Lived in number seven, flat 105, with ma cat Toffee in 1984/85 . . . Anyone remember the Viewpoint tenants rag . . . sorry newsletter! I illustrated it, my mate Terry Campbell edited it, had it printed in a tenants co-operative, collated it, delivered it to every door starting from each top floor lift down the stairs then went for a well deserved pint or two (taxpayer funded . . . why not?) . . . in the Oasis! 😺🐶
Mitchellhill Flats was a great community, We were the first family to move in to number 7 block in 1963. Great social life excellent neighbours for about 23 years and then they went down hill with a different selection of people moved in. Sad to watch this film. Thanks
Lived in number 9,flat 102, indoor bathroom ,own bedroom,first time ever and the braies to play on,great place but no shops or pubs till much later,watched Celtic win the European cup there in 67.
I never would have thought high rises like that would have a shelf life here in America lots of skyscrapers have been around for decades its sad that they didn’t renovate them and make them safe although it would cost lots of money
Being single i like staying within walking distance of the city center if i had to move out to a scheme i would pick Castlemilk over any of the others - ive met a lot of nice folk from Castlemilk over the years and having been there i know its no as bad as some people would like to paint it
You literally just described most people that live in Scotland, in closes or tenements because they’re similar. Easy to tell you live in a heavy nice big hoose by itself. A came from red road and it wis apparently such a bad place but it’s Scotland ffs hardly anywhere is good. And if you actually put some safety into your hoose and decorate your hoose nicely along with the amazing view living in a high flat is amazing. Away high up fae aw the annoying wains n nosey arse neighbors, n pished junkies at 4 in the fuckin mornin. Ma pal lives in a high flat 8 up. Neighbors are nice hoose is lovely and the view is amazing. Don’t judge high rise living if you’ve never experienced it for yerself. Because its honestly better than living in a close or tenement when you make it your own.

I was born in block 7 flat 73 in 1976, was a shock to see there was no flats last year when I went back to Glasgow.
