Harmony is absolutely hilarious, but evil-soulless-monsters gonna evil-soulless-monster. "Harmony, when you tried to be head cheerleader, you were bad. When you tried to chair the homecoming committee, you were really bad. But when you try to be bad... you suck.". - Buffy just 15 episodes ago 😜
So many things to love about this episode, but the whole "at least I didn't mess up a new [book]" gag is just gold. Glad you got some respite from the recent Buffy heartache!
Comedy overload in Disharmony, so many funny one liners and crazy setups. Funniest bit when Lorne says she said reconsider the name Harmony as her singing was so bad. Funny too when Willow and Cordelia are talking at cross purposes. A very clever concept with the Pyramid Scheme for vampires. A great episode. Harmony definitely the most underrated character in The Buffyverse, pure comedy gold each time from High School Airhead to Vacuous Vampire Airhead.
Wesley in the leadership role is an ongoing theme for him. And don't forget his failure in Sunnydale. A lot of it has to do with his father's treatment of him and he's obviously insecure about being leader. And, of course, Angel isn't used to having Wes as the leader, so he keeps doing the boss things without even being aware of it. The writers are definitely making a point with this which has to come around to something later on.
Remember the boy who set his sister’s bed on fire because she got two more marshmallows than he did? That’s what the difference between having and not having a soul does. Harmony doesn’t have a soul. That’s enough reason not to trust Harmony. Angel has a soul. It gives him the capacity for good or evil as any human. But he also has a century and a half of evil to atone for. That makes him more likely to be good. His recent backslide was the result of psychological warfare engaged by a powerful supernatural law firm trying to tear him down. I doubt a human would handle it much better. Many would do far worse. And given his epiphany he’s highly motivated to restore the trust his friends had on him. Spike is like a hostile dog in a muzzle. If he tries to kill a person he gets a head full of electric fire. That doesn’t mean he doesn’t WANT to kill. It just means it isn’t in the cards for him right now. Remove the chip and he’ll return to his old ways. His feelings for Buffy may make his behavior a bit more complicated but evil is still his primary preference. Think of him like an unrepentant serial killer in prison. Yes, he’s not actively killing but it’s not because he doesn’t want to, it’s because he’s physically unable to. I recently read one of those clickbait stories that described the relationship between a woman who loved snuggling with her pet snake. It was a huge snake like an anaconda or boa constrictor. She misinterpreted the snuggling behavior as love. Actually it was sizing her up for a meal. She didn’t realize what was going on until she tried to find out why it stopped eating. It had to be clearly explained to her that it was simply making room for her in its stomach and her willingness to snuggle had been making her very appetizing. I think people watching this show make assumptions about vampires they like and ignore the facts presented. Vampires are not human. They’re demon possessed corpses and the soul has been evicted. They literally eat babies and puppies because they’re tasty and have no sense of wrongness or remorse because that’s their nature. Angel, as far as we know is the only vampire in history that’s different, because he’s cursed and had his soul returned to him. It makes sense, knowing the details, to have some trust in Angel. Possibly more trust than many humans. Harmony and Spike are in no way trustworthy without some major power intervening to override their nature. These are not the vampires that can choose to turn on their humanity and feel or glitter in sunlight. These vampires are literally monsters. They engage in monstrous behavior and revel in it. I don’t get what’s so complicated about that which makes it so hard to remember. 😅
"Remove the chip and he’ll return to his old ways."So why doesn't he try to _do that_ instead of staying in Sunnydale around the Slayer? And don't tell me:"Because he's in love with her." because 1)I can't believe that it's his priority and 2)he didn't fall _instantly_ in love with Buffy...it took time(at the very least it took time for him to _realize_ that)so why didn't he try to go somewhere to remove the chip _BEFORE_ he was too into Buffy?!?X-/
No he tried twice as far as we know. Once teaming up with Adam and the second time with Riley's doctor. He also probable tried to find others solutions off screen because there is no way Spike was like "Well I have chip that prevent me to do all the things I love to do including eating, I guess I'll just learn to live with it and that's it" It doesn't fit his character to be just like that. The only reason we saw him on sceen trying those two times was becaus it was relevant to the plot.@@Nicamon
@@Cedrog "It doesn't fit his character to be just like that."I agree, that's why I keep saying it makes no sense. "The only reason we saw him on sceen trying those two times was becaus it was relevant to the plot." I believe it's *VERY* relevant to the plot to clarify that if Spike doesn't get his chip out is because he CAN'T and not because he STOPS TRYING. There's a *HUGE MASSIVE DIFFERENCE!* SPOILER Also,I honestly _CAN'T BELIEVE_ there is not 1 single spell that can pull that chip out!We know magic can pull a bullet out of a body and to instantly heal it and you can't do the same with a freaking CHIP?!?!Are you kidding me?!?!
Yes, the soul makes a huge difference, but I mean... after the arc Angel just had? Clearly, a soul isn't everything. As demonstrated by actual humans in real life every day.
I suggested this on another Buffy video, but it would be so fun if when you finish the last seasons of the respective shows if you would read the comics since each have a continuation canonical with their shows and they even still cross over with each other too. My library doesn't have them so I haven't been able to read them but I would love to watch you react to them!
Harmony shows very little problem with harming people. It takes next to nothing to get her to switch sides. I get that you're trying to see the good in her and in vampires but they're mostly just selfish and evil and mostly only do good things when its beneficial to them.
Harmony is just...neat. "That's why I suck at evil-I was meant to FIGHT Evil." No, Harmony... you just suck. And the ME deliberately made the last few episodes of Angel lighter this season to contrast the sadness that was the last section of BTVS. You just have to get through the next one.
No offense to Cordelia, but even if Harmony was human and had a soul this would have the same type of outcome. Just as it did in _Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered_ nearly three years earlier. Harmony sees an oppertunity and doesn't go with the heard or right way, but the easy way that untimately screws friends over. Cordelia being upset with Angel doesn't change the obvious.
It's this weird thing reactors have where they grasp at the thinnest of straws to look for good in the vampires. They look at the Spike situation and apply that as the standard.
@@MrSupertallblackman Which is funny considering I like Spike and give him credit for doing good, but I never forgot (even during the initial run) he was soulless. I think Buffy did the same thing with Angel. She forgot that the word "curse" didn't mean he was good. It meant be cautious. Curse is a word that defines punishment. Angelus is being punished by Angel, who is the curse. The second Buffy forgot that it risked his soul, there's always a way to break magic, spell or curses. And Cordelia risked Harmony killing her and worse because she was upset with Angel, not thinking about what she knew about soulless vampires.
The humor in Angel is dryer, while in Buffy it's more goofy or Slapstick like. Harmony was in disharmony with herself. Buffy explained it once to her ('if you try... to be bad - you suck!'). Vampires are selfish and kinda lonely. There is otherwise no reason to turn anyone, cause it will be just another 'pair of fangs to feed' that's in competition for human blood (#hunter-prey-relation). So this motivation cult reaching out to the vampires is pretty logical.

Harmony is basically the Harley Quinn of the Buffyverse.

Harmony is an awesome character. Lucky for us the buffyverse is pretty full of them.
I don't think there's a single character in the Buffyverse that makes me laugh as much as Harmony.
Just wanted you to know that Alyson Hannigan is on Dancing with the stars😊
Cordelia said it in high school... Harmony is a sheep
This is such a funny episode. Harmony always make me laugh. I love when Gunn says "don't we kill them any more?"
The way to Cordelia's heart is through her wardrobe 😂😂😂 And happy Angel is the best Angel! That ending is one of my favourite moments in the series!
I like Harmony's purple outfit. Would like to have such too. Her back looks gorgeous in it. It's mesmerizing.
