      Modern cars do have ESP. ESP can brake wheels independently, which a driver can't, it reacts orders of magnitude faster than the human driver, and its purpose is exactly to help in situations like these, by preventing rotation of the car around its axis at a degree it can't be saved anymore by human steering interaction. While we can't see the steering wheel in this video, it is obvious the driver counter-steered - but it is likely ESP helped with additional micro-corrections that helped stabilize the car.

    Next time, push through more quickly and get yourself through the incident. As distracting as it can be, it's best to avoid dawdling taking in the scene. There was a big crash a few years ago at Hatzenbach and it was made much worse because the escape routes were being blocked by people driving through very slowly or stopping and other cars crashed into the back of cars that hadnt been involved in the initial incident.
    I recognise that you will reply with a defence explaining that there was perhaps nothing behind in that moment etc and I wasn't in the car with you but what i am explaining is important advice for the next time you come across an incident.

      That's the big difference compared to a Trackday. Most of the people during Touristenfahrten are completely clueless, when it comes to accidents and what to do when it happens. At every Trackday there's a meeting before the event starts and the organiser will explain the rules and what to do, if there's an accident.
      Experienced racers already know that, but a big chunk of Touristenfahrten drivers don't know that and that leads to extremely dangerous situations and unnecessary follow up crashes.

    • @tracktool
      @tracktool Год назад

      Yes exactly. Always pass such accidents with 50 during TF and 60 on Trackdays. If you seem to be the most experienced there or help is required, then stop 200 meters after the accident (accelerate after the accident till you stop, make room for others) go behind barriers and call NOS hotline. Always good to have a yellow flag in the car. Here's a pretty good example why you NEVER stop before the accident ruclips.net/video/_JYLUL9MRyQ/видео.html

And the tyres won't completely let go when you did push them over. They just squealed, but the car remained pretty much stable and predictable! That's how a good car with proper tyres should behave! I enjoyed watching you push it! And obviously, it goes without saying you are an awesome driver as well!

    This is why i don't like it that they put cars and motorcycles together. Riding the Nordschleife with a motorcycle is so much more fun than with a car since 99% of mankind can not afford a half decent car. There are so many shitlord cars that lose all kind of garbage and fluids on the track, it is absolutely insane, these guys most of the time call it "tracktools" but it's more like shitbox what they drive.

    Where are the marshals.???? 1 reason why i say the track is more of a bragging experience for people to say that they've driven on the nurburgring, it's a overrated tourist attraction,, poor experienced drivers and extortionate recovery,, as well as the road ragers that will push past,, the track needs more for health and safety for when shit like this is happening

    I would have appreciated if the guy in the white t-shirt would have ran towards the traffic (on the outside of course) to warn fellow drivers instead of standing there taking videos of the carnage that is to happen.

    Need more education about dangerous driving situations. Renault and Ford drivers ahead should know better than to drive that slowly in an accident zone. The entry is unsighted so they should navigate as quickly beyond that situation as safely as possible so as not to put you and other drivers behind in danger.

    The worst thing about this is that so many cars had already crashed, there were people running around, and still there was no yellow flag. This means that nobody has called the crashes in so far, because once you do, within about 10 seconds, there will be a yellow flag in that section. You are supposed and required to by TF rules to carry the number on you and call in any dangerous situation immediately. Gross neglect that obviously nobody in that situation had done that; these are the people that are directly responsible for more cars crashing.

    Jesus man.. fortunately you didn't get caught up in it! My first and only lap was on !st November '23 and in the morning so it was quiet.. and still there was a yellow flag and sand laid down on the track. As @nickbelane4974 says, when you're driving your one and only car, it's nerve wracking (I had bought my S4 less than 2 months before that outing). Your car control was spot on dude - hats off to ya!!

    very sad but, glad it wasn't worse and also, that's the correct place to run and suffer accidents. Wish we had race tracks like these in my country, but despite our hero being Ayrton Senna, Brazilian government HATES cars and anything related to car racing.
