    My hair story is so similar - I had a bad experience with my hair getting chopped off so then I didn't go for a cut for almost 2 years! But then the ends were completely split so it wasn't getting any longer - and I decided to go blonde so it was in really really bad shape. What works for me is a combo of a protein treatment every 10 days and a coconut oil mask every 3 days (and micro trims every 2 months) and my hair is now long and healthy...finally!!!

    Getting layers is the worst thing ive done, It just looks weird on me. also a year ago I use to wash, blow dry, and use heat on my hair EVERY SINGLE DAY. That made my hair super frizzy and brittle. And it would look greasy even though i just washed it. Now I only wash and use heat on my my hair two times a week, just depends. I get hair appointments only when I think I need them. So... Every 4-5 months. But I do trim my hair every 6 weeks (but ONLY the tinniest bit) this has made my hair grow really quick.

    I am so done with going to a salon for hair cuts. I have barely gotten my hair cut in the last three years cause they literally never do it the way I want. I decided a few months ago to get a few subtle layers and my hair is still choppy and you can see every one. Opposite of subtle. I think the best thing is learning to trim your own hair because who can you really trust with your hair besides you? NO ONE

      I agree ! I don't go unless I want my hair styles and even then I cringe at the way my hair is brushed and power steamed with no remorse lol, I am going to beauty school to learn for myself and hopefully perform the art myself. I think if someone isn't 100% sure about how to cut your hair they should decline before taking the chance of ruining someone's hair

    Guys...eat your fruits and vegetables. IT WORKS! Better than vitamins I promise. My hair never grew so fast when I started eating healthier, from just below the shoulders to halfway down my back in one year. Plus the vitamins don't work unless you get your daily nutrients along with them! And yeah! Basically everything else she said.

      Hello :) Anything green or orange are really good for your hair/skin/nails, healthy fatty veggies like avacados. My motto is always eat one green and one orange thing a day, if nothing else (fruit and veggie wise). Hope that helps! Just eat the rainbow lol

    I got my hair cut at Great Clips (yes, now all you ladies with your mouths open get ready lol) one time because all I needed was a trim to the longer pieces at the side of my head and then short layers at the nape of my neck (a very short a line bob). The lady cutting my hair was so great! She made sure the sides were cut only a half an inch (since my hair was basically just the bob that grew out a little) and that the layers were wet before she cut them so she could do them evenly. I loved every bit of how my hair turned out and since the cut was only $15 I tipped her $5 and ended up spending $10 less than a higher end salon I used to go to and still ended up with the same great cut. Sometimes it just takes finding the right salon and hair stylist which can literally be anywhere. It just takes patience and looking for someone who is willing to do exactly what you say. The only time I ever had a "bad cut" was when I was at my previous higher end salon that charged $30 for a hair cut. She was chopping off my bleached ombre ends to up to my shoulders and some bleached pieces were still left and the cut was so uneven that it looked all choppy. One of the other hair stylists at that same salon fixed it for me and was super upset at the original lady who had cut my hair. Just goes to show that not all higher end salon stylist know what they're doing.

    I CAN'T STAND just how much I ADORE your tip videos!! You are so refreshingly honest and give amazingly UNIQUE tips. So many beauty channels keep reviewing the same old tired tips or will throw together common knowledge highlights from a cosmetology class. You give us SERIOUSLY helpful advice even if it goes against the grain, even if you have a difficult time explaining your precise methods or even if someone criticizes you for it. You are incredible for always being true to yourself. Lbh, you are one of the most stunning faces on RUclips, but it's your inner beauty and sincerity that make you shine so bright!
    Thanks a ton Carli, you inspire me.

So I wanted to say thank you for the inspiration you have been in my life!

  • @carissaorzlowski3366

    Just got around to watching this video...
    You're 100 per cent right about the head massaging and hair growth - it stimulates the root of the hair which helps make it grow and it also promotes natural oil which helps nourish and moisturise your hair. It's just like massaging your cuticles which helps your nails grow faster.
    You're also right about (some) hairdressers. Fortunately, I've got an amazing hairdresser who has been cutting my hair for literally my whole life but there are definitely some out there who are jealous of girls with long hair who cut more than is required.
    xx

    I'm a hairdresser and they taught us in school that stimulation to the scalp (like the head scratchers) promotes blood flow. The hair follicles that don't get a healthy amount of blood flow won't grow. So your theory is right!

    I swear, hair stylists for the most part are just women with hair envy. It's like if you have great hair they feel the need to destroy it.
    My hair was down past my hips. It was thick and curly and long. My ex's sister had short, thin hair... she decided one day to straighten my hair. I let her because it's my ex's sister. She hacked off as much as she could before i could get away. Like a fifth of it was then shoulder length. I died a bit.
    I had to cut it all off and my it's past my clavicles. I want it to be past my boobies. :( It's a long wait because i have a permanent green ombre :/ Beauty is annoying sometimes!!

    straight hair is so much easier to manage. sometimes i want to just shave my curls off because of the insane work it takes to keep it healthy. if i had straight hair, i know dyeing it would take less of a toll just due to the composition of straight locks. i love my curls nonetheless, but people that have had straight hair their entire lives will never understand the struggles. Dx your hair is beautiful, carli, but it's okay to wear it curly D;

    Hey Carli, I'm a hairdresser and when you said that Brett scratches your scalp, massaging or scratching any of your body stimulates blood flow and your hair needs blood to go to it in order for it grow, which is why you're seeing results :)

    I used to straighten my thick frizzy curly hair every day, I stopped doing it about 3 years ago and it finally started growing but it was so beyond damaged because I also dyed it a lot too. I've gotten a do-over, though...I lost all my hair from chemo, and it's now growing back just as curly and thick (maybe even thicker!) as before. It's a super dark brown, even darker than yours now. Also it's only like 4 or 5 inches long right now though, and it's so curly, it looks super super short! I honestly hate it, I feel like it makes me look like a boy, and it's so freaking tempting to straighten my hair again, but I have to resist! I don't know how to tame it though :( :(

    I agree with everything your saying, I have the same hair type as you, and have a few more tips for anyone that sees this comment. I have grown my hair from a little past my boobs, to touching the beginning of my butt in 9 months by cutting out all heat as you said as well, (I'll put it into two braids that I saw another you tuber named Vivian V video name is (My everyday hair: Heatless wavy hair) every night before I go to bed, although I too only wash my hair every 3-4 days because the natural oils in your hair also help grow your hair. #2 You want to use a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner (and only condition from your ears, down to the tips) #3 I use 100% cold pressed coconut oil (extra virgin) as a mask with a few drops of olive oil and argon oil too.. saturate all of your hair from root to tip, and put into a tight bun on the top of my head and sleep with it in (also put a towel on your pillow) and rinse out atleast 3 shampoo's to make sure all of the oil is out of your hair and condition the ends the next morning.#4 I take pre natal vitamins for hair and nail growth with works so well and is perfectly safe to do so if your not pregnant. and drink lots of water aswell. Hope this helps someone along with what Carli said, I know how frustrating it can be to get the desired length you want your hair to be, but I can promise if you follow all these steps it will happen for you..just give it some time :-) p.s I don't color or do anything else to my hair, although I was supposed to get the Brazilian keratin treatment done in October I ended up wanting to wait til before summer, so going to get it done for the first time soon. xoxoxo

    I studied beauty therapy in college and scratching/massaging the scalp helps generate blood flow to the hair follicles which helps with providing the hair with all the nutrients and goodness it needs!

    Your cuticles where red because they use MMA sometimes in the salons that's illegal acrylic they last longer that's why they use it and its cheaper and the cuticle oil is just to push back your cubicle and doesn't do anything to it am a Nail Technician just be carful on what you get on your nails love ur hair n ur videos btw 😘👑💇💅

    • @SmallsTrini
      @SmallsTrini 10 лет назад +2

      Not only the MMA. I have some clients that are allergic to EMA as well. Cuticle oil is good for anyone, especially people who have problems with their cuticles. The oil I use contains all natural oils, so it's good for your body all over. After having acrylics, gel or any other kind of nails, your cuticles could get dry and rough - that's where the cuticle oil comes into play.

    As a hairstylist, I am not at all offended. Actually, your story is similar to my own, which is why I decided to become a stylist myself and I actually specialize in long hair and color;) Couple things; not sure if you know, but your GK keratin treatment not only smooths your hair and battles frizz, it aids in repair and seals the cuticle so it prevents further damage and breakage! Definitely promoting longer healthier hair, that would require less treatments in the future. Oh, and yes your little head massaging sessions totally aid to encouraging hair growth. It increases circulation within the scalp and promotes development in the hair follicle. So rub away! I do hope that one day you find a stylist that you can trust. Until then, you're doing wonderfully!

I just watched your video trim at home hair and i went to try it out and i did it. Its not about cutting a whole lot is about just cutting the end. Do not cut more than your ends cuz you will mess it up. I have the same experience at hair salons i tell them one thing and i watch them do whatever they think is "best" which is kind of annoying cuz they dont listen to us. Thank you carli for more tips💜💆

    For anyone who takes biotin or hair, skin, and nail vitamins, make sure you take the recommended dose! The natures bounty ones (pink ones) from Walmart and cvs are my fav and to get the actual amount of biotin it says, you have to take 3 pills a day. I definitely recommend taking a hair vitamin though!

    September 2014, I went to my favorite salon, the same one I've always been to, it was a week or so after my birthday and I wanted a trim for a party or something, my hair was in a good state at that time and the longest I've had it after a long time with short hair, and since she's used to cutting it short she refused to listen to me. She was always stubborn and always wanted to do the cut SHE wanted on me, cause mom has boy short hair and she thought it was okay cause they were friends. I told her only a little bit cause I want to keep it long, and she cut it it at my collarbone, I didn't say anything because of the sheer hatred, disappointment, sadness, and I know she would just humiliate me if I said something. I go to mom and dad and their like WHAT HAPPENED and I point to her and start bawling my eyes out and since then I haven't gone there. Oh and she also refused to straighten my hair.

    Hi! I am a hairstylist and wanted to tell you yes the rubbing of your head can help the hair grow! It brings the blood to your scalp and gets it circulating. That is what feeds the root! Also, Biotin is one of the proteins that your nails and hair are made up of so it helps too! But be warned. ..it can make ALL of the hair on your body grow a bit faster! Not everybody has this happen but enough have....So keep up the good work!

With my clients I like to show them exactly what I'm going to cut just to make sure we are both on the same page. Because I know how it feels to say just a trim and end up with short hair. Lol anyways live your videos great tips.

    You're SO lucky your hair didn't completely fall off after the first time you did the Japanese straightening or the Keratin treatment . I tried a Keratin treatment ONE time and my hair was falling everywhere after one month and it kept falling off for the next 3 months after that. Thankfully, it grew again because I made sure I had a proper diet but I'm never trying those treatments ever again and I stopped using heat even though My hair is wavy and frizzy, I just comb it and put oil and cream on it to keep it in place and I only use heat occasionally and always make sure I'm using an anti heat spray before I apply any heat to it.

    How you're explaining how your layers are cut where you leave the bottom "thick" is how they're supposed to be really lol. If a stylist cuts below your occipital bone in the back of your head they're cutting into your perimeter which would be what you call the "bottom thick layer". Love, a hairstylist xoxo
