It was recorded live and MTV didnt realize what was going on until it was too late before they pulled the plug on them. One of the greatest moments in Metallica history and yeah, this was 1996, not 1986 for those out there that thought Metallica lost it after the black album.

Well what happened was even though it was the European awards performance mtv couldn't re broadcast due to metallica using someone else's material despite being one of the headlining acts at this show. What they did took some huge cahones o to be a fly on the wall in the tv truck during that I heard the organizers had gotten furious tried to sue them which is chump change in there case
