He came to power in a Republic in Florence. So he had to get people like him. He did this through his writings and popular plays at the time where he was eventually elected to office.

    If you intensely study the life of Niccolo Machiavelli he came to power in the Republic of Florence. He was not a "hereditary nobleman" with lands he could tax and raise an army. So Niccolo Machiavelli spent his life getting people like and trust him. What the "The Prince" was written for was to gain favor with his most hated rival in Florence the de Medici Pope and for which he eventually did work for them. Even though Niccolo Machiavelli through out his life was a high skilled diplomate and gaining people's trust and favor was how Niccolo Machiavelli made his way in world. He wrote several popular plays at the time which how he came to power in Florence.

    That was a really bold and decisive move when Nazi Germany invaded the Soviet Union, and when Imperial Japan attacked Pear Harbor. In the long-run, however, it didn't turn-out too well for either one of them. Five years later, Germany was in ruins and Japan was the first nation to suffer a nuclear holocaust. I'm not saying that you should never be bold and decisive, but caution is not always a vice -- it might even save your life.

    • @ramyjay007
      @ramyjay007  3 месяца назад

      I wouldn’t call that love. People had a common objective which they worked collaboratively to achieve it. The greatest leaders in history were all feared and respected.
      Fear works to a degree however it’s a double edged sword, glimpses of love are important coming out of respect of course which then creates loyalty that last for a long time.

      Joseph Stalin always kept a copy of the Prince by his side. But he consider a massive failure in lot of ways. Why? Because you need to see the Prince in it's proper historical context which Stalin never did. Niccolo Machiavelli was someone that never really practice what he wrote down in "The Prince". He was known for for being a highly skilled diplomate and writer. Who came to power in the Republic of Florence by his popularity (getting people to like him) by his writings and his popular plays at the time. Okay so Yes, that belief aligns with the concept of Machiavellianism, which often involves using any means necessary to maintain power. And yes, actions characterized by dishonesty and trickery are commonly perceived as unethical or even evil by many people. However to be an effective ruler the following is something that cannot be overlooked/ignored.
      Maintaining stability and order is paramount for the greater good of the nation, even if it requires employing tactics that some may view as unethical. Such actions are necessary to prevent chaos, maintain sovereignty, or protect the nation from internal or external threats.

    Outsmart everyone that do not believe in the Lord. Many politicians use this principle and they were successful but effective only to non-believer of Jesus.

    I don’t agree with his opening statement.
    When your men fear you, they follow you because they have to. They’re likely to jump ship at the first chance they get.
    When your men love you, they follow you cause they want to. And they will follow you to the depths of the earth.
    This is valid in war just as much as personal life or even business.

    Fear over love ? This is based on a misunderstanding of the nature of true love. Many parents truly love their children, and many patriots truly love their country, and many believers truly love their God, ect. The real test of their love is their willingness to sacrifice themselves for this person, state or God. Sure, some will follow and obey others because they are afraid of them, but these fearful people will secretly resent the object of their fear, an given the opportunity, will work to undermine and to even destroy the person they fear. This is why, in the long-term, fear undermines power, while true love works to preserve it. Sure, your enemies should fear you, and even some of your followers, but you better make sure those closest around you truly love you more than they fear you, otherwise, given the chance, they will stab you in the back, and take your power for themselves. (See the bloody history of the Mafia).
