I have been watching for about 2 years. I think you have a beautiful soul. You remind me of my sweet niece who recently passed away unexpectedly
Awe thank you Phyllis
My aunt gave me this recipe years ago and I never made it because of the water? Actually watching you make it and your taste test thumbs up I will be trying it now. West Virginians eat our dogs with chili, slaw & onions and some add mustard. Don't knock it till you try it! ;) TY so much for the recipe.
We eat WVA style!
Mustard, chili, onions, & slaw.
Now, I’m weird about soggy bread so I have my slaw on the side. Yum!
We make our hot dog sauce almost exactly the same way! Water & all.
However, we do add brown sugar to ours. Not too much but it really makes it perfect hot dog sauce.
Depression foods
@@deansurratt7404 ya think so…?
I have never thought of it that way . Would be interesting to research this.
I'm from Western NC and we always called that Carolina Style! And when you order a hot dog OR hamburger "all the way" you get chili, mustard, onions & slaw..... Mmmm! Makes y' tongue slap y' brains out! I had to teach my Chicago bred husband to eat a hot dog this way. Chicago style is mustard, green relish, tomatoes & celery seeds. Some will add their fries to the hot dog.... 😬
Maybe that's just a "ridge runner" thing.....🤔
@@RJanke65 I’m from WVA and my hubby is from the Chicago & Indiana areas, so this is funny to me.
I have several friends in North Carolina. One of them taught me to make fried bologna with bbq slaw. Of course fried bologna was a staple back in my day, but I never had slaw on that sandwich until our friends.
It was really nice chatting with you!!!
Thank You!!
Brenda
I like a slaw dog too. mustard, chili and onions ketchup and then the slaw. This is South Carolina hot dogs. yum !! you made the chili just like my husband used to. He was a much better cook than me, so when he passed away, Im having to teach myself how to love to cook. Thanks to you and your videos, it is really helping me.
I drop the mustard, add ketchup, relish 14:36 and shredded cheddar. Now you have a Georgia dog. Everything but the kitchen sink.
Looks great!!! I'm sure its delicious. Girl U need a vacation from all u do and so does Bryant. Have a great weekend Leslie.
That chili looks fabulous! I like my hot dog grilled with mustard and onion under, then chili and cheese on top.
I'm a first time viewer, really enjoyed the content, awesome presentation, simple to follow. Us church folks love our fellowship dinners, I believe I'm bringing the chili dog fixins at our next get together! God richly bless you and your family!
Thank you Leslie for this chili recipe!!! Can’t wait to make it!! I’m going to my vacation home in April and will make this in Leland n.c.!! Have a great time at your event!!
Your chili recipe is simmering on the stove. My first time making chili for hot dogs. I enjoy your videos. You have a lovely family. I am retired now and cook all of our meals. I have made several of your dishes. We loved the chicken casserole with Ritz crackers on the top. When I watch you, it's like visiting with a friend. Blessings to you and your family.
Thank you for sharing this recipe. Have a blessed day. Pam
I cannot wait to try this and thank you so very much for actually printing the recipe out.
Can't say enough about Jan Creson and her recipes. She has the best home cooked, real life recipes. Love you recipes as well. They are so real and diverse
I love chili and mustard with onions. 🤤
I just made this using your recipe but I switched out the water with beef broth absolutely delicious🤗🤗🤗🤗
Thank you for the recipe. It looks really good.
Can’t wait to try this, so glad you posted this recipe. I’ve been looking for a good chili recipe.
Mayo, chili & onions! I think thats the perfect way. So glad to see ya'll are from NC, me too!
Awesome video, Ms Leslie! Thank you for sharing this recipe! I know that chili was delicious! I love chili dogs, I put onions and mustard on mine. Have a great weekend, love you guys, God bless you all 🙏❤️
Hi this looks like something my family would enjoy thanks for sharing and bless you and your family
Just wanted to say you are doing awesome on your diet! I went back 4 years on your videos and couldn't believe it. Keep up the good work!
Thank you
Hi looks yummy keep praying for Jan she's going to rehab from a broken hip. Blessings
I have cooked my hamburger meat in water for a long time when making chili or for soups. My family likes how small the meat is when prepared this way. Great video Leslie. Thanks
Looks so good! Chili dogs is one of our favorite meals around here! Lay down the bun, hot dog, chili, cheese and Cole slaw! I bowl my hamburger meat for lots of different meals. It makes the meat softer. Enjoy your weekend!
Looks so good.Been looking for a good hotdog chili. Thank you so much for sharing.
I love chili on top of my hot dog then chili , mustard and onions. Tks leslie for this recipe!!
I made your recipe and added a tube of Mexican pork chorizo to it. Outstanding! Thanks for the video!
Mustard on bottom, then onions, then weiner, then chili and slaw on top. Your hot dog chili looks delicious. Cannot wait to try it. Thank you!
I buy those patties at Sam's, too, because of the price. I'm glad you showed how to make hot dog chili with raw meat and water because it totally gives you the right texture. My recipe came from my Granny's church (they made hot dogs and sold them every Friday night back in the day) and I loved their chili. The only difference was that you measure the water and dump everything in the pot at once (ground beef, water, catsup, chili powder, S&P) and cook on low 2.5 hours, stirring occasionally. If anyone wants to try it, add about 2/3 cup water for every 1.5 pounds of beef.
Can’t wait to try this it looks delicious..Thank you for sharing.
I Just discovered this video while searching for a Hot Dog Chilli Recipe as people here in the UK don't really put it on Hot Dogs like you guys seem to in the USA. I Really enjoyed the video, your voice is so calming & you all seem so genuine & enthusiastic. I can't wait try the recipe & watch more of your videos. Thanks.
Hope you enjoy
Making this on Friday....thank you, it looks fabulous 😍
This is how I make it too only I use beef broth instead of water, or just put a beef bouillon cube in with the water. The water makes the hamburger break down into fine granules which is what you want! Thanks for reminding me of this great recipe!
I really appreciate the shout out to Jan Creson, a lovely lady. This recipe looks excellent and I look forward to making it myself. Funny thing is I just saw Jan’s video less than a day ago. I’m presently going down the hot dog chili sauce rabbit hole watching multiple videos. Lastly I live in Cincinnati and we have a unique Greek inspired take on chili that’s served on spaghetti with cheese on top and coneys that is a must try if you’re ever in the area, and yes you cook the ground beef in water. Great video!
Oh my, I love Cincinnati Chili. Skyline is my granddaughter’s favorite food. I’m in Alabama.
Planning a Easter grill out after church. This will be perfect for to take along with my potato salad.
I saw Jan's video for that chili and it is delicious 😋. Hope you and your family are all doing well. Always enjoy your videos. God bless you a d keep you.
This is to cute .I just watched Mrs Jane's recipe and here you are making her recipe !!!
I learned the hamburger and water trick many years ago. My best friends mom ran the school cafeteria and that’s how they prepared the meat for sloppy Joe’s which were the BEST! The water makes the hamburger cook up super fine.
You are a hoot❣️I look forward to trying this recipe. Thank You for sharing.
This chili looks delicious! We eat our dogs many different ways I like mine grilled with mustard and mayonnaise. If I go to Sams it’s mustard and saurcraut. When I a chili dog I have chili no beans with mustard, chili cheese and onion. I live in Southern California. The L.A. Los Angels dog is very popular. It’s a grilled hot dog wrapped in bacon with grilled jalapeños and grilled onions with mustard and mayonnaise. These hot dogs are sold on the street corner or sold outside a sports stadium. I make theses at home occasionally.
OMG this hotdog chilli is soooooooooooo DELICIOUS 😋 thanks for sharing 👍🏾 👍🏾
Thank you so much I'm so glad you enjoyed it, please share that video
When I have a chili dog I only want the chili , mustard and onions on top. I definitely want to try your recipe for the chili. Looks yummy.
Yarlette, me, too!!
I made it and OMG it's DELICIOUS 😋
That's the way. No mayo. Just chili, mustard and onions.
I have an order for my condiments too! Mustard between the dog and the bread then more mustard on the dog then onions then chili then slaw but on the side. Great video! Ya'll have fun tomorrow!
A wonderful way you cook!
I'm so glad you posted this recipe. I need to make up some and freeze and I didn't want to guess at a big batch of chili. When you are making a lot to freeze its hard to get all the ingredients perfect. You can stand there all day and adjust your chili and then it starts tasting the same. lol
Yummy! Hot Dog mayo, mustard, chili, a d some shredded cheese your so precious Leslie!!
This looks like the recipe I have just tried. Instead of using water to cook the hamburger in, I used beef broth. Turned out very good. Still adjusting my recipe.
This looks super yummy! I think ill make this tomorrow :)
Yumm. Definitely going to try this.
Loved your video and thank you for teaching me something new. 😊🥰
This is the best video I’ve watched today.
I make my chili this way, too! So good! Loved when you said you put mayo on your hot dog. I’ve always put mayo on mine and get a lot of teasing about it. It has to be Duke’s mayo! Must be a Carolina thing! I have an order for my condiments too. Mayo on both sides of the bun, wiener, ketchup on top, then onions, chili and slaw. Love a good hot dog with homemade chili and slaw!
Yes!
I do too. Everyone thinks I’m weird. You put mayo on a burger and hot dogs are their cousin so…!
I like my chili dogs the way you do, BUT, I also love rinsed off sauerkraut on it, too!
Good morning Leslie I’m barely watching your video I was not home yesterday thank you for your recipe you’re a very awesome person and a blessing love you guys and God bless ♥️♥️♥️🙏🙏🙏👍
You are a hoot, really enjoyed this video. Gonna be trying this recipe for sure!
Thank you for sharing such a delicious looking recipe.😋 Your husband's a lucky man, you're obviously a great cook and you're easy on the eyes!🥰🥰🥰 Take care and God bless you.🙏 From Los Angeles, CA.🖐😎
I haven't had a chili dog in awhile your recipe makes me want one.
Can’t wait to try the recipe out,thx a bunch🎉🎉🎉
I’ve made this sauce and it is good.I thought this was strange too. But results are so good
Great recipe thanks for sharing this with us
Just made this, best chili I have ever made!! My go to recipe for chili. Thank you!
Yay!!
This is exactly the way I did my hamburger meat when I made chili when I first got married. For some crazy reason, I changed it the last few years. I started browning my meat and then added the other ingredients. Thanks for reminding me of my real way to make m chili!!!
awesome hot dog chili sauce very easy to make and very good
Yes, thanks
My grandmother made her chili like this. So delicious.
That’s how we make good southern hotdog chili! Yummy
I am re watching videos and never saw this before! Was so excited to find a hot dog chili recipe that covers the ground beef in water for cooking! I make mine that way ever since I got a recipe from a hot dog stand in southwest VA ! I was grossed about but the method but knew how fantastic the chili was. It makes such a difference m makes the beef in a very fine, tender crumble. But my recipe dies not even have any tomato product..no ketchup! But it is heavenly.
Thank you for this video. Its just what I was looking for. 😋
I like all the condiments plus the chili. Have to try this chili!
Good stuff! My first experience with this style of chile and hot dogs with coleslaw was while living in Virginia.....I've been eating dogs that way ever since. My family calls them 'Virginia dogs',
of course! I'm retired now living in the Pacific NW, and working on a recipe for WA dogs! Thanks for the video.
I usually cook my hamburger in tomato juice with chili powder for chili, comes out amazing!!
I do mine as such: chili and then slaw, or chili, mustard, and onions. If I do relish, it's just mustard and relish. I have weird food combination issues so certain things can only go with certain other things. This looks like a great recipe. I'll have to try it.
I would put that on a toasted bun, as a Sloppy Joe, and put more mustard and onions on it....yummmmm!!! 😊💜
I have bought hamburger patties before too because they were cheaper and did the same thing . Good tip.
And some are very great quality meats.
Just came across your video, so on my chili dogs warm bun, beef franks, mustard, relish, chili, sharp cheddar, and onion on top 😋 I’ll have to try this recipe.
I like mine with onions mustard on the bun then chili and maybe shredded cheese. This also makes a good frito pie, and it also very good with a flour tortilla
I cooked in a school lunch room and we cooked our chili in water too. And it doesn’t look very appetizing but it is delicious!
That looks so good and I’m going to try it too! Thank you.
Hope you enjoy
Yummmmm, that’s what have to say!!! God bless y’all!!
Chili makes or breaks a hot dog. I’ll have mine All The Way, please and thank you! (Mustard, chili, slaw & onions) Looks great!
Just now watching this. Your chili looks so delicious. Makes me want a hot dog with chili! I have a certain order too. Mayo first then mustard ,hot dog, chili, & onions. If I want slaw on it then I dont put any mustard on it at all. I have never put ketchup or relish in my hot dog. I think everyone has an order what goes on their hot dog. Don't know if you will see this post since it was 5 months ago but I just love watching your videos and I could sit and listen to you all day. Love y'all and hope your weekend has been great thus far. ~Angela~
Dave here - looks great!😊 would recommend you having full 😊 bottles of ingredients while you cooking - trying this!
This is how Hot Dog Chili was meant to be!!! Regardless of how you spice it up, the hamburger had to cook in the liquid, otherwise you get chunks of beef, and that is incorrect!! I have made my hit fig chili sauce this way for years!!! Thank you for sharing this recipe!!! I also watch Jan Creason, but for some reason I have missed her making this chili sauce!!
Looks delicious!
Hi Leslie.....when you are chopping onions, wet a paper towel and lay out beside your cutting board. It will keep your eyes from watering. Don't know why it works but it does!!!
Looks so yummy and will always be better the next day
Yes it will
Looks delicious ⭕️❤️
Just a suggestion, try adding a teaspoon of coco to the chili. The coco cuts the acidic taste of tomato and really blend a nd rounds out the flavor.
No need to look further. Perfect, just what I was lookin for.
Great to hear
Looks & sounds good.....got me wanting one now & I don't eat a lot of hotdogs.....those at the ballpark were always so good.....lol
That sounds good.
I think I will do a 3x's batch of this and can it in 1/2 pint jars to take camping for my husband and I. It would be so good with a hot dog cooked over a fire! Yum
Would you can it?
@@wendyzimmerman6002 You could pressure can it for the time and pressure for the meat in your altitude. Or freeze it.
Q
😍
How long did u pressure can it for ?
Looks good thank you for the video.
Pray for me, I had
complete left knee surgery and am still in alittle pain. I know the power of Pray works. Starting PT for the second. Thank you. Carolyn
So easy and tasty, thank you.
I laughed so hard! What are they shooting? Scoots? LOL This just seems like thin sloppy Joe to me but I'll try it. I'm from the Midwest and in my world that only includes Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri. No slaw on my dog although that does sound good and I'll try it. A dog, chili, m&k, lots of onions. Grilled only, never boiled. Gotta have smoke and char. Cheese is ok. No mayo. No relish, at least, not on a chili dog.
Great smile and personality. Reminds me of the ladies back home. Internet neighbors! 😊 My wife and I were just talking about getting a pot like that. Thanks for sharing!
I've never made just chili sauce, I'm gonna try this. But I make a good chili with beans. But it looks delicious 😋 😍 😜 😊
Your hot dog chilli looks great. I just saw a recipe which I’ve not tried yet but this guys made his hot dog buns into garlic bread Then pilled up chili on top etc🎉
Oh sure I stumble across your video while Im on a diet, guess I can still make and freeze it for next yr. This looks to be a 2’fer 👍👍 hot dog chili !!
Mustard, chili, onions and slaw for us. I’m for sure making your chili the next time.
Fantastic!
Looks so good I’m having hot dogs tonight. We love them! The way I fix mine is mustard on bun then wiener, chili, slaw, onion and shredded cheese in that order. Yum, I’m sooooo hungry!!
