Sounds like fun. Hey, while you are at it: your type of archery is what artists want to draw, or get inspired by (myself included.) Having access to a library of reference images would be amazing. Especially close ups of hands. That's one of the most difficult parts and a thing I see people get wrong alot
@@regulusmasamuneryuku8657 IT'S FUNNY YOU SHOULD SAY THAT... I have a few image packs in my patreon shop, including hand closeups, but there's also a huge stock image collaboration project which, if they hit their stretch goal, will involve me, a pole, and some archery gear in a room full of photographers, pose reference models, and props! You can find (and help fund) the project here: www.backerkit.com/c/projects/adorkastock/adorkastock-friends-group-poses-for-artists
You helped me get into archery, And whilst not on pole or absolutely slaying with your trick archery. For me I love the slow and meditative methods at the moment. Thank you so much for all you have done both for me personally as well as for both the archery community as a whole. Maybe perhaps I'll pick up a a bow that isn't 3ft long Axle-Axle and doesn't weight as much as a small car! I wish your programme all the best! you truly deserve it and hope maybe i'll join your ranks. :D
As a coach for a Standard Archery Club, I wholeheartedly support you in this. One of my greatest struggles is referring people who are interested in a more instinctive style of shooting than target archery permits, because there is so much potentially dangerous material out there for kids (and adults!) to try to emulate without really understanding what they're doing, or the risks involved. Knowing that there's a community that's going to be able to guide them safely through it from the beginning is incredibly reassuring. If it gets big enough, would you consider going to the next level and doing certifications like other archery organizations? I know I'd like to be able to offer legitimate lessons on the subject in addition to target archery, but I have to imagine my current insurance wouldn't cover it. This may be the Next Big Thing for archery as a sport!
Wouldn't it be cool if we saw this kind of archery at the olympics?! I love watching olympic archery as-is, but wow, what if we got trick shots or obstacle courses? 🤩
I'm so proud to hear how far you've gone! From just doing things for yourself, to entertaining others with your quirky archery and finally starting up a school? In just 4 years?? That sounds absolutely amazing! I really hope it all goes well for you! And maybe when I get some spare time and spare cash in the future, I'll sign up too :)
Good for you mate. I'm 54 only been doing archery off and on for about 2 and abit year's. For me its just finding like minded people willing to throw the rules out the window, not safety rules obviously. Mostly the people i knew at the place i was coached i just didn't fit in. 54 with a mindset of a 16 year old lol. Idk my town is small, i have social enxiaty issues so it's kinda stuck between a hard place and a brick wall. And not yet having transport held me back abit, but soon getting a little 125 bike to go places, maybe i might find something that suites me, idk. But good luck.
What?! This is exactly what I've been needing! In my area every archery club is mostly focused on hunting. Which, seeing as I'm vegetarian, doesn't quite fit me personally And multiple archery clubs that I've lived near (in the USA) have also been NRA-aligned or many people who go are in the NRA. I'm not 100% against guns, but I don't like the NRA. There is an overlap between gun culture and archery and it's not for me Plus of course their techniques and styles would be different in all the places I've mentioned What I love about archery is how majorly ANCIENT it is. I think it's amazing that so many techniques and equipment we use today originated tens of thousands of years ago. I love that we have preserved it.
Personally I like to hang targets in trees run around with my kid telling me what target and either left or right hand and even added various size throwing knives to it. Super fun to do more reflex combat archery. And somehow easier to aim. I can now take time and aim ambidextrous but not nearly as awesome as you.😅
i founded an archery Club in my home town this year and i have Set for me that i will explaine everyone the Pros and cons of what they want to do, but i will never say to someone "you cant shoot that way."
I live in a condo and practice in my 10'x4' hallway. If all you're practicing is your shot, you really just need enough room to draw the bow and get the arrow to top velocity after firing, which means you can be close enough to the target to mostly not worry about missing. Give yourself a sturdy target with a good backstop (don't COUNT on not missing!), some confidence, and light disregard for your own home, and it shouldn't be an issue.
To those that live in a condo or apartment building, are you using arrows with points or suction cups? I wouldn't mind my son (8.5 years old) learning archery, but am very wary of him using anything that can cause harm.
Where can I get that quiver. Oh and you should get in touch with Charlie Greenberg, he is already developing a whole sport of running archery. Check him out folk, he's my favorite RUclips archer and he goes into depth how to move and shoot.
Another type of archery that some people may be interested in is combat archery. The Society for Creative Anachronisms does this, as well as some LARP groups and there's also archery tag. I believe there are clubs that do horse archery as well.
I love your videos, and I would pay to join an online community/course if I had the time to devote, but I wish you had a textbook I could use (maybe paired with references to videos) to go at my own pace.
I'd say a good archer Is one who can go from "zero- to hero" well I mean, make hes own stuff, being effective and hes shots are very precise. But Hey that's just my opinion! Still cool indeed
Personally, if I ever became an archer in the Olympics, I KNOW I’d be throwing some fantasy element in there to make it more exciting. 😂 On a serious note, I have trouble standing completely still due to lower back pain, so if I have to stand for very long, I tend to rock back and forth to ease the pain. I guess I could be the Rockin’ Archer. 🤔
Question: How do you adjust the bowstring so that it's not too tight? I'm a beginner at archery and I've been doing this for more than half a year now. Ik it sounds like a stupid question, but our Teacher said that there is only specific adjustment and tightness to the bowstring that you can't change.
The best place to start is probably at a club, one that concentrates on archery and not poledancing, although I am sure they are fun places too. Trick archery is great, but if you want to get really, really good at it, it's probably best to stand still while you're shooting in the beginning.
Is there a chance you could make a discord? Its easier to communicate that way and lots of people can help eachother via something like that. I mean, I myself has bought a bow but I dont know how to get the correct arrows for my bow...
That sounds really great. I was thinking learning archery from some off your videos. I tried the japanese archery stile on a convention and it was fun to hold a bow. And I kinda have strong arms😂 But sadly in my area there is no one that can teach me how to shoot an arrow
There is an archery store right down the road from me I could probably go there and ask how to obtain lessons. If I wasnt in an area where they're likely to turn it on me 🙃
I think a legit competition of archery where you are scored on three categories. 1. Accuracy (duh) 2. Time, how fast you complete the obstacle course (yes I said obstacle course) 3. Style, make it more interesting than just jumping over a hurdle and shooting, maybe the least scored category but should he incorporated so their isnt a best way of completing a course and allows for individualism to thrive.
Your videos are wildly entertaining and inspiring, but I don't have a backyard... Best of luck to you and everyone else who is going to start learning from you, though.
Ahh awesome! I’m new to archery and have the string slap bruise to prove it! I’m interested in competition archery and target shooting, but learning how to do trick shots sounds super fun also. Best of luck with your launch and maybe I will see you there!
I used to do archery with my dad when I was little. We had some cheap gear and a makeshift target in the backyard. I never lost interest, just never had the opportunity to use a bow again. But now I'm thinking it's time to do it again
That is a challenge, but definitely not an insurmountable barrier! For "standard" target shooting, you could either go with holding the bow in your dominant hand OR simply go for an eye patch over your dominant eye. Both options work fine for plenty of people!
