In today's video I discuss a common complaint that many of us have. Shoulder Clicking.
Nothing is more annoying then a shoulder that "clicks" every time we perform an overhead press, bench press, etc. Often, the shoulder clicking is the result of mechanical dysfunction in the A-C joint (acromioclavicular joint). The distal end of the clavicle and the acromion process of the scapula stop gliding smoothly, often from heavy weightlifting movements. This lack of smooth motion often results in a "clicking" sound upon movement.
Dr. Joe demonstrates on his video how to restore normal smooth gliding motion of the A-C joint with a simple and easy technique. This technique can be performed at home and quickly puts an end to shoulder clicks.

You just keep nailing all of my problems that I've had for years. I thought I had tennis/golfer elbow all this time until i saw your Brachioradialis video and now you figured out my shoulder issue... I'm definitely going to go get me one of those knobby balls! Its getting to the point where I can't drive my stick shift car some days because of the popping and snapping. I was supposed to have a "shoulder reconstruction" operation over 20 years ago but I strarted doing the crossover symmetry/iron scap rubber band program which got me like 80% healthy but it still pops and clicks and snaps and it feels unstable especially if I bench press. Flat bar bench and flat bar overhead press are off limits these days. Maybe this is the final thing i need to get fixed up thanks! As a 35 year old ski racer, veteran hockey and football player, competitive mountain biker, and career ditch digger, I wish you were my nextdoor neighbor LOL we would be very very good friends. Every joint in my body is shot to shit lol. I wish i could afford to just have you on retainer to follow me around everywhere I go ha

Tucking your elbows in whilst pressing also keeps the shoulders in a sturdy position, preventing clicking. Bench pressing for example, with the elbows parallel to the body or close to rather than the bar. I think the only reason you wouldn't is if perhaps you have strong shoulders.

Mines grinding after injury 😢 with clicking. Front top of the shoulder like tendon is hitting the bone horrible ive tried stretches to open up the space for the tendons too move smoothly and still not helping waitong for ultra sound mri see whoch tendons ive injured been waiting since february to sort this waiting times are ridiculas. 😂 2 seperate tendons i believe i torn. Bicep tendon and supraspintus. Bicep was tightening up before this injury got bad, and my supraspintus muscle after the injury i noticed was tender, so them 2 tendons gone 🙄. Even though now i have full range motion if i lift my arm outwards with 1kg the sound of the tendon at the front making like a gridning sound at the top end of the motion. Gunna try this method

it was a certain shoulder exercise at the gym, from the next day on (which was 2 weeks ago) I have extremely loud popping sound in my left AC joint whenever I do abduction movements (No pain nor weakness associated) but it gives me a feeling of discomfort rather than the extensively loud sound that makes everyone around tell that I need to see a doctor .. What exactly is the cause of the clicking and what muscle should I train to make it go away?

    • @OcraMedHealth

The cause is usually what I explain in the video. It's dysfunction involving the AC joint.

I had the clicking when i shoulder press, when i bring my hand down, and the angle between the arm and the back goes below 90 degrees, that's when i feel the crack.
When i did your exercise (I don't have this type of ball, so i held it with my hands, which didn't work), i felt a crack at the end of the motion where i rotated my arm from a forward position to an upward position, right when my arm locked into the pressing motion, and again (stronger) exactly when i started rotating my arm from upright to forward position.
Because i don't have this special type of ball, i can't really hold it with my fingers. Is there anything else i can do to solve the clicking? It constantly cracks at this exact position
