- Sylvan Lake State Park fifteen miles south of Eagle Colorado has 44 basic campsites situated on a beautiful 40-acre alpine lake. The scenery is spectacular, and the lake creates the peaceful mood of escape. A beautiful 1.5 mile easy trail rings the lake.
The two campgrounds--Elk Run and Fisherman's Paradise--are on a grassy meadow near the lake with few trees for shade. While there are flush toilets and showers available, but neither campground has hookups. The campground also has rental cabins and a boat ramp (electric motors and self-propelled boats only). Adjacent to the lake is a sloped picnic area which provides direct access to the lake for paddleboarders and kayakers.
This RUclips channel is a companion to our website: Colorado Campgrounds--What you need to know, www.coloradocampgrounds.us.com At our website you will find photos of each campsite at Sylvan Lake State Park, campsite details such as views, privacy, degree of shade, distances to the bathroom, etc. If you want access to the premier guide for Colorado State Parks, check us out.

Nice video
Sylvan Lake is a great camping hideaway. Take a look at Rifle Falls SP further west off I-70. It’s another of our favorites.
Steve,
This was an amazing comprehensive video. Thank you!
Thanks for the compliment. Hope you subscribed to the channel where I have all of Colorado’s camping State Parks posted. Happy camping!
i lived there for about 4 months . I worked for the park ranger 4 days and the gypsum plant in Eagle for 4 days . The park ranger Joe Starbuck gave me a a job and a place to stay along with my wife and 2 young children .His cabin and ours are no longer there i see . Boy its nice to see this video all the same .We were there around 97 i think .Thankyou
Thanks for your comments and historical relationship with Sylvan Lake SP. What a beautiful place to live although I could imagine winters could get harsh. We sure enjoyed our stay there.
@@coloradocampgrounds-whatyo7709 Yes it gets a little snow !!!!We left and moved to Rifle Co. in September. I am going to come for a visit one day
Very nice. I look forward to our visit! Thanks man!

Booked at Site #1 in September to see some nice leaf colors for fall! Super excited to put my kayak on the lake. I'll have a great time with my family.
Should be gorgeous. Thanks for using our channel to check out Colorado’s campgrounds.

Thanks! Sylvan Lake is a picturesque. Check out our website www.coloradocampgrounds.us.com late tomorrow and I’ll have details and pictures of each campsite at Sylvan Lake posted. Also, later this year I will be posting Pearl Lake State Park above Steamboat which is similar.
I still have yet to visit Colorado, but every time I watch one of your videos it makes me want to hop in my car and head towards CO. I have a list I started on my Google Maps of state parks to visit, definitely adding this place! It looks so peaceful and beautiful! Thank you for sharing info/views of this campground 😁
Colorado is packed with adventures. I see that you are a backpacker. We have many national and state forests to hike in Colorado with great scenery. My last newsletter featured the Continental Divide trail which offers ~700 miles of backpacking along the spine of the Rockies.
@@coloradocampgrounds-whatyo7709 my boyfriend and I are hoping to travel around Colorado next year, I'll have to watch some more of your videos so we can get a good idea of places to visit. Is your newsletter on your website?
@@wanderlustvalkyrie Yes. It is at the bottom of the home page and can be accessed for free. My blogs are free as well; they are next to the newsletters.
@@wanderlustvalkyrie Also, know that many of Colorado's National and State Parks require reservations six months in advance for the most highly contested campgrounds. For example, if you want a June reservation at Rocky Mountain National Park's Moraine Campground (my most watched video) you must reserve the campsite in December. FYI, our website lists the best Moraine campsites.
@@coloradocampgrounds-whatyo7709 thanks for the heads up! thats pretty standard then these days I think. I'm a park ranger in WA, and state parks here if ya want to camp (especially on a weekends) you have to reserve 6-9 months in advance. I typically do dispersed camping out here because of that, but when we go to CO we might do some state parks/nat parks so we can be close to all the hiking we want to do
What a great video Camping Steve. I'm looking to setup base camp there this fall in my 71' canned ham and I was a bit concerned about it making it in there. It really doesn't look to bad as far as " off-road rough terrain". What's your take??
RoyBomb, you will have no problems getting to Sylvan Lake. The road and is wide and graveled. I had no trouble getting my T@B teardrop in there although it had just rained so my trailer got real dirty. Have fun. It is a beautiful alpine lake.
Camping Steve--can you tell me what hat that is you're wearing, and where you found it? I love it!
I bought it from an art festival in Fairplay, Colorado. It is made in Mexico. In the hatband it says Summit Hat, Houston, Texas
