it's like legos but mroe useful..
To me self assembling it has the added bonus of knowing how and where to diagnose problems.

I’m currently looking into getting a CNC Mill like this. Granted it’s at the high end of my budget, but is this good in your opinion?
I’m not too crazy about needing a laser (especially without air assist) and it didn’t seem like this came with many milling cutters (end mills, engraving bits, face mills, etc), so I don’t know about that tradeoff.
I’m rambling a bit, but basically:
1.) Can it do Aluminum out of the Box?
2.) How has it preformed overall for you?
Sorry about this rambly question, and either way great video!

(Also my other options were the 3018-PRO or the 3018-PROver (hopefully v2, but may have to settle for v1 if USA doesn’t get restocked)
Cheaper also means more milling cutters or accessories for the same price so that is another factor to consider i guess.

Overall I'm very happy with the performance on non-metal materials out of the box. Cutting aluminum out of the box is fairly difficult and I wouldn't recommend it. The Genmitsu 3020 Pro Max might be a better option for aluminum although it is more expensive. I'm making a review for this machine soon.

It’s almost Christmas and I’m thinking of dipping my toe into cnc-ing, I’m looking at this model for guitar builds. I know it won’t fit an entire body, but would I be able to cut out layers of wood for the body? Like sections

Yes you could do this in pieces, as long as the pieces are each smaller than 30x20cm. I also have a few videos comparing various desktop CNC models (some larger than this one) so those might be a better fit.
