    Dude your skills are off the charts, seriously your videos are great to watch but the make me feel completely incompetent! Not only have you tackled this build in record time, but you friggin scratch build parts, engines, etc. Unfortunately some of us can only dream. Keep up the great videos, and would love to see some flight footage.

    Have you thought about running an LS6 ? PSRUs have come a long way and the LS platform is proven. Even in aviation.

    • @The-virg
      @The-virg  Год назад +1

      I am not usually a fan of auto conversions in aircraft. I have seen some really bad examples but that said there have been a few that have worked. In this scenario the LS and supporting equipment is over 100lbs heavier. We are running electronic injection and ignition so the ls has very few advantages against a modernized Lycoming engine. I don’t doubt the LS engine itself, it is usually a supporting item that brings them down.

    Did you loctite the oil squiters with medium strength loctite? You dont want squiters in the rotating assembly. Also does this engine have an enhansed oil pump? Does it have hardened valve seats for unleaded fuel? All these are good questiones to ask. Good luck, fast flights and soft landings.

    • @The-virg
      @The-virg  Год назад +1

      Yep all installed per Lycoming manual. No need for an enhanced oil pump. I may have to adjust the oil pressure but unlikely.

    Can this engine run on 100LL also or is it committed to 91?

    • @The-virg
      @The-virg  8 месяцев назад +1

      It can run on both interchangeably

    • @johnchurch2321
      @johnchurch2321 8 месяцев назад

      @@The-virg so there’s no changing anything out? You can fill it with 91 at the house and then fill it with 100LL at an airport and not change anything? If so, you have the ultimate engine!

    H2O anti detonation fluid big time recommend

    • @1911combatcommander
      @1911combatcommander Год назад

      For what? The detonation margins on that engine should be fine. The guys running ADI are pushing 600-800hp out of turboed 540's where the heat from the turbo is a huge issue.

      @@The-virg I've been looking at the model 5 for a while now. I've been told the instructions aren't the best, but hopefully the flying is great. I'm going out to Houston tomorrow to test fly the model 5. I think you also did that recently? I'm excited to see how it behaves in the air.

    why not a modern ECU controled turbo diesel...strong and reliable, more eonomical and watercooled

    • @The-virg
      @The-virg  Год назад

      You can only turn a prop about 2700 rpm. Redrive would be required and most diesels do not like going from 0 - 15000 feet massive superchargers or turbos are needed.
