    I have Down syndrome and sometimes it's really hard to get myself out to more social with other people and going out to hang out because I have experienced with being bullied when I was little when I was like nine yrs old and I have been told it's not really easy dealing with it and it's really tough to be able to get myself new friends and to socialize with young people with Down syndrome and I have been raised with special needs and I have experienced with an amazing family that I have and sometimes it's very hard for my mom and my dad had to deal with a lot of stress of how I was going to experience my life independently and I still do a lot of chores at home and I can even do certain things that I can mange on my own and to be safe about it and being confident of who I truly am as a person and I have been involved with being in a relationship with other guys that I was friends with and I still try to understand what's important to be having a great healthy relationship and think about what's really important and I still manage myself to do other things in my life

    Why shouldn't she get married? She has the right to marry just like every other adult and she should also be allowed to become a mother (of course the state and/or her family should help her taking care of them)

      I totally agree, people with Downs Syndrome and other disabilities DO and HAVE gotten married AND have had children, she and her partner would need some assistance but they can do and have all the same things as though who aren't dealing with a challenge. I wish her the best of luck and hope she's able to have all the wonderful things in life just like everyone else. :)

      You clearly don’t know anyone with downsyndrome. Very few can. My brother has downsyndrome and I work with special needs kids. But they can’t really live on there own like that and they can’t raise a family. It’s not that simple.

      I agree! I know of people with Down Syndrome that have gotten married. Even a couple who have been together over 20 years. Whether she would need help is beside the point. Being married doesn't mean others cannot be in her life to assist her as she needs.

      People with disabilities (like my sister) sometimes can’t get married (you can choose if you want to) but they can’t have sex, so they can’t have the risk of getting a child with Down syndrome because it’s really difficult to take care of a child with Down syndrome.

    I know this mother loves her daughter. But to be so negative & to say she will never hv a life like her siblings is just so wrong & discouraging. She is limiting her daughter's abilities.
    And she couldn't be more wrong about that.
    She is capable & it is her right to make a great & happy life for herself. She has the right to be married if thats what she wants. She is adorable

      And who looks after her babies?
      And is that fair for babies to be born to mothers without the intellectual capacities to support them through the complexities of life?
      The mother is a realist who has done and will always love and be devoted to her daughter.

    • @debramartinez8988
      @debramartinez8988 3 года назад +3

      @@Jdjustsaying To say they are incapable because they have down syndrome is the farthest from the truth. This world is full of cruel unfit parents having many children just to abuse them and some even kill them. And they have no legit disability. Of course they will need guidance but I never doubt their abilities to learn and continue to give hope to parents who have children with down syndrome.

    I have always had an affection for these wonderful people ever since I was a child @ primary school I used to look after people that had a dissability as others used to pick on them and bully them so as a big boy for my age used to kick the shit out of bullies and then was reckognised as a bully myself.Guess what? I got letters from school stating to my wonderful parents stating this.To this day I am still the same,I am now 58 yrs old and I mean old and am physically dissabled but I will still stand up for these people as they have a great deal to give to communities world wide.I do believe things are getting better after 100,0000 years so why can we not as a human race face reality and treat everyone with respect and equallity ?????.

    I don't know how limited resources is there...but in Finland most of the people with down syndrome can move to their own apartments, or "group home" when they are 20+, if they want to... so they might have like own room, kitchen and bathroom and joined big living room...and some nurse or other caretaker can be there available in daytime....And I'm not sure at all, but I think it wouldn't be impossible to get married... but kids, I don't know..depends on a person I guess, but ..no I wouldn't like that idea..

There are often young adults with DS there and many go on to have very fulfilling relationships. Its totally possible, don't deprive them of something that is so important to them when its entirely possible and done successfully all over the world.
