The guitar that James is playing, is made of wood from the garage they performed in and wrote ride the lightning and master of puppets, the fretboard inlays tell the story of them, mentioning the loss of cliff, and how he is still watching over them as the constellation Orion (after the song Orion which he played a major role in writing) if you look up the story of this guitar there’s so many small yet significant details of the guitar
Metallica just rocks... Their gigs are huge sing-along fests and the people are really into it... And these guys are some of the biggest stars on earth and they are so down to earth and humble that it is almost unbelievable... They have to play the music, they don't have a choice... They live for the music and they are still at heart those teenagers rocking in a garage somewhere in LA...
I just LOVE how the live audiences have taken to singing along with the guitars in the middle section. The way the audience participation elements evolve over time at Metallica concerts reminds me a bit of the Rocky Horror Picture Show.
That was just so fucking sick as fuck! They didn’t miss a beat on that song. The crowd participated immaculately and stayed in tune. They are that good rain and all.
It never rains in Manchester (my home city) - apart from today and yesterday... this was in in the height of summer in Manchester. To quote a famous music producer from the UK. "This is Manchester, we do things differently here". I love my city - and I have been to this stadium for gigs - as security and as fans, it is great.
The guys in Metallica are around my age, 60-63 range. They still sound incredible and get around the stage really well. They will be in Charlotte (the area we live) next year and my sons and I are going to attend. Great show, thanks for posting.
You made me remember why Metallica live is so great. Seen them more than ten times all over the world. Obviously in Sweden but also in London, New York, San Francisco as well as Bologna, Italy and Tallin, Estonia.
Greetings from Sweden. Some interesting fact: The guitar that James is using here has an emotional attachment to him. The wooden material is actually from the garage they used to play in when they were young and getting the band started. And the pictures beneath the strings shows them together, but then the loss of their bass player Cliff Burton (rest in peace). Thus ending with the heavenly gate at the end.
I'm new to your channel and you guys are awesome. Subscribed already. I was at that gig. Manchester is a rainy city but that was way more intense. For me it made the whole experience even better. Amazing gig
When they performed in Ireland back in, I think 2004, the end of the concert was rained on and there was lightning in the background ( the Dublin mountains were behind the stage about 10 miles back and the lightning was over there) epic I've seen them 4 times in Ireland and they attacked it every single time 🤟
The guitar that James is using is a very special guitar. The wood on the body is from the wood that was in the garage of the house they stayed in when they made their first two albums. I've always wondered what happened to it after being in that downpour.
Still my favorite Metallica album ever! Got so so lucky to see them live in 1984 while touring this album. They opened for Ozzy and I will never ever forget it!
I was there at this concert guys. Poured down with rain after a few songs into the set! Truly magical and they still played tight and professional. It was Etihad stadium so its usually used for football. Great reaction as always
F.Y.I James's guitar is actually named Carl, named after Carlton St. which was where the band had their first "hq" which was a friend's parents run down garage. The wood on the body of Carl is actually wood from the exterior of that garage.
Travis, Suzy, John, I was there at the concert singing at the top of my voice, soaking wet from the downpour and swinging my t shirt above my head, it’s certainly in my memory book!!! Love your music too, keep it going!!!!

I'm from Manchester and it is called The Rainy City for a reason. Awesome performance and the Manchester crowds are always awesome. Also that's just a light shower to the locals.. haha. Great reaction.. :)
I was there, and when you've lived in Manchester for so long you just know when it's gonna raid. A few songs earlier I was like awww shit it's gonna rain. It certainly did
i was there..flew in from Iceland the same day..next day flew to Copenhagen to go on the Copenhell festival...a whole week of metal..i miss "normal" life
Have seen them a dozen times, first show was 1989, 18.50 a ticket, seen them play in the rain twice, lightning actually split over the stage behind them during ride the lightning at Allentown fairgrounds! Friends & I still talk about it 30yrs later🤘 ~ guitar Jaymz is playing is called Carl, it's made from the wood from the garage they first started playing in as Metallica
James got blown up by the pyro once during Fade. It was almost the end of Metallica. That same night axle being axle decided he didn’t want to play and save the night. Which cause the riot in Canada.
The rain is as real as rain gets in Manchester. Believe me I ',ve been to sports events and it rains harder in Manchester than pretty much anywhere in the UK
I’ve got this mental image now of a gigantic plastic box with a full set of drums, complete w/drummer. Someone points one finger at the drummer to start playing and hollers to the fireman at the fireplug and yells, “Ok! Let ‘er rip!”
I once saw a drummer (Martin Chambers of The Pretenders) playing on a kit where one or more of his toms had a water line hooked up to it filling the surface up to the rim. I think it was at Live Aid. I didn't see the rain in this video at first and thought Lars had the same kind of kit here...
More live Metallica, please....🔥🔥🤘🔥🤘🤘🤘🔥......a stellar masterclass performance in heavy rain by the best band ever ......GOATS...LEGENDS....by the way; a "meagre " 75,000 fans attended that concert
Yeah whiteley1989 I was there too, was an awesome gig, especially loved the pyro and imagery on one. And yes TheWolfHunterz it was real rain, and not a single fuck was given
They definitely keep their instruments. I noticed many of what was used us part if their "favorites". So no, no trashing due to the rain. Metallica is so rich I'm sure they had people take those instruments after that concert and ensure there was not one drop of water left on anything. They are Go-zillionaires!lol! So I'm sure they kept every one. I know the guitars are special. James's is the one made from part of the wood from the very 1st garage they used to practice at. And Kirk's purple ouija board guitar is one of a kind so I'd imagine that's not going anywhere anytime soon. These guys are the coolest metal band in the world and they are loaded!
This song is their most performed song in their extensive catalogue. The album of the same name is one of about 600 or so albums preserved at the Library of Congress as being culturally significant. They are have always been a band that sounds better live. I've been lucky enough to have been to two concerts and both were so amazing. Great reaction
Saw them live in July 5th 2015 in Orlando Florida for my first time loved them then was suppose to see them last year at welcome to Rockville at Daytona international speedway but Covid came along and canceled the festival and I was definitely disappointed especially knowing they were going to be playing two different nights
Actually you can save your phone from the snow. Pick it up. brush off remaining snow and let it dry. Also make sure you power it off and take the battery out. I think that's all you need to do. I could be wrong though.
At end of video you mentioned you would love to hear Metallica in front of a bigger audience. Listen to them perform " Enter Sandman" Live in Moscow 1991. there was 1.6 million people there.
The Wolf HunterZ "How do they prepare for something like this" Answer "They have been to the uk before" :) Apparently it does rain here from time to time.
Ahahah grande Jon ! Metallica great performance even more appreciable with that weather . Lars did a good job with that rain ! Master is one of the absolute Masterpiece of heavy metal in all "Eras" . They did with Burton... but Trujillo is a strong player , precise , technic and with a "wild approach" at the same time ! The mixing is very good expecially in a very Big Arena like that and with that weather . Anyway the audio of the live video by cameramens is very Live so not too precise on the music but very mixed with the crowd and the rain . Even more beautiful i think ! P.S. 1'00" Yeeees one of the Suzi's Trademarks 🤷♀️ in Reaction's channels . 1'15" You and Travis are Brave in doing Puppets motions i have seen . And Jon is brave in doing is own Theatrical stuff ! As was I!
Me as well 🤘
@@michaeltomkinson134 and me. Right hand side of the stage. About 7 rows from the front. Ghost were ace as well weren’t they!

They celebrate 40 years as a band this year. Oh, and this song came out in 1986.. 35 years ago.

Lars is killing it on this one.
Driving it like a runaway freight train going down an Alaskan mountainside.
Great.

You need to watch their performance of this at their Hall of Fame induction ceremony. It’s fantastic
That was just so fucking sick as fuck! They didn’t miss a beat on that song. The crowd participated immaculately and stayed in tune. They are that good rain and all.
That break down after all these years still gets to me- TRUE EPICNESS from the goat.
