  • Enjoy our series featuring museum manager, Willy Vinton. The series will feature short videos with Willy, giving you behind the scenes stories and details about our classic car collection, Alaska's motoring history, and more!
The early 1910s were not an easy time for the auto enthusiast in Alaska. The weather and conditions forced innovators to make modifications to engines for motoring in Alaska. Pioneering motorists also used retired vehicle engines to develop make-shift power plants to pump water, or power a sawmill, windlass, and other useful devices.
Also, as a bonus, learn in this episode about Willy's "Half-Fast-T" - a very unique engine modified from splitting a 1917 Model T engine in, yep, half.
