It is joyful to watch. Thank you for sharing.
Not being nasty to any other woodworker but,Izzy, you are my best American woodworker EVER,the wood gadgets you make are amazing
Great idea; I want one for my shop. A couple of flow valves would slow down the clamp and release speed and a regulator would be nice to adjust the clamp pressure for more delicate parts. I like the suggestion of the foot operated valve too.
Gotta say, I like where you are going with pneumatics in the shop.
You had me at "not to put your fingers in it!"
Love the project! I did something similar to this a few years ago but never fully fleshed it out. Maybe I'll have to revisit that...
Dude you are a master of design.
I have missed Izzy Swan videos. Great build.
thank you Marc i am back for a while now ;)
I love it. I'll try and build one as well. I think i would need a bigger actuator for bigger opening.
I added a pneumatic cylinder to my kreg pocket hole jig replacing a toggle clamp. Not only does it make the work go faster it much easier to reach the air control switch than the toggle clamp because you can place it where ever it is most convenient.
The intro to your sand paper shelf project was perfect. Right when I was thinking to my self "why would I build that", it clamped all the sheets down. Nice :)
First i thought this wouldn't clamp well but man!! This this is strong!💪
Thanks for the parts list. Very useful.
It's always a pleasure to watch you in action Mr Picasso 👍👍👍
ha ha thank you
You are awesome dude... I love seeing your face light when you play with your inventions!!!
Iz you are THEE best! I hope all your wildest dreams come true
Man I love watching you work you’re amazing
Glad to see you are back on the Tubes making crazy builds!
I haven’t seen you this happy about a build in a while! This is genius!
My favorite thing about this video is your joy, Izzy. But I have to admit the vice is pretty great too!
awe thank you Lory
Crazy sick , i really want to try this out
Great video Izzy. Playing around with that pneumatic set up could be fun
Brilliant - you make great concepts so accessible!
thanks man i try to keep it simple
Awesome work as always
The man's a genius
Nice build. Thanks for the video.
Awesome vise
Wow!! That's so awesome! Now I want to pneumatic everything
Really cool concept Izzy!
thanks Man
Same old Izzy. On a whole other level than the rest of us. That’s pretty damn clever, man.
Genius, I'm lovin it. Super for doing dovetails.
Молодец мужик!!!👍👍👍
I love the way your mind works ... great video, great idea and great implementation! So glad I stumbled into you channel. Cheers
Izzy, You're the man for this idea I just had. I hate pencil sharpeners because they are so weak. How about building an industrial grade pencil sharpener for the shop. Extra point for making it pneumatic. Thanks brother
Wow, I did not expect the clamping pressure to be big enough but it looks perfect. It's a great idea. Please tell us how long it took until you clamp something by mistake :) . Thanks for showing
I love how you use that giant bear paw as a chiseling mallet. :)
Wow man. Great project.
Fantastic work
Do you think you'll have a look at giving it more range to allow for wider stock?
you can for sure but i very very rarely clamp anything over 2 inches think so this works for me
Awesome Izzy!
great idea , seems to have a really good grip too.
9:15 It's like Tom Hanks' character in Cast Away, flipping the light switch on and off all night, after 4 years on the island.... :)
Always fun and amazing to follow the things you make and build. I am always happy when i see you have logged up a new video. Best wishes from Jan in Norway
I saw your Video and in the next day i built it in my own.👍👍👍
I think we have the same table saw and rip fence. It is a great combination for me!
very cool vise. Top
Hey Izzy, great video. Any info on the pneumatic actuator you used? Seems to take a lot less force to hold wood than I expected.
Cool build man. Good to see you back with a smile on your face :)
good to be back to goofing off again. lol
That's got all kinds of potential. If you're in a situation where pinched fingers are a worry( children), you could add a 2nd switch distant from the first. Require both switches be pressed simultaneously. It occupies both the right and left hands. Safety switches might be aggravating, but it's an easy safety thing. You could also add a pinhole sized orifice or two to slow the action of the actuator. Heck, you could switch between fast and slow action. And orifices would also give options of gentle pressure clamp, or actuate an extra second or so, and get higher pressure clamping. DAng, that thing has possibilities.
There's a video floating around out there of a massive, overbuilt bench. It'd likely be perfect to attach ,well, everything to.
Lemme rummage around for it.
Awesome job Izzy! Really cool vise! 👍👊
Looks like the perfect size for Cigar Box Guitar Necks !!!
Fun stuff Little Guy 😘
oh ya a custom cigar guitar neck clamping device. that would be cool sure wish i knew someone who make cigar guitars
Glad to see you are back at it, making the crazy stuff. Great build!
thank you man it is good to be back
Pretty Cool setup Izzy! Thanks for sharing the video with us.👍😎JP
Nice, i was thinking make something like this one but using eletromagnetic field with an old electric transformer.
If you remove the supply air line with the clamp still hold as long as you don't touch the switch?
You are always coming up with cool things. Great job Izzy
thank you Frank
parabéns pelo projeto um abraço do Brasil
"The trick is, not to put your fingers in it" ! Haha brilliant
You're a madman!!! Love your stuff....keep it up!!!
This is sick! I love it.
thank man good to see you on the interwebs think about you often hope is all going well!
Cool idea. I think I would want it rigged up with a foot switch somewhere.
I'm not sure what your background is but the military would love a guy like you.... you're a genius
dude thats awesome!! YOU are awesome, YES YOU ARE!!!!
thank you Brother
As far as getting your fingers cut off in it... My dad told me as a child.. "Never put your fingers where you wouldn't put your pecker"... Words to live by.
That goes against the teachings of Uncle Bumblef***. lol.
That advice wouldn't help me at all...
some people have a very powerful sexual attraction to blenders. may god help these people
So this is very dangerous for AvE and anyone who follows his rather consistent advice at the end of each video?
So you never eat with your fingers?
Good tip about not putting your fingers in it. Ever wonder why the spinning drillbit always looks like its spinning backward on video?
That IS a good trick. Good advice lol
Some cool stuff Izzy. Love that "finger trick" ahhahahahah
Excellent!!!
Could you design a plane/jointer using only an electric hand planer? Really useful if on a budget
Can I get a foot switch for two handed objects thanks for all you do for us you’re the best
Dude, that is awesome.
thank you brother. Congrats on the big 18 man that is freaking awesome! can you come over so i can rub my computer on you before i upload a video . lol
@@izzyswan lol, thanks man!
And yes.....yes you can. 😆
Sweet! I will have a my little ponies wig waiting! he he he

Hey lizzy, love your stuff, but im having difficulty reading yer right arm. I know 'monster' , is it beasty?
I could see the linear actuator being used to drive a wedge against a slide thus permitting something similar to a fast acting vise the wedge should increase the clamping force, possibly even enough to negate the potential slippage. I am also imagining a foot pedal actuator, that would increase the chances of getting a hand caught in it but, eh, live a little right?
I'm just realizing my concept needs a little tweaking as it won't actually do anything but lock the vise in position, maybe if the wedge also pulls the vise tighter that would work as well, but might require some friction tape or something in order to bite tight enough to really grip a board in the vise
Hey man you gotta check out Fasco Fasteners. You can get better screws than Spax for like 5% of the cost. I used to use spax until Fasco sent me a flyer and sample screws. I'm never using anything else from here on.
it's freaking awesome!
Amazing again.
Use a foot switch at the floor for it to open and close . Its more save and If your both hands ar full you can still use it :)
The nutty professor!
YESSSSS MORE PENEUMATIC!!!!
Builds a "Million Dollar" vice, attaches it to a "Ten Cent" work bench -- this is why I love your videos.
Great power clamp project! For me @ 76 to make one is to late! By the way I love your background music, can you name this band?
Izzy...you are my hero! Haha
Great video
Cool vise!!
nice work!
So how much clamp pressure does have ??? Thank you 🙏
great job
great advice - and super cool vice... er vise.
Haha. If you are worried about getting your fingers getting caught in there, the trick is not to put your fingers in it. Priceless!
once again... izzy!!
If you put a flow control valve on there, you can slow down the action of closing. Leave the opening action uninhibited and it will open fast.
That way at least you have a moment to pull your fingers away before full pressure is on, or quick release if you do get caught.
And keep your psi as low as possible for the work at... hand.
Great idea! It will greatly facilitate the process of work.
That's a smucking fart idea Izzy. Well done. I can see one of those in my future
Very cool
Great idea, especially for repetitive operations. Is your pancake compressor really that quiet?
its not quiet but i turn the sound down when video editing so it doesnt hurtr anyone ears
What’s the clamping pressure? Is it just whatever your pressure regulator is set at on your compressor which for that bostich pancake one like you have I think max recommended pressure is like 90 psi (I have the exact same one) but does it maintain that pressure throughout the time you have it clamped or how does that all work. They Seem powerfully strong enough though, I mean you were able to chisel without any slippage or loss of clamping pressure. Just curious what those actuators are rated at.
once the clamp is closed there is no loss of pressure, it will maitian the pressure till i trough the switch well i would reset the part if i left it over night
280 pounds with a 2 inch bore and 90 psi
Rated at 145 PSI.
Jon Anderson great thank you very much for the info
Izzy Swan doesn’t use a mallet to hit his chisels because his hands ARE mallets. (You should see how he pounds framing nails into hardwoods 👊🏼)
Fantastic build, Izzy, and I've already snagged one of the air cylinders before the rest of the Tool Masters descend and the Amazon bots raise the price! Also, I'm loving the new site! Scott
smart move lol
Genius, and great tips for not getting ya fingers caught lol
Love it.
Wonderful
