    I own the J8 but I have played on the 12. The J8 works out great for us wedding DJs. You get enough output including bass for most weddings which come in at 100 people or less. At most weddings there is a dancefloor up front and tables and chairs with sitting guest on the sides and rear. So at high levels, you only need to hit the dancefloor. Matter of fact you will get complaints if the levels are too high for those seated and holding conversations.
    For my weddings and events, if I want to get louder, I add a sub or two to the J8's. The sub also helps with bass heavy music such as hiphop.
    Where the 12's shine is that they can do more volume and throw further. This makes them better for bands and DJs doing larger events. The bands need to be heard and felt further back in the room. Again, a sub or two with the 12's really came in handy. The crowds look to be almost 300 people.

    I have heard these speakers in person along with a QSC kw181 subwoofer to fill out the lows. They really needed the QSC to sound good in my opinion.

      I agree that you need a dedicated sub to really fill out the low end. I bought an extra sub to use with mine.

      I feel like that defeats the purpose then. So that's why I stay with point source. I do weddings and I know it's plenty for them - but I like sound quality and volume.

    I've played on the Evox12 a few times, and for the majority of time, it was nice. In your opinion, for the price, would a pair of DZR10 with DXS15XLF combo be a better bang 4 your buck as far as sound quality and SPL?

      I'd love to hear his answer, but from my research I'd say the dzr and dxs will sound noticeably better. I have dxs12 and dxr10s & 12s. The dzr are said to sound amazing.
      I'm leaning towards the rcf 932. But dzr10/12 is my other option.

    Huge Thanks. You mentioned that for the same price(of $5/6000), I can get 2 regular speakers w/ sub, and get better sound, can you please give me a few examples, I really have no idea which one to look at. I don't need more loud than the Evox 12. Thanks so much. Also, DB technologies ES 1203, is almost as good as like Evox 12? It's a lot cheaper, so if it's as good (almost), it's a no brainer for me to get the ES 1203. What do you say??

    What size column array do you think is appropriate for ~ 30x30’ room relatively low ceiling for indoor cycling class? I only need about 85 db, but would like good coverage throughout the room. Mic quality is key as well
    Looking at column array bc I could use at home as well…

    • @TheAngrySoundTech
      @TheAngrySoundTech  2 года назад

      Well I think the EVOX 12 is a little big for your room. Since you'd be playing DJ music I'm leaning towards the Evolve 50. While probably not what I would buy I think it would work well for your application. On a side note I haven't used the PRX One column array but it could be a nice one for you since it has their automatic feedback suppression built in. Could be handy if you use headset mics. This one also has a nice app.

    • @Ronniezim
      @Ronniezim 2 года назад

      @@TheAngrySoundTech yes, I use a headset mic, and yes with the gym's system, I'm having major feedback issues currently.
      The sound system is horrible and severely underpowered, etc. The master volume and the music channel have to both be maxed out to even get moderate music volume, which I think create the mic volume/feedback problem
      Thanks for the recommendations. And your videos are great!

      You know I went back and forth between the ES1203 and the EVOX 12. It had been a while since I heard an ES1203 and I had never heard an EVOX 12. So I wasn't able to do a direct comparison. You think the 1203 cranks out more sound? I got a good enough deal on my EVOX 12's so I could flip them if I wanted to. You'll have to keep me updated on them when you start to use them. I may have to make a swap!

      I heard them at a party omg what an output. but it's not that crazy 500 watts rms more so you can expect something from that. what is also handy is that you can use 1 set as a 2.1 setup, super handy for smaller parties. and the finish is super sleek. as soon as i have subjected them to a heavy test myself i will come back to it but for what i know now they blow the complete evox series off the floor greetings kevin

      I have used Evox12 for over a year at one of the venues I work regularly, the sound clarity is unmatched. I've heard the EV50's, for their price point and what they are, they're not bad, but between the two, Evox12 hands down. Neither will give you that bass bump in your chest feeling across the room, however the Evox12 is the clearest sound at higher volume. Ev50 tend to start distorting much sooner than Evox12. I work at a place with 350 people max capacity, with 200 people on average, and if you raise the columns high enough you get clear sound in the whole room. you hear the low freq, just not the bass punch.

      This is now my go to system for DJ gigs that I do. I've been in the process of updating the equipment I use when I go out to DJ and I'm trying to steer towards a clean high end look. This is the main reason I decided to go with a column array. I'll still be using my Yamaha gear for live sound and corporate gigs as they just provide better sound quality than the EVOX 12. And yes the DXS18XLF would be amazing as a low end supplement to the EVOX 12 (Better than the RCF 905 sub I bought). The main reason I bought the RCF 905 sub instead of using my existing Yamaha subs was size. I want to be able to hide the subwoofer under my DJ table.
