This mode made the competitive content (referring to both WvW and PvP) way more accessible to new players. They can't do advanced maneuvers such as targetting behind their character's back, but cutting down on the number of clicks necessary just to pick targets and move camera is a huge reduction in APM overhead. New players can focus on their rotation and make more snap responses. It reduces literal pain as well. Having to hold down RMB just to keep your character facing the same direction as the camera requires you to tense up your hand muscles, and muscles get painful if tensed up for too long.
Additionally, this combined with the fast ground targeting and snap ground target settings is the method Steam Deck owners have found to play this game most intuitively on the Deck. (They also map mouse movement to gyro controls of the Deck to have gyro look, but that's an out-of-game setting)

Am new to the game, in fact it's busy downloading (but i past the point where you can play), first thing i always do in a game is toy with the settings...in GW2 the controls for me was a bit of a nightmare...but with your excellent vid that's not the case anymore.....game also just looks fantastic in this view. I LOVE the Action-Cam. Though I wish we could have Camera-Setting Templates, Profiles, Loadouts (whatever you wanna call it), kind of like Build/Gear Templates. Because switching the Camera settings everytime i switch Content is kinda annoying (that being said that's just cuz im lazy tbh). Anyway great video Kroof

The two issues why I still prefer just a straight autohotkey script based on the old combat mode instead of action camera:
- can set it up to centre the mouse cursor on screen when toggling on/off crosshair
- right click as skill 2 when crosshair on
Sure the second one can also be done for action camera, but then may as well only use ahk. Also allows for other things like scroll wheel to swap weapon and shift+scroll for zoom in/out, but I appreciate that can be done through any decent mouse software.
The first, it's essential to rapid toggle on/off for manual ground targeting and target selection (in combination with usual nearest/next). Having the cursor recentre on screen makes that a lot easier.
If they add those two features natively to action camera then I will happily use it.

I have a question tho, although it makes your left click do the auto attacks, is it still a toggle or do you have to hold it?

do you recommend promote target and autotarget while using the action cam ? or is there a reason to not use them ?
If they could add a horizontal Near/Far that would make this PERFECT since it looks weird when its not centered when zoomed out. I want to center my camera when far and have it to the right when zoomed in.

Will the auto attack skill do automatic attacks with the action camera? If yes, whats the tickbox for that? last time i tried it didnt work
From what I've seen you cannot autoattack in the conventional way, but if you hold down Left Mouse click, it will always fire and *kinda* acts the same way.
I think clicking the keybind for the auto attack instead of left click will activate the continuous chain, but I'm not sure since I don't actively think about it anymore.
@@40.4 as far as i know yes if you press 1 to auto attack it will keep auto attacking whereas left mouse only works while you hold it down.
As a FPS gamer GW2 is unplayable without the action camera
I honestly never could use anything other than Action Camera.
If the game didn't have the option, I guess I'd be forced to learn traditional, 🤮
