  • Whether you are studying big, acrobatic breakfalls, feather falls, or just how to protect yourself from techniques without falling at all, it's important to understand the principle of "floating". If you wait until you feel the technique, it's too late; if you try to predict and get ahead of the technique, it's fake. In between is the natural motion of waves and floating.
This video introduces the principle and how it applies to any type of ukemi practice.
This video was filmed during an advanced and soft ukemi seminar taught by Sensei Guy Hagen and hosted at the Shobu Aikido of Houston Aikido Dojo in Houston, Texas (shobuaikidohous...).
Sensei Hagen is a chief instructor at the ASU Aikido Chuseikan of Tampa Bay dojo, which is affiliated with the Aikido Schools of Ueshiba and Aikido World Headquarters, and provides quality adult and family martial arts instruction in Tampa, Florida.
