from my understanding he was getting a lot of harassment from how he normally speaks so decided to use his other voice so he doesnt have to deal with it which is a shame cause I actually prefer the way jeff normally speaks.
Your original celebi build (with Exeggutor EX) winding up being the one that's not losing to everything really reaffirms my trust in your impressive deckbuilding skills. Stellar video as always!
The best version of celebi is the one with exeggcute 1x, exeggutor EX 1x and exeggutor 1x. Wirh exeggutor counter mirror matchups or Pokémon that take a lot of energy. Everyone in tournaments now uses this version. Source: limitless tournaments
The lists cutting leaf suggest that you're just fine having eggs ex Stomping people and seems to be more consistent then relying on celebi flips. It seems crazy to cut leaf but I'll try it
@johnaucoin699 this deck has no walls (non EX, high HP pokemon) to swap into. You never want to sacrifice superior, and it's your only pokemon worth 1 KO. So its often just worth it to keep doing damage with Eggs EX until it goes down. Only way you lose is if your opponent fully charges 2 mewtwo or mew EX faster than you AND you don't already have 1 KO. Or you can lose if you're against Blaine. But if you're against Blaine the Leaf won't help anyways.
This quickly became my favorite video of the week. It’s great to get a concise snapshot of where things are at in the meta. Your hard work is greatly appreciated
These vids are the best content on RUclips. The new voice is relaxing, but for what it's worth Jeff, I also like the excitement your normal voice portrays. No preference one way or the other, both are good, do you man.
As someone who played Aerodactyl EX in that tournament, the reason it's so strong is because it gives you a powerful EX for random matchups while not adding a basic to the pool, letting your Hitmonlee and Marshadow be consistently available. Aerodactyl EX's ability is usually useless, but it does come into play notably against Golem and Machamp, making for a good fighting mirror and otherwise similar matchups. It can also sometimes stifle stage 1 walls like Exeggutor and Koffing if you go first, although that's not too relevant with Druddigon being the wall of choice.
Thank you for the explanation! I was wondering why Aerodactyl was in that slot instead of Marowak, who seemed more consistent to get due to Pokeball getting Cubone, but if you'd rather get Marshadow or Hitmonlee that makes a lot of sense!
I do honestly thing that Aerodactyl will get replaced in those lists as soon as we get a decent basic fighting ex, though at the same time I could see Aerodactyl being used in decks where that potential new ex is the main attacker (though that likely won't come until Regirock or Hariyama)
Love these videos! Been following you since MTG. Love that you have a professional presentation voice vs the energetic/confident streamer voice (which we love). Shows how talented you are and how much you actually work at the production of these weekly videos. Cheers mate
The game has had the most interesting meta any card game in recent past has had. Coming in as yugioh player it's really refreshing for me. I tried live at one point and found pokemon tcg did not feel as nice as this.
Love this Meta report vids. Gives me so many ideas on how to improve my decks in general. Since I don't always have all the pieces to outright copy builds.
I was really hype on Aerodactyl fighting aggro originally, but I feel as soon as ppl start teching Blue and potion it becomes miserable. Every breakpoint is super tight on Primeape and if you don't KO, you've now wasted your Marshadow revenge.
I'm surprised with the voice change ngl. I'm really sorry that some people hated your voice. I honestly liked tho, I feel your enthusiasm in your videos so it's a bit sad you changed just because of your haters. I'm fine with this voice too but it would be better if you do you, just be yourself and ignore the haters. I'm here because of your analysis and deck building which is the best among other creators. Anyways, thanks for another meta report! 🙌
This new voice style isn't bad and I understand why youre trying it out, but I def enjoy you're regular high energy voice bettter. It's more exciting and gets me pumped to try new decks out.
@ yeah, cool to see aerodactyl deck doing good even if its not for its ability at all, finally a good fighting deck against pika, wished we could say the same for darkness tho
Great video (as always)! Also, as someone who likes the Celebi EX art, I am happy to see the newer build of a Celebi that can hold its own in the current metagame
Glad to see Blue stonks going up. I noted how good that card was in the trailer for Mythical Island and it has largely been slept on, but has won me many a game. I'm still missing a 2nd Garde, so I never thought of playing it in the M2 deck, by your explanation makes a ton of sense and I will definitely run Blue there once I get that elusive Garde. Im turbo proud of myself for cooking Primeape/Aero EX/Marshadow on day 1 of the expansion and now seeing it get use and success in tournaments. Again, Primeape is so overlooked but it's 50 damage over Farfetch'd's 40 has been huge and applies so much pressure on the opponent. From my testing, Exeggutor EX is definitely Celebi's best partner, but the deck is still sort of copium regardless. Oh and I'm very surprised to see someone daring enough to run only one Snivy. I think that's a bit risky tbh (I see the logic - you only need one Serp. But an extra Snivy as fodder or early game stall or Sabrina protection is important). Anyway, I liked and subbed a few weeks ago. S tier content. Great work!
Fantastic meta roundup, as usual, Jeff! 9:09 what would be a good replacement for the Red Card and Fossil fodder in the Greninja Mew deck? I can’t image a world where either of those are slot optimal. Some combination of Potion and/or Geo, maybe?
12:39 Actually, you don't need 5 water energy to hit for 160 if Mew EX copies Blastoise EX. You just need 2 water energy on top of another 3 energy of any colour. Of course, your point still stands that you would need to be playing water energy but it's worth to point out it is not totally unlikely with Mew EX and Greninja sometimes being played in the same decks.
i like my aggro double celebi/OG executor ex deck with only 1 line of superior (the lizard is just a win more imo). celebi ex n og executor ex are very energy efficient. it's hoping your coin flips are lucky. 😅but it's a fun aggro deck for me. i like gambling on coinflips, like my coinflip only electric zapdos/stepping eevee/jolton deck. 😅
I feel like the Aerodactyl tops were really not that heavily dependant on Aerodactyl itself but the rest of the deck being very fast and consistent, with Aerodactyl just cruising along for the time being.
My favorite part of this week is that Druggidon did not seem to be literally everywhere in the lists... at least towards the start of the video. I didn't double check to compare between this week and last week's video, but I came away from last week feeling that it was literally everywhere. This time it was here and there until it was the off keta stuff where it was seeing more play.
11:04 I've been running this deck while swapping the 2 potions for a volcarona line and it's been great, obviously the gyrados matchup is still bad but if I get lucky I can get some wins with Volcarona taking out the Magikarp or just getting key damage on the gyrados
9:08 I remember discussing this deck live with you and chat and the consensus at the time was that Tauros was better because it's not an ex and helps in the Pika matchup. We were only talking about a split between the two tho, going all in on Mew and adding Expeditioner was not even considered. I currently play the double Tauros variant a lot, I'll have to test this one too.
Missed a few streams and videos due to holidays, but didn't expect to come back to ASMR Jeff of all things. Not sure about the reasons (guessing the video has been registered extra early or late?), but sounds good!
I don't understand why there is a helix fossil in that Greninja, Mew, Druddigon deck. He doesn't run chatot so it doesn't reduce the number of cards in deck or anything?
One thing I'd like to see the meta move away from is how every single deck I or anyone else makes seems to have to include 2 Prof Research and 2 Pokeballs Essentially, every deck is a choice of 16 cards, not 20
Would be nice to know total deck numbers bc % evaluations like this vary drastically depending on how many decks say 6% is for the golem, vs top cut like only only one deck was played for it basically so the 2% was one deck implying 6% is 3 decks and two of them just didn't make top cut? Cause that's way less of a dramatic difference than "67% drop off"
I think stage 2 pokemons work best as support rather than the main focus of the deck due to the inherent consistency issue with stage 2 pokemons. And this is backed up with the success of gardevoir, greninja, and surperior, as well as the downfall of golem and charizard.
if you find that “the voice” helps your performance metrics, then fine, but if it doesn’t, I hope you go back to just being yourself. I subscribe here and on twitch because of the first class content and analysis and you seem like someone whose head and heart are in the right place with regard to others.

what happened to charizard? is bad now?
Mew EX is really tough for it. Can't solo games anymore.
One thing I'd like to see the meta move away from is how every single deck I or anyone else makes seems to have to include 2 Prof Research and 2 Pokeballs
Essentially, every deck is a choice of 16 cards, not 20
That will never happen. This game is clearly designed for those to be core cards everywhere.
Really liked your calmer voice in this video
This meta breakdown was brought to you by NPR

@HooglandiaPocket ty, must've missed that!

Yep.
Why different types of mankey for the first deck?
That's just what the sample list had. Doesn't seem to be a clear consensus on which Mankey is preferred. They all have various up and downsides.

Running two stage twos is way too inconsistent, plus Garde isn't really necessary with Zam given his relatively low energy use imo
@ two stages two so mysterious slab can consistently draw, also sigilyph is draw too - 2 prof 2 ball 2 sigilyph 2 mysterious slab = 8 draw card.
Garde is amazing engine
@ i normally use sigilyph out front to start drawing and churning out the deck , put 2 abra and 1 ralt on the bench
