"Sunshine of your Love" is definitely one of the greatest rock tunes ever created imho, and Living Colour has payed Clapton homage very well in their cover here!
I love Cream, Clapton and all; but this version is just better than the original to me. It KICKS ASS! The guitar solo is one of the best ever; actually so restrained to start out with, seems to be searching for melodic lines along the way, then gives up towards the end and gets completely, insanely hysterical. The ending notes always make me cut weird faces, which can be embarrassing in public. Great stuff.
i saw living colour live, great band....biggest problem with "maybe" why they were'nt as popular as guns n roses i think was....it was really ear peircing live....all the high pitch guitar squeals , sounds great in the studio.....live it was hard to listen to
This is just sick...and I just sold my whammy pedal and listening to this...I need it back!!!! Ugh...or maybe just a super shifter...one will have to do! Love this cover...hope we can pull this off 2morrow!!
Oh yeah! I remember hearing this on the closing credits of True Lies as a great song to the end of a great movie with a great soundtrack. I copied the rental tape with my RCA VCR 740HF SVHS VCR that was immune to Macrovision and watched it over and over. I had a great pre dolby digital surround system that I played this on: Carver CT 17 preamp, TFM 55 380 wpc power amp, Infinity SM 152 front speakers (102 db sensitivity) , etc., sadly now all since long sold . . .
I always liked this one in particular. I went to school with Eliza Dushku in 8th grade and she was gone for a good chunk of the year to make this movie. Part of her final project in the spring was to talk about the special effects in this movie, even though it hadn't been released yet!
I'm a Living Colour faithful, but I am trying to say this unbiasedly...this is a bad ass cover! Most covers just don't cut it or barely compare to the original. I'm not trying to offend any Cream fans here, but I think this is more energetic than the original and well sung! It deserved better recognition!
I watched the movie just because of that song. And in the movie, Schwarzy's daughter gotta be one hell of a cool girl as she's listening really loud Living Colour \m/
@ramillen12 I listened to this band when I was in High school in the the late 80's. Long story short.... I transfered from a big city scholl where they were known to a small town in Ky. I was the first kid to play living color and all the locals were like " awesome band, that's what american rock sounds like!!! " When I told them the band was all black I got my butt kicked 3 or 4 times. When they learned the truth, they threw their tapes away !!!!
Shame though you do not comprehend the musical genius behind their version of this song. Maybe the base is a little heavy for most but you cannot deny the talent these guys have. Fucking awesome cover !!!!! Just listen to the metal screaming out at you !!!!
Honestly I think this is a wicked cover of the song... Corey's singing is not that much different than how the singing on the original track is, and yeah they distorted the guitar on it but honestly i think it gives it a good sound for their version...can't be a complete copy-cat on Cream's song.... anybody who wants to crack on them for the cover of this song they did come up with a better cover then.... cause honestly this is one of the best covers of the song out
from Jose' Sepulveda, THE HERMETEREC......c'mon fellas....can't we all just get along? Who cares it a band is black or white or Hispanic or what the fuck???? The music is the thing and ANYBODY can rock. Nobody OWNS the music, we all share it and we all have shared IN it, to build it and all have contributed to make it what it is today. Mountain music, hillbilly, delta blues, Tejano.....we all own it. Can't really get behind this rap shit, though....
they did have an influence from cream. well technically speaking, every metal band owes to cream --- their "tales of brave ulysess" sounds aesthetically more metal than later things like black sabbath.
"Sunshine of your Love" is definitely one of the greatest rock tunes ever created imho, and Living Colour has payed Clapton homage very well in their cover here!
living color is the most underrated band ever. They are simply brilliant!
Lembro desta época. Bons tempos de MTV e boa música. Valeu pelo clip do Living!

Great cover. Living Color should've been huge as Guns N' Roses back in the day
i saw living colour live, great band....biggest problem with "maybe" why they were'nt as popular as guns n roses i think was....it was really ear peircing live....all the high pitch guitar squeals , sounds great in the studio.....live it was hard to listen to
Let's do the math
If I was black
I would've sold half
- Eminem
The original song was in a league of it's own, this cover by Living Color puts then in a league of their own.
Outstanding job!
Vernon was A hardcore Jimmy fan ,, but this is Outstanding my god ,, glad to find this treasure of happiness ; )
This is one of the best cover songs I have heard in my life
I am anxiously awaiting Living Colour's new album Shade, it comes out Sept. 8, 2017.
WO! I never knew there was a music video to True Lies. A perfect movie, with a perfect band, covering a perfect song! Thumbs Up if you agree!
"Boy I remember the first time I got shot out of a cannon."
this movie got me here :)
Ahhhhh that solo... sick AF, merciless Whammy...
LOVE this Band !!!!!!!!!
Corey Glover (vocalist for Living Colour) also starred in the movie - PLATOON! :)
Really?
one of there most faithful covers, great
Ozzy's cover of this was pretty awesome. But Living Colour's just BLOWS ME AWAY.
RIP Jack Bruce :(
Volume to max. Speakers beg for mercy by the end of this cover.
OUTSTANDING!!!
Oh Dios! love this version!!!!
This band should still be around. It's a tragedy their not still making music.
this is a great cover
That guitar solo is sick. Rock on Vernon!!!
Best cover I've heard of this song.
I remember seeing them open for the Rolling Stones and I left after they played.
I saw that concert in Dallas (stayed for the Stones). Living Colour did an awesome cover of Should I Stay or Should I Go that brought down the house.
that's crazy... weren't those really expensive Stones tickets?
Cotton Bowl 1989-skipped school to go to that concert
de arrepiar !!
awesome buddy for posting i saw them on my city 2 years ago
Damn, they knocked it out of the park!
Holy crap! Still love these guys!
saw them on the first Lollapalooza tour in Toronto- kicked ass :)
This is surprisingly awesome, hadn't heard of these guys before this. Lucky youtube link ftw!
Awesome!!!!!!
the funky metal version of sunshine of your love...i like it.
Excellent version of a Cream classic song
This is just sick...and I just sold my whammy pedal and listening to this...I need it back!!!! Ugh...or maybe just a super shifter...one will have to do! Love this cover...hope we can pull this off 2morrow!!
I find this inspiring, it blends classic rock with more modern sound and power. I love it, either way.
They're touring the world to support their new record.
awesome cover!
WOW!!! excellent performance
Epic Cover.
awesome !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mars 2018. Its awesome 😊
Jack Bruce loved Vernon and we're band mates in the JB band, Cuicoland Express and Spectrum Road.
Pretty cool. Different but still great feel.
True Lies! Ah the memories of Arnie movies!

Holy SHIT Man!!! THAT .....was Slammin!!!
really good.
The 1 dislike must not like music.......
this rocks good cover nice and heavy
The best band ever and the best play after Hendrix

Depends on how you look at it. In the light spectrum, black is the absence of color, while in paints and pigments, black is every color at once.
This kicks MUCH ASS !!!
9 people are void of COLOUR !!
Goddam what a great cover! And I have heard the original. Twice.
nice points of difference
This is better than Ozzy’s cover!!! Say something!!
Vernon's guitar solo!!!
They are a kickass band*
will Calhoun ftw!!!!!!!!!!!!

@LoveforGia ...unfortnately, this generation doesn't think too highly of different kinds of music and that's a damn shame.
Shame though you do not comprehend the musical genius behind their version of this song. Maybe the base is a little heavy for most but you cannot deny the talent these guys have. Fucking awesome cover !!!!! Just listen to the metal screaming out at you !!!!
they absolutely rock the fvck out of this song !
I wouldn't actually know about that, but it sounds like you know your colors.
I guess there's at least 2 people out there that never seen the Sunshine of love
Maybe I´m not a good knower of music, but this song sounds live "Inagada da vida-Iron butterfly"
@markused It was just a saying like "Who says you can't do this"
i never knew living colour was black till today
limewire, i got it there
I stopped porn for this!Best cover ever,seriously.
pretty sick...
🔥🌱💛🧡🍄🧡💛🌱🔥
@danielhmccurdy yeah let us not be scared by a bit of metal guys and gals! I agree
Who cares what race they were? They were a kickass band. And True Lies was a kickass movie.
@oldtimer225 thx for the news , be well.
@GenericName86 U got that right
@LoveforGia ...his mom is black. In fact, in Slash's Bio, he had a picture of him and his mom and she has that same curly mop hair he has.
Honestly I think this is a wicked cover of the song... Be great for a special feature on a special edition of True Lies.
Its art imitating art.
lucky buggers aren't we :3

@eldudarinodude sick cheers :D
hi.zak boomya love to you
they did have an influence from cream. well technically speaking, every metal band owes to cream --- their "tales of brave ulysess" sounds aesthetically more metal than later things like black sabbath.
@GenericName86 Yeah right and I suppose Hendrix was black too,LOL by the way he also covered this song
Nice videos, keep it up. New release of BRANDON JAROD late OCT. AWESOME!
Fucking monsters of the heavy
@roxydog2004 Shit when Hendrix covered a song he basically remade it and turned it up to 11 no bullshit just rock
@q2alphadog - oops! Should have googled before I spoke.
OH FUCKIN' SHIT!!!
i would like to see eric clapton perform this with them
best revival of cream's classic... though i still prefer the original over this anytime :)

I heard tom morello on lead guitar
@LoveforGia R&B, soul, jazz? you must only be watching MTV.
@LoveforGia ...actually Slash is half black and jewish, but that doesn't matter, cause the man is bad ass!!!
