@@WatchJRGo Yes, but what is the bike worth now? Probably double what you have in it. That Porsche-designed engine sounds *so* much better than the normal galumph-galumph Harley Davidson V-twin.
Keep shooting these videos with your dad. You will look back and these will be those priceless moments that you have captured that will be worth their weight in gold.
I like your dad a lot! Old school no nonsense knowledge and very well spoken! He needs his own channel just working on things and talking about his experiences. Reminds me of my dad.
JR, I gotta say I’m envious of you and your pops man. Tell him you love him sometime man, even though it’s not always comfortable doing that stuff. He’s a heck of a man from what we see and what you tell of him. Always fun hearing his stories.
Love these videos with your dad. Mine was a process engineer & I loved working with him. He got me my 1st job doing data entry at a sewage plant, and growing up with him I knew how to read process diagrams, so when time came to tag the pumps & valves & such for the maintenance schedules I was data entering I got the job of crawling the site to physically tag all the parts. This was back in the 80's. So I love the you & dad videos. Brings back good memories. Speaking of memories, it was the scarecrow that wanted a brain, Nick Chopper wanted a heart. Just sayin'... Tell Dad we say hi..
I was laughing out loud at the shredder magnet story. He is so funny and knowledgeable. He is good at explaining how things work. I could listen to him all day.
It's easy to take these everyday type moments with your ol man for granted. I used to love working on projects with my dad. Now it's my son's turn, I will drop everything to help the kid out.
Another 10 out of 10 with Dad Ross. Especially the last 30sec when he’s spinning the tire and John is like “I get yelled at If I did it”. Well, that’s called double standard. Welcome to the world of fatherhood LOL. Can’t get enough when JR and dad are working together. And the stories dad has…keep doing those series JR. Great series when dad shows up.
🤔We know where you got your "Mr. Fix It gene from." Your father is a great teacher. When I fixed my car - even something simple like an oil change or replacing the battery, my dad would say "hope you are wearing good shoes and have money for the bus!"
I have so many wonderful memories of working with my dad on our family cars. Now that he has passed, not a day goes by that I don't think of him and the time we spent together.
These videos are so great with your dad. My favorite thing about Kansas is Kansans. I also love how you said you’d get yelled at for doing burnouts in the garage but your dad can do them! It’s great to be on top 😂
@@WatchJRGo I had a video with my Dad on my RUclips account. For reasons unknown to me the account was flagged and then canceled/deleted/disabled or something. Either way I can't get back into that account and I can't get that video back.
I think most of us would enjoy some videos of just “coffee time” with your Dad - him telling stories and just whatever comes to his mind. However much time you’re spending with your Dad now - spend more. I lost mine last year and trust me when I say that all the houses, cars, trips, whatever don’t replace him.
I liked the way he tapped that bearing into the wheel, and hit bottom the sound changed. The story about the machine and magnets was great, things you can only learn in real time life.
You have to appreciate the time you get with your dad. Specially doing cool things like this. My dad past away 10 years ago when he was 51, and your dad reminds me so much of him. We love to see him on the channel. His stories are pretty cool too.
You and your dad are to of the most intelligent people that I have ever seen love the Chanel and I watch every video on both Channels so keep on keeping on
"I gotta be careful or I get yelled at.." I know the feeling, I'm almost 50 and I still putter off the end of Dad's driveway to avoid stirring up his gravel. :)
I love how you are so authorititve and alpha when you are in your own shop but once daddy is around, you turn into a little boy looking at his dad in awe. It makes me feel all squishy inside.
Well lets hope the leaks are gone. I think you did the right thing with the silicon as I've had oil blow right through the silicon when I didn't wait long enough for it to set. The clutch should be great, watching now👍
As you can see by the comments, we are all glad you waited for your dad to work on the bike. Forget the vid, those moments with him are something to remember forever later on. Cheers mate!
Thanks for including your dad in this video. Keem em comin! Also, can he make a few audiobooks? Would make for great listening when on long road trips (:
One of my favorite bikes was my old 2002 VROD I bought in 2008 with less than 3k miles. I loved that bike and rode it cross country twice, putting 50k miles on it. It was going to need approximately $3500 worth of work to keep it going (steering head rebuild, front end rebuild, clutch, tires, brakes, oil change, etc.) and I couldn't justify spending that much when it was only worth about $5k. Ended up trading it in and Harley gave me $4200 for it which I put towards a new Fat Bob. I still miss it.
My Harley has 85,000 miles on it, and I now have to spend $700 to get it running...well, I hope...I already replaced the Crank Position Sensor, and Coil/Wires/Plugs...still no spark so now new Battery and ECU...plus labor for HD to flash the Key Fobs VIN...ANY bike will cost $$$ to keep it going...JR has to pick up where someone else didn't even start to...whatever it's "Worth"...listen to that sound...and the fact you got it back on the road from the dead proper is priceless...my Harley still needs all new brake Rotors, and Pads...(another $350) but I'm squeaking by without for now. Keep it up JR and please take it on a good long Road Trip with you Dad and Brother before selling. I always wanted a V-Rod. Mine's an Ultra.
A Harley leaking oil is a feature. It's to force the owner to always make sure that it's full, it keeps the oil much cleaner, and it's great for creating a burnout spot on the garage floor.
Vrods are the best. I’ve had 6 and just picked up an 08D a couple weeks ago. Best Harley ever. The Worlds Fastest Indian is the name of the movie. It’s one of my favorites.
I've loved the V-Rod every since it first came out, the first one I saw was at a pool haul that I used to go to and it was being raffled off and I absolutely fell in love with it. I just stood there and stared at it for hours, it was and still is an absolutely beautiful bike (and the old-school Harley guys hated it which made me like it even more, at least at the time they did). If ever there was one that I'd trust buying, it's this one. Nice job getting this one sorted out JR and JR Senior.
I got so much respect from that man from Kansas. He has been around the world. Suriname is a former colony of my former home country (The Netherlands) and I can move there on a dime since I have dual citizenship. But... no my wife won't go.
Great that your dad went to Surinam. Fun fact: Surinam was part of the trade deal that the English and Dutch made to exchange New Amsterdam (which they renamed New York) for Surinam after the second Anglo-Dutch war in 1667. Together with other war reparations
I've wanted a V-Rod for years, finally got to test one at the Harley Factory the year they were discontinued. Was a top trim Muscle model. The power felt great, liked the sound, was very comfortable (mid controls like I prefer) but it just didn't handle as well as I'd prefer. Damn shame I haven't been able to get any Buell owners to sell me one when they are up for sale. Maybe in a few years after I've been working my new job and have some money saved up after being unemployed a couple months.
Always enjoy seeing your Dad appear in the videos....he's wicked smart, and funny as well as fun! And occasionally even acknowledges the camera. Haha Oh yeah, the bike repair was fun too. LOL
