Must be said one of my fondest memories of DCS was flying out as a two ship of F-5s to knock out a really nasty SA-10 site with lots and lots of embedded SAMs and AAA. Went in guns only at treetop height, but my wingman had the misfortune to be engaged by a TOR (one of the few I've found which once launched can track you below 50ft AGL), so I had to do two passes to get both tracking radars down (this site had redundant units). Got hit by AAA on the second run, guns actually jammed mid burst as the secondary hydraulics got sprayed out the new holes. Just barely got the second unit down and got away. Ended up with GCI going through the emergency procedures to get it down safe. Was one of the sketchiest landings I've ever made (not least because to get the gear locked in you need to pull a few Gs and with half the tail shot away and other bits hanging by a thread you have to wonder if it's not just going to fall apart). Damn if it wasn't great fun though.
This is a good example showing why an s300 would never sandwich itself between nearby hills. If it did, the 300 would be the least of pilot problems, it's a decoy, rather the sa18's you didn't see waiting around the hills.
I happen to know after hunting them (even with the F-15's radar) how small a cross-section they have. Not sure how that would effect the AIs aiming a Tunguska, but it can't hurt.
Nice tactics for beating the SAMs but at the same time I thought you were going to show how to deploy the HARM mussel! You should still do one with the HARM because all these tactics plus the HARM is how you take those sites down! Still nice video thanks...
Drain the Sa-10 site of all its missiles first, then strike. Climb just high enough for the Sa-10 radars to pick you up, let them lock and fire, then dive and mask behind the ridges, rinse and repeat, until the Sa-10 runs out of missiles (won't take long). Once the Sa-10 site is dry, you can fly over it and dive bomb. Alternatively, you could simply stop fooling around with the F-5 and use a jet with actual SEAD/standoff capability.
@@TacticalPascale it went live this week on the beta. It won’t affect the minimal engagement range so if you fly low enough like you do they still can’t touch you. I was referring to the tactic of baiting out the ai by letting them launch missiles at max range, now it can be cotrolled so a launched missile is far more likely to hit
What the hell! How did you do easily and accurately bombed the target with the f-5 like it was nothing...even without adjusting the reticle..it’s so hard in the f-5...how?? Maybe make a video of your technique
Luck. We have one of our instructors at tactical DCS who is an absolute legend at pop up attacks. I watched him the other night and copied his approach.
@@TacticalPascale very nice. When I bomb in he f-5 I kinda stick to the 5000 above target 20 degree dive drop at 1500...and you really need to get the numbers right or it won’t hit..that’s why I was shocked you did it so effortlessly
Just remember the targeting reticule is an aiming point. In the case of Pascale’s approach and speed, using the bottom of the reticle works just as well. You can use the reticle, but who says it has to be the middle of it? :)
If I'm not mistaken, the F-5E's RWR issue is still there. The reason why you're not getting a track indication is because of how the RWR is programmed. In the "SEARCH" RWR mode, only search radars are indicated. You have to press the SEARCH button to deactivate it so it shows only track radar instead. According to RL documentation, the SEARCH should just filter in or out the search radars while always showing track, but unfortunately this is still not the case in DCS.
Just a thought mate, when you make example vids like this could you use real world placement of all these assets? How about placing them where they should be placed on the Syria map? Nice video by the way
Would shacking the big bird first massively reduce the sa10s range? So you could lob gbu38/agm154s at the Clam and flat lid from afar? Or does that make no sense to do that ;-)
@@TacticalPascale ok cheers, after you took the clam out in the vid, would the second pass to get the flat lid be the same? Ie its still deadly with BB an flat lid online? I came here from banging my head against the JSOW mission for the fa18c, its to take out an sa10 site, but the sa10 just eats jsows for breakfast launched from stand off range :-(
Had a mess around with this, seems like the only thing u need to kill is the flat lid (TR) to make the sa10 inert. If i took out the CS first it would still look on and kill me ;-) but the tactic is sound, i approached at
Hey Tactical Pascale! F-16C DCS Pilot here. I was wondering which plane you prefer when it comes to SEAD with HARM missiles, the F/A-18C or the F-16C and why? I really enjoy doing SEAD in this game and I'm currently in love with the F-16C, but I was wondering if the F/A-18C is worth to get my hands on.
I prefer the 16 to the 18 overall, however, in their current states the 18 is easier for SEAD. The ability to put it in Self protection and ripple off 4 harms at separate emitters in seconds is a good reason.
@@TacticalPascale Thanks for the advice! I watched your video because I'd just attempted a bomb-toss and noticed half-way there I'd loaded CBU-105s instead of 97s. That turned out about as poorly as you might expect. I saw some guys going in later with low-level HARM strikes and that seemed effective I guess that's just one more thing for me to practice.
Seems like something worth trying in the Viggen, dropping those small parachute bombs
Gotta be careful, you might get altitude sickness flying that high in the Viggen.

Sounds like a cracking sortie. I published the Sa-15 video today, very hard system to defeat.

I had to sell my gaming PC as I moved to the Pacific coast of Ecuador from the US... I miss this game sooooo much! Great video. Be safe... P
This is awesome! I thought I was the only one to fly sead in the F5! Excellent flying skills! F5 takes a lot of practise to get bombs on target

This is actually really useful thank you!
yes! more great content
Enjoyed it - thanks!
Very helpful thank you!
You're welcome!
Love these
Awesome.
Please make it in order like sa2, 3 , 4 etc
I am quite confused. Why the clam shell and not the Lid? Isn't that one the tracker?
Nice tactics for beating the SAMs but at the same time I thought you were going to show how to deploy the HARM mussel! You should still do one with the HARM because all these tactics plus the HARM is how you take those sites down! Still nice video thanks...

“I mean you no HARM”, the video is designed to kill it without a harm. I mention the idea of saturating the target with 18s, 16s and Jeffs.
well that wont work in newest versions of DCS, map editor now support variable engagement range for the ai so they don't launch at max range
What date for that update?
Regardless; it will. Stay low enough no issue. I have used this on SAMs with the Skynet script running

The Skynet script is excellent, they wait and wait and then BOOM, multiple launches
These are really good! Any news on when the third episode is due out?
Hopefully next week

Altitude, speed, angle, luck.

Effective range of only 25nm? That is awfully short range.. Which version of the S300 is in the sim?

You’ll be well within range trying to lob a GBU-38. A 154 might work but normally there is embedded close in SAM to cover it.

Lower than a snakes belly, fast and terrain mask.

Hey man, is there a working link for the discord? All the ones I've tried have expired :( I'd love to join and come fly

Tunguska serve as CIWS? That's modeled?
Wellllllll shit.
your video encoding sucks man - there are fuzzies on everything that moves close up, like the cockpit frame.
It happens on occasion.
I think this one is due to the way I recorded. I shall endeavour to make the next one crystal clear.
