This looks great! Two changes I would make, the first to use angel hair pasta. There's something about the texture that is so good. The main change would be to use Italian sausage instead of hamburger or at least half hamburger, half Italian sausage. Thank you for a great video.
I use cottage cheese too. My hubby thinks Ricotta has too much of a bite to it, so I use cottage cheese in my lasagna. My Home Ec teacher was Italian and she taught us to use cottage cheese when teaching class. So, for me, it works. She also taught us to use about a tablespoon of olive oil to the freshly cooked and drained noodles to keep them from sticking together.
Looks yummy Leslie. I ALWAYS put sugar in my spaghetti, and my chili too, it cuts the acidity of the tomatoes and adds just the right touch (not too sweet, just sumum' sumum'. Thanks for your videos. ;-)
Sugar in any tomato sauce kills some of the acids in the tomato. It actually good if you have any kind of stomach acid problems. Or that is what I have been taught through out the years.
I always add extra garlic, oregano, fennel and a splash or 2 of olive oil to jar spaghetti sauce. A little sugar added to sauce helps to cut the acid in tomatoes. Thank you for sharing the recipe. Looks great 👍
Sugar actually does nothing for the acidity to tomatoes. It’s just an old wives tale! It’s sweet… so it masks the tartness of some tomatoes. Scientific fact! But I too like a little sweetness at times to mine. But again… it’s only got taste & preference. My poor papaw sprinkled a dab of sugar on just about everything he ate. He had a terrible stomach & thought sugar helped acidity. Love his sweet heart! ❤️❤️
What a great and different way for spaghetti. I actually put cottage cheese, sour cream and sharp cheddar cheese in my baked Mac n cheese and it is divine! I'm definitely trying this recipe. Tfs! ❤
Hi Leslie...when making anything with tomatoes I also put just a little sugar to cut the acid and I always use cottage cheese instead of ricotta cheese in my lasagna. My mother-in-law taught me 59 years ago how to make lasagna using cottage cheese. This is a casserole that's just a bit different but sounds delicious 🍝 I'll need to try this one. God Bless LuvYa! Bye from Ohio
This looks so good. I will be trying this week. For those who need gluten free, I could see using the spiral zucchini. Also subbing chopped mushrooms for the meat.
I have used gluten free noodles and subbed ground turkey for the hamburger and it is delicious! Adding mushrooms to the sauce would be tasty too. My son-in-law uses spaghetti squash with his meat sauce and enjoys it that way.
😍 Leslie your outfit today is absolutely adorably you! You're too funny when you said, "and my husband tells lame jokes!" I laughed so hard because I actually like Bryant's lame jokes! Much love to you and Bryant, from Los Angeles. The food looks yummy, too and I'm going to try it! Leslie, ps.....get a vacuum sealer (not too expensive) for stuff like the garlic. you can vacuum seal any quantity of anything. Vacuum seal the garlic and keep it in the freezer in a small bag. I just bought one and I live alone and was sick of my food going to waste! The vacuum sealers are so light, small, easy to use. And, well worth the money!
Woohoo. Got sound. Cannot wait to watch this video. This recipe did not disappoint at all. Cannot wait to make this. My youngest son's favorite dinner is spegetti. This will bring it up a notch for sure. Thank you for sharing. Also I personally love the corny dad jokes. Your husband is so sincere regardless, being comical or spreading Gods word. And are you wearing a bib dress? I absolutely love those and so happy there back in style. So comfortable and adorable. Great video. Have a blessed day
I had never heard of million dollar spaghetti, but you're right, it is very much like lasagna. I'm going to try this! I always put a bit of sugar in my spaghetti sauce, too. Thanks, Leslie!
Hi Leslie!!! There's a trick my mom does to mellow out tomato sauce without using sugar. She uses a tiny pinch of baking soda in the sauce...very tiny pinch. It works beautifully to tone down acid and bring out the sweetness of the tomatoes.
My mother in law makes this and calls it "string pie" . It is indeed yummy. I have made similar with strips of zucchini in place of the pasta for a little more lighter carb option.
I used to use a little sugar to cut down on the acidity of the tomatoes. But had to stop. I found sweet basil does the same thing and have learned to mix my own Italian seasoning. Oh so yummy.
Hi Leslie, Sugar cuts the acid from the tomato sauce and tomato. Also for those that can't eat red tomato. My Dad had too eat yellow tomato. That wouldn't cause heart burn. In those days Mom didn't know about adding sugar too a Red Tomato dish.
😋Delish😋 Tysvm for this recipe Leslie! Bryant is the perfect taste-tester! You can truly tell he absolutely loves your cooking! 🙏Y'all are in my prayers🙏💗
Been adding a little sugar for years, it really does mellow out the acidity in the tomato's. Love your videos and your family. So glad I found your shows.
We as a society already eat too much sugar without sneaking extra in dishes that don’t need it!I would love to hear medical opinion on your theory that sugar cuts acidity in dishes with tomato. If you just have to have a sweeter flavor, sprinkle a bit of sugar substitute in. There is no bitter aftertaste like the old days and your teeth and waistline will appreciate it!
I tried mixing the cream cheese, sour cream, and cottage cheese mixture with the cooked noodles, then layered in the pan with the spaghetti sauce over that, then the cheese sprinkled on top. It turned out great and delicious! Thank you for sharing!
For sweetness, chop some carrots and add them to the sauce. I'm Italian, so using cottage cheese is anathema. This is basically lasagna made with spaghetti, so I would just make actual cheese filling for lasagna for this. The dish you made looks delicious! I agree with a commenter below that angel hair pasta might be easier to work with.
I've always used lasagne sheets, but I'm definitely going to try spaghetti next time. It's always good to cook for a man with an appetite for food. Hugs UK
Leslie, today you made your intro and I was thinking today is a good day to tell you what I think of your channel. PLEASE DON"T BLOCK ME!!!! PLease keep me in your prayers, I have a back problem that it will take GOD to heal it and I BELIEVE that HE CAN!!!! Now back to what I was saying. You are funny and make me laugh when I need it the most. I really enjoy your channel with the food/ cooking, etc. and most of all good family time. God has you in the place that you need be at this time to help people like me that needs to be up lifted and encouraged. You have a beautiful smile and laugh. And your like rest of us, you have your days that things just don't go right, no matter what. I love the different things that you try in the kitchen and like me some are keepers and some ..... well we'll try something else. God Bless you and your family. And keep up the great work that you are doing on your channel. GOD BLESS!!!!!
I have always called this Hungry Man Casserole and I like using egg noodles instead of spaghetti. Oh and in a pinch, I have topped it with velveeta, it is really tasty that way too.
A little sugar in chili and spaghetti sauce helps cut the acidity of the tomatoes. If you have anyone that gets acid reflux or indigestion it really helps! I'm going to try this next time I fix spaghetti! Thanks for sharing!!❤🇨🇱
PLEASE use an egg in the cottage cheese mixture OMG it makes such a huge difference and it will hold the pie together and when u cut the slices it holds it allbthe flavors together!! I would also add more cottage cheese and throw in some italian sausage w/ ur hamburger it add such a depth of flavor and taste sooooo much better! Ive done it both ways and will never go back to just using hamburger!!! Thx for sharing and giving me an ideal of what to cook tomorrow, lol ... xx
I betcha, if I made spaghetti this way I'd have no heartburn. I'm going to try it. We had taco spaghetti. That was SO GOOD. I'm not a spaghetti person but I am learning different ways to cook spaghetti that I am learning to like.
That looks so good. I think I will make it tomorrow. The sound was a little static at the beginning but it only lasted a few seconds. I'm not sure what you did different but I was able to see everything you were doing once you started.
We always made this and just basically three layers you miss mixed the sauce with your spaghetti put half of that on the bottom put all your cheese in the middle and put spaghetti on top of it and then put your cheese on the top. It makes it a little faster and I think it makes it a little yummier too because you've got the sauce and the meat all mixed in from the beginning..
You can freeze the garlic. Get small ice cube trays, spray it with some oil, and put whatever amount you use most often in each cavity. Once Frozen, pop them out and store in a freezer bag. You may have to double bag it, if you can smell the garlic in your freezer.
Sugar takes out the tart of the "tomatoes". I always hated that loss. It does for some reason stop heartburn for me. Could be, be cause I don't like it that way and don't eat it. Lol. Hence, no heartburn. Lol.
i am sitting here watching with my great grandson he is 3 every time you would open a package he would go ah owww i would tell him what it was and he would repeat me when u were mixing the cheese up he said she make a mess lol when it was done he said *getti* so i took out some hamburger guess we are having million dollar spaghetti for dinner lol looks yummy
Looks absolutely yummy! Suggestion…last 10-15 minutes, THEN add the cheese. Those with an “iffy” oven, you won’t burn the cheese by putting it on the casserole for the whole baking process. Gonna try this real soon!
Sugar helps cut acidity of the tomatoes/tomato sauce especially if making a dish/sauce from scratch. With the jar spaghetti sauce doesn't seem to need sugar. I never seem to come out right when I divide layers, lol. Usually get too much on one of the layers and not enough on the other. Lol.
I put a layer of sauce on the bottom of the pan then Spaghetti then a layer of cheese then a layer of meat & Repeat the same order & put enough Mozzarella Cheese on Top & Bake it. Uncover it & Brown it for 10 min. & Ready! Deli, Deli!❤❤❤
I add about a teaspoon of sugar to spaghetti sauce to cut the acidity of the tomatoes and a small pinch in homemade oil and vinegar dressing for salad. Maybe more sauce is needed for next time.
Good evening Leslie and Bryant 👋, Took a while to view your video. But I waited patiently. 😁. I enjoyed your video very much. Thank you for sharing this recipe. Looks delish! 👍😋👍❤️❤️❤️😊. 👍👍🥰
I haven’t seen pull apart bread in years. I used to love making ham sandwiches with it to take to school for my lunch. What brand is it so I can search for it? The spaghetti looked like a million dollars.
I am getting no stream, try again as well. I am watching on my iPad. I have closed it out and shut it down completely and came back in, but it still won’t work. I will try again tomorrow. Your videos are always worth the wait. Dumb RUclips. 😉😀
My mom and I have always called this baked spaghetti. We would put a jar and a half of sauce as well, making it enough to go in between the layers as well.
Million dollars spaghetti bake look so yummy and and I always quit put a little sugar it's a sugar to pick up the acidity , not enough to taste because I do not I do not like sweet spaghetti!! Thanks for sharing. Miss Ruby
I do layer of sauce in between pasta & cheese instead of only sauce on the top layer. That way sauce little bit even distributed throughout IMO.🍝
This looks great! Two changes I would make, the first to use angel hair pasta. There's something about the texture that is so good. The main change would be to use Italian sausage instead of hamburger or at least half hamburger, half Italian sausage. Thank you for a great video.

A little bit of butter does the same thing for the sauce as the sugar . Cuts the bitter

I always add a little sugar, too. It mellows out the acid of the tomatoes. I could eat spaghetti every day. 😋
Same here except for I use honey instead. You can't tell the different and honey is better for you!
If your a diabetic sugar isn’t a good idea
I always add a little sugar too. 😊

Oh, you cant read it?
My mom uses a tiny pinch of baking soda instead of sugar to mellow out the tomato sugar.❤👍
@@lauraliviola7028 I also put a little bit of baking soda in my pot of Pinto beans. It kills the gas.

Check the ingredients on the jar of spaghetti sauce you used -- it could have sugar or corn syrup added. Most prepared sauces do.
I always add a little sugar to anything that has a tomato base....it cuts down on the acidity. ❤❤❤

I can hear you fine. Definitely adding this recipe to my list of things to make.
The sugar mellows out the acid from the tomatoes. I always add a little sugar, too. 😋
Try adding some finely grated carrot for the sweetening.
I never manage to make it to a live on ant channel. Watching and can see and hear 😁. The spaghetti looks delicious.

A pinch of baking soda will also tame the acid. I'm avoiding sugar and this works well. 😊
I also cook my onion with my ground beef along with bell pepper a lot of times. I think the flavors just play well together when doing it that way.
Leslie, I love your hairstyle!! It makes you look younger and fresh. Recipe looks good but I would eat too much. No will power. Hugs C
Hey Leslie,we love baked spaghetti,we love it period,i like mushrooms in mine but hubby doesn't,have a blesssed evening
Bryant is such a kill. He digs into those taste tests like you never feed him 😊

Your truly beautiful smile got me right away. You look so happy on your beautiful farm and those 2 amazing little kiddos! What a life.
I layer my sauce throughout, also I use provolone cheese in the layers. We call it baked spaghetti
Great recipe! Can't wait to try this! I use cottage cheese in my lasagna sometimes. I like the creamy flavor.

You two are so cute! Spaghetti looks yummy! Might have to try that! BLESSINGS!!!
Why is that Preacher man up walking around and working? He's supposed to be resting. Lol
You already have sugar in the jarred sauce. Check the label to see how much... The amount may surprise you.
Sugar takes out the tart of the "tomatoes". I always hated that loss. It does for some reason stop heartburn for me. Could be, be cause I don't like it that way and don't eat it. Lol. Hence, no heartburn. Lol.

Leslie, I like to use green onions/scallions instead of a white or yellow onion. It really kinda ups the taste. Looks so yummy! 😉❤️💕❤️💕😉🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🎉
Looks absolutely yummy! Suggestion…last 10-15 minutes, THEN add the cheese. Those with an “iffy” oven, you won’t burn the cheese by putting it on the casserole for the whole baking process. Gonna try this real soon!
I think that I will try this with “Zucchini Noodles”. Thanks for another great recipe!
Try using spaghetti squash too. It is a delicious alternative to spaghetti pasta.

The sugar cuts down on the acidity, so use your Suga if you want. It's your sauce😋🤗
Million dollars spaghetti bake look so yummy and and I always quit put a little sugar it's a sugar to pick up the acidity , not enough to taste because I do not I do not like sweet spaghetti!! Thanks for sharing.

A bit of bake soda will mellow the sauce without adding the sweet taste of sugar.
