I bought a RF 70-200 f/4 last year. I came close to trading for the f/2.8, the additional 1200.00 was just too much. I kept the F/4 version with no regrets. With the software now available to process images I am seeing less and less need for a f/2.8 lens. However, if and when I feel I need a fast lens the 50mm f/1.2 RF looks good but it will be used seldom. I am using the 24-105 RF f/4 and the 100-500 RF. as well. I have been debating on a 14-35 RF to round out my Canon line up but so far I have no need.
I have this lens, and it’s sharp! The f/4 is fine, the amount of compression it gives you destroys most backgrounds anyway! I’m thinking about upgrading to the 100-500, because I already have the RF 100 f/2.8
Cuz you've only got enough dough for the f/4 lens. Or you doing need brighter than f/4. Or you don't wanna put up with the weight and girth of the f/2.8 lens. Quite simple, really.

On canons website this lens is currently $1099.00 and at Abe’s of Maine $1299. 😀
yep i see it on Abe's but Canon site i'm looking right now and it's $1499
Correction, the one on canons sight priced at $1099 is for a refurbished one. Not a bad deal though considering their warranty.
f4 is my favorite opening
you should play c4, it's explosive
Fantastic. I think this will be my next lens to add to my kit.
Good choice!
