  • Hi all,
Here is the video that every people must see before to go at the Nurburgring.
After that crash i learned 5 essential things to do during touristenfahrten.
Iam not a pro, but not a bad driver and this can happen to every body even if like me you made more than 400 laps this year with no problem!
EVERYTHINGS CAN CHANGE IN A SECOND
1/ never follow too close the front driver, same than on the road, if you do there is a risk to don’t be able to stop your car in case of problem or crash on front of you.
2/ never drive at 100% during touristenfahrten, always keep a margin especially if the track is busy.
3/ Even if you drive a Dacia Sandero here, wear a helmet.
4/ be sure that your insurance company works on the ring.
    5/ THE MOST IMPORTANT!!!
Never stay parked before a crash, even if you want to advertise the other cars or if your friend crashed.
Always park out of the trajectory after the crash or better don’t stop your car and continue!!
And if you stop, as soon as possible go after the security barrier!!
Here is the story of that day:
I decided with my brother to do the last trip of the season at the nurburgring end of october 2017 and stay 3 days here from the 28 till 30th.
The conditions was very good for an october period and we haved on the 28/29 two fantastic days at the ring with the friends!
It was the first time that laptimer is not allowed during Touristenfahrten and so i respect it and driven with out as you can see in the video.
The 30th who was a very good day aswell, i was ready to go for the LAST lap of the year (yes the Last one 🤦‍♂️) i wanted to do one good lap but not at 100% just to finish 2017 perfectly.
At the entry barrier we started the lap just on rear of the new Lamborghini Performante driven by a very nice driver, at this time i knew that the lap will not be slow as i wanted 😂
I (try) to follow him, but the power of the lamb is amazing and i was only able to approach him a bit on the braking point but that’s it.
If you look at the first sector till T13 curve, it is one of my fastest (or maybe the fastest) start on touristenfahrten i have ever made, thanks (or not!) to the lambo guys who was hard to keep in the target and needed to push hard.
The crash happened at around the Km3 Hatzenbach area.
It is a very fast section where you arrive close to 220km/h with the gt3 and it is like a curve with not good visibility at the end
    Of it.
    And here it happen,
There was no yellow flag or other indication on the previous curve and nothing to be worried about an eventual crash.
A 997 gt3 rs 3.8 in perfect condition and driven by a very good driver loosed all of his water coolant from hatzenbach till flugplatz (he stopped here) he has no crash
As you see on the video i slide (the lambo aswell but was more lucky) on the coolant and i touched the grey wagon car (FIRST impact), after that i touch the barrier (SECOND) the aluminium support of the go pro just broken instantly!
and again big impact at around 120km/h in the bmw parked on the right side (THIRD)
This third impact just stop my car because it make me loose a wheel with no possibility to move the gt3 anymore.
At this time it is very hard to take a decision about leaving the car or rest inside because there is more cars coming and crash (15 on total!!) my brother took the decision and go out at the right moment to go after the security barrier, i started to open the door to do the same thing but when i put one leg out, 3 other cars arrived for crashing! It is when i say to my brother in the video to stay in the car but he was already out after the barrier.
At this moment I decided to close the door and stay in the car, after 3/4 seconds the two bmw kicked the gt3 and the car was launched into the left barrier (4th impact)
After that i gone out and go jump after the barrier.
If you listen the video till the end you can heard the big crash of the audi Tt (that you can see on an other video on yt) the tt crashed at 180km/h in a e36 bmw parked left side and the driver was hurted and gone to the hospital by helicopter for bad cerebral injuries but he is ok now, he weared 6 points harness, full rollcage and helmet...
One other Very VERY VERY lucky guy who was the driver of the e36 (you can hear him screaming) was ejected by the TT at 10m up on the floor exactly like you can see in Hollywood movie anime and...... finally he haved just one leg broken!!!!
I really thought that this guy was dead, but thanks god he was ok
No injuries for me and my brother, except a bit the neck hurted on the following days, but after a week it was all ok.
The gt3 rs is dead and thanks to my insurance for helping to solve the matter and defend my interest (Allianz Parisseaux in France)
Take care on the RING guys!!!

He shouldn't have tried to cut in so close to that other driver that bump is what sent him out of control, that's the price to pay for trying to prove a point to the guy driving the lambo

    • @BigNatorStrength
      @BigNatorStrength 6 лет назад +3

Literal Crown Or you can simply use your eyes, that's if they work at all. The pile up from the leak was slightly ahead of where their incident took place. He cut in to close to that car and the contact with the car plus the bump in the road is what jacked him up

It is because most people come from another video and wanted to see the first crash which caused the whole situation.
But they were fooled and this crash is just a result of the crash the people were looking for. And it is by far not "The Hughe" Nürburgring crash.
So if the uploaded had not overexaggarated it would be probably fine. But the crash in the video was a very light one ( only 3 people hurt, nothing serious ) and people did not see what they were looking for.
The first crash which caused all that to happen. The crash in the video is just a byproduct.

I slide on the liquid coolant and touched the skoda as you probably read in the full description
After my car stopped 5 other car crashed, also in me because they slipped on the coolant.

Judging from the long line of cars off to the right and the way the lambo lost serious traction right where you did, I’d have to assume there was a fluid spill of some sort that you hit. Around 4:18 you could see a string of other cars ahead and the lambo being held up by the silver wagon- in retrospect might have been safer to not go full throttle through that corner as the extra speed from that acceleration likely contributed to the loss of traction under braking in the following moments and the severity of the accident. Also passing someone (the wagon) at the apex of a bend in a situation where there are cars ahead seems risky, as you are dependent on them being fully aware of you to leave space. Looking at the video, the Lambo was taking it (as you discribed, and you had to learn at that time) it on the 70% of the limit, not 100% like you did. That is why you could close in at the breaking, he was taking it "slow" into the corners, full out of it.
Lesson learned, to late for you. Lucky you still can tell the story.

      328gts1987 yes that is right

    • @benchadwickleeds
      @benchadwickleeds 6 лет назад +25

Disagree. The Lambo looks like he was pushing just as hard, you can see him get sideways under power out of Nordkehre then pushing down the hill.
The Lambo had to slow for the other car way before the coolant spill point, so he wasn't just at 70% because he was wiser, he was going slower because he didn't have any other choice.
Also, it looks like the 911 may have caught the slide when he touched the liquid but unfortunately he didn't have as much room as the Lambo did because the silver car was at the side of him. Sounds like the the 911 driver is being far too modest with his comments about himself.
The lesson to learn is, if you go to the Ring/ trackday, there may be spilled fluids, debris, stopped cars etc. on the track, and not pushing 100% MIGHT save your ass if you're lucky, and judging by the way that the 911 driver handled his car and given his experience he probably already knows this as it's just common sense.

Faut-il souscrire une assurance spécifique aux circuit pour rouler en Touristenfahrten ? I don't get why so many people bash the driver for being inexperienced. This is not the first time this type of crash happend on a race track and also not the first time it happend during Touristenfahrten on the Ring. The description says it all, there was a coolant leak from another car which caused the Lambo to lose traction and the GT3 plus 14 other cars to crash. Just bad luck and a shitty situation came together.
I get that you should not push the limit at Touristenfahrten, but to be honest, don't drive on a track if you are not willing to take the risk that your car gets wrecked, either by you or someone else. It can just happen at any moment, just as this situation occured in the video and in many other videos. That's why i would not drive on the track with my beloved car.

Well i hope all that were involved were all ok? It looked to be a little slippy the track looking at the way the lambo locked up the min he realised trouble was ahead and applied his brakes? You too as the back of your car immediately went into an uncontrollable skid the min you applied the brakes too.... But you know what?..... That's part n parcel of racing. No matter what the level of racing driver you are it will happen at some point when RACING cars.....You'll have a CRASH!!! It's human nature to live n learn!!.....

Hopefully all the right comments here will be upvoted and sent to the top and the “Pro racers” in the comments sections will be sent away

Hearing the people screaming in the distance. Gives me that feeling of dread. Hope they didn't die? I am extremely sorry you wrecked your Lamborghini. The car can be replaced, but you can't. Glad to know you and your friend were not hurt.

    Salut,
    Salutations,
    KTM X-Bow Driver

On touristenfahrt there are way less marshalls. Also this happened really, really quick. Cars stopping on the track... I guess that is what people tend to do in an emergency situation. Remember most drivers are not professionals. So they might not consider moving a bit further away. Still an oil/coolant leak is the worst you can come across.

Problem is people, as in non-racedrivers, are teached to stop at an accident and provide help.
It’s a felony if you don’t. Technically TF is not participating in a race. So I understand why people behave the way they do. It’s simply counterintuitive to keep driving along when you’ve been conditioned to doing so for many many years.

+1D0N I never thought about that aspect of European law. In U.S. they can't compel you to risk your life like that. Not even U.S. police have a duty to do anything. If people watched the recent big-news shooting in the U.S., people are pushing for the government to do something. The government was *at the school when the shooting happened.* The officer was "Eff this, I'm not going in! I'm staying alive to get my pension!" lol.
