They easily could have gone the Jealous Evil Bitch™ path with Luciana and write her off as villainous/spoiled/entitled, but instead they made her polite and sweet. Even if she and Ro aren’t close friends by the end, they at least have mutual respect for each other. In this household we stan female characters not being petty and catty towards each other.

it's easy to miss really (at least in the German version hahaha) watched the movie so many times but I only got her backstory after someone on RUclips pointed it out

Actually no, her first husband died from heart failure. After that, she probably remarried and then after she heard Peter had a son, then she decided to try for a daughter. Which she succeeded.

The one thing I always noticed, and surprised they didn't mentioned (or they did and I missed it), is that most of the characters have strange face colors. like Barbie's mom, pretty orangey face compared to her neck, Luciana's coloring makes her look like she has a permanent rash around her mouth and barbie straight up looks like she has pink eye lmao

The main characters call themselves ‘best friends’ in the movie, but it’s possible that Mattel may have been just hiding something (though as far as I’m concerned, I’ve seen no official confirmation from Mattel or anyone involved with the movie that Liana and Alexa are lovers). I remember this being the only Barbie movie I never cared that much. There's too much syrup and the plot is weak. And of course the elephant is awful. (Watching this now as an adult is just uncomfortable and corny. The "twist" in the end about the mother is just so lame.)
My favourite barbie movie was absolutely 12 dancing princesses. It also has some syrup but also darkness to balance it.
