10:53 true. When I was in University my depression got really bad and I would have dropped out and probably committed the S if I hadn't started therapy and had been told I needed to socialise. I'm an introvert, so I don't really need the social interactions to get energy, but just being able to speak with someone else about your problems just helps. I personally started by approaching someone who was very nice to me, then they introduced me to their friends, and things went naturally from there.

I don't think everyone *can* be "just queer", because at a point your preferences and aesthetics will not coincide with certain people, in what I agree is that labels should serve to identify who you are and what you're looking for, it's meant to make things easier, and when people appreciate the labels more than what they're there to serve, when they're seen as a goal rather than a tool, that's where they turn into a hindrance, but again, just because they can and have turned bad doesn't mean we should be so quick to throw them away, labels need to be reformed, not destroyed, they're still useful, they're still wanted, and to an extent, needed.
why though? And who cares if my preferences and aesthetics don't coincide with certain people? Besides myself, the only people who should know what kind of queer I am are partners and maybe some really close friends. Isn't everything else just worked out through communication and living life? Labels are reductive and always changing so I agree w/ Frederic !

I've been giving turns to this idea, and I've come to conclude you are under the impression I'm arguing against anyone identifying as just queer, which is the opposite of what I mean: the point I'm trying to make is that barring people from other labels, making one label mandatory, doesn't match the notions of queerness that we have built, it's no better than forcing people into a binary because the issue isn't the binary, it's the forcing part, the adherence to an absolute statement of reality with disregard for others. You shouldn't expect others to conform to the way you decide to live your life. I'm not dreading the idea of labels not being a thing, I'm dreading the idea of forced conformity.
I just think taking away the power to decide who you want to be and how to express yourself is wrong, is'all.
Comes without telling, all this under the notion that your expression isn't at the expense of others.
