I don't think I will be able to afford a ZR1 or a Zora (if they are produced) I'm debating between the Z06 and the ERay (if they are produced) either would be quick/fast enough for me as I've owned a 1991 ZR-1 and currently own a 2011 CTS-V, so I would definitely appreciate the speed of either C8 mentioned. I have owned two Audis and love all wheel drive. Hmmm...We will see...Thanks for the Vlog!
The understeer “problem “ in the C8 Corvette is only the impressions of Automotive Journalists that do not know how to drive a rear mid engine car. I own a C8 and understeer is not an issue.

The electric corvette should be pretty slick. Not the one I would buy but cool all the same. Great video. Keep up the good work.
The red switch is a very standard battery disconnect device. If there is a major malfuction of the car, the driver jumps out and turns the key to disconnect the battery. I would say the electric 'hybrid' version is an electric motor in the front with an E-diff, and the battery capacity to run the vehicle on its own will be for about 40 miles. The main idea of the electric motor is the instant torque able to be produced, which will give better acceleration times, not to be relied on as a main means of motive power.

I feel the same way, but the C8 Stingray seems to be very good in it's first year to this point.
Yes but a sports oriented hybrid will be new to Corvette. If it’s without an electric motor then it should be fine in year 1. My C8 has had no issues thus far.
That red knob looks like it's a battery bypass or disconnect switch. If it is they would use it for the hybrid motor batteries.
I'm always interested in the psychology of manufacturers and their marketing. I will look at the E-Ray with an open mind and see how I feel about it when more details arise.

That red thingy, is a coat or jacket hook. So when your at cars and coffee, and it was chilly in the morning, but now the suns out. You hang your clothing on it. While you pullout the fold out chair from the front frunk.....🤷♂️
Power switch so if the electric motor has a short you can kill the power before it burn down the electrified C8!

It’s tough enough waiting until 2022 for a Z06, if the eRay is wide body I’d consider it ....but I’m not waiting until 2023.....

Totally wrong. 55 more horsepower and extra weight? It not only dosent make sense, it will be one of the biggest blunders in sports car history. This isnt a eco milage ev concept. Its a sports car that Tadge Juechter said wouldnt have anything but performance related ev attributes. These speculative numbers just dont make sense.
Hi , I totally agree and imagine what this will cost $$$, I personally don’t think this version will sell. Now maybe the 1000Hp ZORA version twin turbo AWD, that might be a game changer, but a 550 hybrid 👎👎👎. Can’t wait for real info on Z06, was hoping for twin turbo version, but if it’s 650hp with a hi RPM V8, that will be ok, then couple years later the 850hp ZR1 version will be awesome as well. I guess I am of the age the Electric Corvettes don’t interest me at all, however I do realize that it is the future of most autos, trucks, etc. Just hope it’s 20 or so years away and I won’t care. This will need 600hp/600tq to be anything special even as a concept. It will need to average over 30mpg and have a 0-60 time in 2.5 second range. I can't imagine it selling for any cheaper than $75k starting, and that's where the old gen Z06 was at on showroom floors.
Its not about horsepower. Its about torque, and electric motors have their total torque available from the moment you stand on the throttle all the way through the rev range - thats the difference.

@@bobolulu7615 in AWD format yes it will be a nice step up from the base model but also kind of pointless. We don't really need another step between the Base and the Z06. The electric motors will turn this into even less of a track car, yet make it more impractical because the electric motors will take up available trunk space. IMO it doesn't make a lot of sense.

Will extra battery weight require more than 50 additional horsepower via electric motor(s) for getting into the 2 second club?
The E-Ray may be more to my liking than the ZO6 as I like off the line performance/acceleration vs tracking a car.
It’s not a Corvette IMO unless there’s a V8 involved. I’m willing to then accept all the extra power I can get by the addition of electric motors.
Oh yeah, and let’s do something to add a better stock exhaust to that LT2 athan having the majority of people talking about and/or going to aftermarket exhaust systems.
On a cold start, the C8 engine sounds so promising, but when it goes into an idle at around 600 RPM, it’s sort of a big let down! I don’t need to shake the neighbor’s house, maybe just wake them up!

Good video but I reckon the e ray won't really feel like an awd cause it will be an eAwd system with only 50hp on the front and 500 in the rear
With everything I'm hearing, Chevy is building a more compact version of its Bolt motor (200HP, and 266lb/ft @ 0 RPM) to install in the 'frunk' of the ERay, combined with the 490hp LT2. Its gonna be quicker than the beastly flat-plane crank C8 Z06 off the line, slightly slower in top end. Better mileage, significantly more torque, and far more reliable than a high RPM flat-plane- for less $ than the Z06. Keep in mind electric torque peaks at 0RPM and feels insane. A 50hp electric motor has more torque at low RPMs than a powerful gas engine, but this will be well over 100hp! The first hybrid I'm excited about, and I'm not 'into' hybrids! The rumored Top-dog 'Vette (Zora) will combine this motor with the ZR1 engine (a flat plane crank Z06 engine + twin turbos) for a combined output of over 1000hp. So many radical flavors of the C8 Corvette on the horizon, be prepared for change!
@@jeladsnikpoh1289 Sounds awesome! I totally agree with what you're saying! It's very true that a 50hp motor doesn't sound much but because it's an electric motor it provides a lot of torque. If it's close to 100hp the E-ray it's going epic in my opinion and the C8 to get, especially in Europe with all the emission taxes. But to be honest the sound of the flat plane crank V8 in the Z06 it's just so awesome
With the current electric drive unit Chevy has 149 Hp and the 6.2 gas engine is 490 hp my math says 639 hp for the E Ray. Corporate math estimates 550 penciled in on the leaked memo with Z06 at 675 hp up from the original leaked 650. With math like that no wonder it took them so long to build a mid engine Corvette!

Going to cost a fortune...love mine outside of the non assist power doors , frunk and terrible paint quality! Meaning a small rock easily chips all the way through to the clear coat.

Yea, like the way everyone that drives a top fuel car gets lightheaded and blacks out the same with pilots during a carrier launch. I must blackout also my Chevelle runs low 10s at the drag strip.

LOL an electric car with exhausts and radiators. The eRay is the Mach-e competitor. Its an all electric SUV.
A few things.
1) no way they can do full EV Vette before 2030-5. It's simple, tech not there and gas engines are super efficient. That's why only 5-8% are EV
2) Give me the Grand Sport nameplate!
3) AWD is awesome. My MK7 Golf R kicked ass! Tuned to 400+HP 380TQ. It handled like nothing else!
4) Extra weight & numb steering not good. Let's hope the steering is good.
5) Vettes dont hold their value. These ain't Lambos or Ferraris. Right now C8 are good due to lack of inventory. Period
6) I want a FLATPLANE C8 GRAND SPORT AWD!

@@ashleyalvarez6749 They hold their value naturally the same as any other sports car in equivalent condition and mileage. The reason used vettes feel so cheap is because they start out pretty cheap to begin with. C7's are going for a massive premium right now due to covid used market run and C8 inventory being low.

I'm I totally disagree with you. This car will not be the one to get. Look at the Acura NSX, If GM who's this route it will fail. The only way that you will be successful if its the 1000 words power monster O with a drive. We live in a world where you can buy 800hp for 70k . E ray will surely be at least 100 K. In that alone will turn off the future buyers.
I'm a Corvette owner and I think the Tesla coupe is WAY better looking than the C8.
They could at least take some of the ugly off of it.
