Great reaction! Amira practiced this aria at home for long nine years until she felt confident to sing it on stage. Towards the end, where the soprano sings the word "lontana", the syllable "ta" is projected with the high note B5 (last note of the fifth octave). Amira projects this B5 wonderfully, it's long, it's high, it's beautiful, it's on pitch. And then she immediately makes an extraordinary portamento (sliding) with vibrato (vibration) for the syllable "na" with the note B3, two octaves below., without breathing. An absolute queen.

A really emotional experience I imagine that was for Amira...
Returning to the stage where it all began for her at nine years of age singing an opera aria..
And returning last year as this now 19 year old young diva singing a most difficult opera aria...to close that evenings show!
What can one say..
She just brings us so much pleasure with her performances.
I would recommend another one for you, this time from her solo concert celebrating her 18th birthday - her beautiful performance of - Nearer My God to Thee.
It's already on my list. #144. Let's see. That will be about a month from now.

An exceptionally beautiful gift God has given this world in the beauty of this young woman, in everything that is her. Physically, spiritually and that absolutely incredible voice.
"Ebben! Ne andrò lontana" is an aria from the opera "La Wally" written by Alfredo Catalani, performed by Maria Callas. The aria is sung by the character Wally who is expressing her desire to leave her home and venture far away. The lyrics evoke a sense of longing and isolation.
I have commented previously that Callas is Amira's hero.
Wally is planning to leave home due to a thwarted love affair. Usual opera theme!
She is one outstanding singer!

In the operatic genre this is one of the most difficult soprano arias and Amira's performance ranks among the best ever.
That's because she is one of the best ever.
The man who raises his eyebrow at her last high note was her father Gerrit .UK Vet
Even Gerrit, Amira's father, was surprised by this high, unusual note that Amira considered interpreting differently from the classical score. Only musical geniuses can afford such licenses.

Amira closed her 18th birthday concert with this aria, it should be a tad longer, she had to reduce the length slightly for the TV programme.
Her 18th birthday concert is called On my own, and is available from her Web shop, but being in USA you'll need a dvd player that plays African / European discs. The cd and sound stick just has the music without the song introductions and chat. Her YT video Nearer my God to thee is a direct lift from the concert, and worth listening to.
