    Hi Monte, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!! ❤❤ I have been living here for almost 6 months but have felt trapped in my home because I still didn’t know what all my options were for getting around outside of my neighborhood (except for Uber). Now I feel more comfortable to start exploring.

    Va e ven is awesome, recommend highly to venture through out Merida instead of car.
    Use Tren Maya if you're not in a rush. We took it from Merida to Compeche, and took ADO back to Merida to save time. We walked mainly everywhere. If you have balance issues... stay off Calle 62 and other such narrow streets. Wear comfortable shoes and attire.

    The first time Delta tried this route in December 2017 we all thought we had won the travelers lottery. However, back then the market wasn’t there. I believe this time will be different. 🤞🏽

    • @Mexitplans
      @Mexitplans  10 месяцев назад

      Yes they stopped coming just as we were preparing to move here. I know the market is different now. There are probably more than 100 people from Atlanta living here in Merida.

    Thank You for your helpfully informative video. 👍
    I'm from the ATL and am happy to have direct flights between ATL and MID. I've just arrived Tuesday, May 21, 2024 direct from ATL to MID on a Delta/Areomexico flight was mostly full. We departed the ATL which claims to be the "World's busiest airport", where aircraft are taking off every minute, and 3 hours later arrived at MID where We were the only flight on the only runway. It still took 9-10 minutes to deboard the aircraft. Passing through Customs and out to the Arrivals area was easy comparatively speaking to ATL.
    BTW, I was picked up by UBER straight outside the Arrivals area, which provided a quick ride to the Centro where I'm staying.
    I intentionally chose this time of year, weather wise, to see just how severe the heat is in Merida, México. To be honest; as an old Georgia farmer that has survived Coastal Georgia's stifling heat and humidity and them damned "No-see-um" biting knats; I'm not impressed by Merida'heat index.
    Yes, the recorded outside temperature is well over 100°F, but, that only means "stay out of the direct sunshine." It doesn't mean don't go outside. Stay under shade! Before venturing outside, be sure to apply body powder, preferably a brand that contains cornstarch, wear light colors and a breathable wide brimmed hat and apply sunscreen lotion or wear UV clothing.
    And, if you're using Google Streets and you're walking, be sure to select the "Walking" mode. As You know, Merida is laid out in One-Way streets. So, if You made the same mistake I made, you'll find yourself walking a lot farther than is necessary. 😢
    I agree the sidewalks can be anklebreakers. If I've got one complaint, its the sidewalks. God only knows how many times I've tripped and stumbled walking on those crumbling, narrow sidewalks.
    Keep up your awesome work. I'll checkout your other videos on transportation options.

    I hope one day you can make a video about living in Merida. My wife and I are moving to Mexico this year, but we're still undecided as to where in Mexico we will relocate. I wonder how you cope with the heat during the summer? And is it fun living there? 👍

    Thanks for this! I am traveling solo as a woman and am sooo nervous gradually. I will be staying in Chenku as I didn't want to be extremely close to the mix as I work remote and can use the quiet. I was afraid I'd be calling Uber all the time and not really get out.

      Dang it. I meant to put this in there. The Auto Progreso bus goes every 30 minutes one block from plaza grande to Progreso everyday. The cost was like 40 pesos round trip but it may be more now. Just look for auto progreso in Google maps.
