 40 and 70% of workers are employed by the government but this employment exists within a capitalist framework.
The “life without god has no meaning” gets me the most. Living to worship a god sounds really meaningless to me. Even if you are a theist, you are just picking a meaning for your life. No more objectivity to it, and personally that “meaning of life” sounds like dog shite. My theist family and I live basically exactly the same, putting the same value on family and the arts and beauty and literature, it’s just that I don’t think that there is a god behind anything. So, practically speaking, we live the same. They just think they will be conscious forever which to me diminishes the value of this life that we know we have.
Theists are the only people who believe that, I dont subscribe to there ever being nothing. Time as we recognise it may have begun at the Big Bang but that doesn't mean that there was nothing beforehand. I'm not even convinced that nothing is possible.
Why couldn't the universe have existed forever? Why do gods have to be put into that gap? Its not even "gods", most of these ppl are Monotheists and they go straight to assuming that there must be one God and that god is their specific god from their religion. But there are other hypotheses and options they are ignoring such as multiple gods, gods and goddesses creating the universe etc
The source of the concept of morality and ethics is evolutionary awareness. Step 1. A source of basic awareness evolves (say a light sensitive cell) It prefers either avoiding the light. That is a basic version of good/bad/right/wrong. Step 2. Awareness inevitably evolves into primitive understanding. Without these two, morality and ethics cannot exist. Step 3. Awareness, understanding inevitably evolve into empathy, they cause morality and ethics to evolve. You can see this process from extremely primitive to highly sophisticated in virtually every species on earth.

Thing is, apologists are going to keep using these arguments 1) because arguments are all they have as evidence and, importantly 2) because the apologist's audience isn't atheists. Their goal is not to convert us, it's to reassure and entertain theists. And one thing theists have long been conditioned to want and enjoy is repetition. Repetition of scripture, prayers, hymns, homilies, platitudes, and these days, apologetics. Don't grapple with difficult questions, never admit error either personally or within scripture, just give them something familiar and comforting and they'll go home with their faith intact. Job done. And let's not forget the apologist's primary and most important target for all these arguments: themselves. You can't retain souls for Christ if you can't keep yourself on the pew. Turn your arguments inward and bolster your own belief before redoctrinating others. That's why these arguments will persist. Not because they work on skeptics, but because they work on believers.

The two things I’m so tired of hearing are “you were never a true believer”, and the converse accusation, “everyone knows there’s a God”. So basically, I never really believed, but I really do believe!
As a variant for Number 4, “There is no knowledge without god”: In a world where there is no god, it would be a true statement to say, “There is no god;” a false statement to say, “There is a god;” and both statements cannot be true simultaneously. So we’ve just established identity, excluded middle, and non-contradiction without god. Thus, logic is independent of god and does not require a god and with the ability to use logic, we have the basis for acquiring knowledge.
Since when has Christianity ever been based upon anything more substantial than blind faith? To me, it is obvious that nobody has, or can, be saved from a fate that cannot possibly be real. When your brain dies, you're gone. I didn't need Forrest Valkai to tell me that, because I figured it out for myself decades ago. The NDE claims of the 90s didn't explain the sad fates of severe stroke victims.
My answers for number 9 are similar, but not quite the same. The way you phrase it here is a bit different from my take. So, what if I'm wrong? Either: God is good, and will understand that I'm only engaging in the skepticism He put into me and made me to use, and as such, won't punish me for being logical. Or: God is not good, and will punish me for "failing to believe", in which case I may suffer torment but I have the moral high ground, and that's a comfort in itself.
What about option 3: God is using religious texts to test our goodness and love for each other and the only ones that lose are the people that think it's okay to kill and enslave people who believe differently because their holy book says so. If I was God, those people would have something to answer for.
@@user-on6uf6om7s I would say that sort of fits into the first category, but on the other hand, if he's doing that he's not a good God. So I'm not sure how to categorize it if I do right, and get rewarded, but God isn't good because he still punishes people other than me who don't deserve it.

Simple, because what other's believe is being used as a reason to oppress other people. As justification for controlling others. Counter-question: why do you need others to adhere to your beliefs?

Equally frustrating is the consequences of that practice.
The misrepresentation and villanization of truth/science is a detriment to humanity.
Exposing the theists and their fallacies is essential. Even thou these callers will seldom entertain the critique, these conversations do wonders for the audience. Lots of viewers will see themselves reflected in the caller and will see the errors in their logic.

An in depth examination of the Qur'an reveals that the Qur'an is not humanly possible.
Clear evidence of the Creator.
@@logicalmuslim1590lol!!!!!😂
@logicalmuslim1590 like all religious text, it should be treated as a guide rather than free from errors.
With this is mind, the assetion that Qur'an is clear and free from errors unfortunately cannot be true or be demonstrated or be demonstrated to be true for several reasons.
Whenever I have asked Christians to demonstrate the truth of their statement, they usually fall back on one of the following:
A statement such as:

"Canada is a socialist country, "
Nope... Canada is a federal parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy,
Do you even know what socialist means?
You know Canada is a country in North America, along with the United States and Mexico. America is a continent, not a country.
There are no socialist countries. There are no countries where the workers control the means. This is a terminological problem that I am constantly running into, because the word basically means whatever people want it to mean at the time they use it, instead of what it actually was set down to mean. It's the destruction of language, ugh.
Most of Europe is definitely not socialist. That's not what socialized schooling or healthcare means. Most of us are in fact capitalist societies.

Hi there, TV's and Internet's Forrest Valkai! I like listening to you talk about smart stuff.
That's generally why the Christian preachers here ignore my questions about preaching.

So basically, I never really believed, but I really do believe!
Look, mom! I'm on TV's The Internet!
As a variant for Number 4, “There is no knowledge without god”:
In a world where there is no god, it would be a true statement to say, “There is no god;” a false statement to say, “There is a god;” and both statements cannot be true simultaneously.
So we’ve just established identity, excluded middle, and non-contradiction without god. Thus, logic is independent of god and does not require a god and with the ability to use logic, we have the basis for acquiring knowledge.
1. It's not no good, it's nougat!
Exactly

Around this time of year, I get annoyed when some flavour of Christian tries getting all righteous in some general setting or forum with, "Let's all remember the reason for the season...."

I've always found it funny that white Christian conservatives really _really_ care about the birth of a middle-eastern baby.

JOHN 3:16-17 READ IT!
Every single one of these was amazing, great compilation, I honestly can't pick a favorite, so good! But Forrest telling terribly hilarious jokes and making ASMR noises takes the cake 🤣 we need an entire short (long) of him fucking up, please!
I'm just here to hunting for the CDF (Christianity Defense Force) comments. You know, "Believe on Jesus", "Book name 12:89 God said this and that, there's the proof", "your lack of belief offends me and i must defend jesus and god", my personal favorite is the, "well you were never saved". I know they're here. Lol.
Y'all please feel free to give me your favorite CDF lines. 😂😂😂
And I was searching for "Jesus Loves you" 😂
No man I don't need love from an imaginary entity. Your God blindly loves you😂

Great video. Would be great a pt2 where you go through the most common answers using the Bible:
Prophecies and all the "historical proofs" and all the "there are many studies saying the Bible is true".
The moral argument is pretty bad. Fortunately, both Damon and Apot have admitted that it's shite, by saying that certain actions would be evil even if God permitted them, although Surly Edith has yet to do so.
Why must Theists prove to you child grape is morally evil? Why?

just give them the usual flerf answer---nuh uh
What I’m tried of hearing is apologists arguing for the utility of religion. Utility is the reason to believe. Keep in mind that most of these utilities can also be acquired without having to subscribe to a dogmatic religion.
And stop trying to use bible verses as "proof" as if they mean anything to anyone that doesn't believe in that book and god in the first place. It's idiotic and pointless.
True. It's a mythological book of angry god fairy tales.
I have proof of miracles, the Holy Spirit, and God. No verses needed, you can see it firsthand

As I always reply to them:
If it's ok to have a creator without a creator then it's equally OK to have a universe without a creator.
If it's ok to have a designer without a designer then it's equally OK to have life without a designer.
If God can exist outside time then it's equally OK if the universe as a quantum singularity existed outside time before the big bang.
If god can be moral by nature then humans can be moral by nature too.
Etc etc...
"You just want to sin"
Uh, yea. A lot of things you call sin, are normal, everyday parts of the human experience. Things such as pride, greed, gluttony, lust, sloth. What else is a sin? Vengeance? Perfectly normal and healthy. We all celebrate stories of fathers getting vengeance on someone who hurt their daughter, pride and greed are what make the world go round. If you can't feel pride for your achievement, or have greed to motivate you, then why do anything? Sex, sloth and gluttony are self-obvious.
I have to disagree, for example things like pride and greed are some of the biggest drivers of religion.
Riiiigght. The meaning of a Christian's life is to placate an angry God so as to avoid an eternity in Heck. That sounds a lot like saying that the meaning of deer's life is to avoid being eaten.
There is CLEAR evidence for GOD. He’s right in front of your faces 🙂↕️

"You just want to SIN!"
Sin is a wrongdoing to self, others and/or to the planet.
I feel no desire to hurt myself, others or the planet.

Great presentations but why are there no women giving their opinions?
This was not intentional. We sent out a notice to all our show hosts that we would be recording these segments at The Freethought Library during this year's Bat Cruise, but unfortunately none of our female hosts were able to make the recording.
Women are to keep silent in this world.
@@ThroneofDavid8 "Women are to keep silent in this world."

I bet you are an InCel aren't you...? Never been with a woman I bet...

You are proof that religion is a blight on humanity...
Why does it matter, when you know there ARE female hosts. Are you seeking offense where there is none?
This seems to be a common occurrence these days.
I would like to see the words reasophobia and antirationalism popularised, it never seems to be mentioned?
@@ThroneofDavid8
The only way someone like you can get a woman is if the woman has no choice in the matter.
Which is why you want women to have no choice in the matter.
Occam's razor. The simplest explanation is that universe (or universes) have "always" existed and will exist "forever". No creation at all. No need of any mental gym to define and detail any process of creation. Moreover the same concept of "time" is very human and illusory. Without mass no time, different references different time, absolute time doesn't exist, etc etc.
The foundation of a lot of religions would fall apart immediately.
