Awesome video bro. You never disappoint. I owned 5 Rolex, including a quartz one, very unique. I sold them years ago and now I own the first G-Shock and most of the vintage Squares. Some Cosmo Phases and some of the Game Watches. I wouldn't go back, not because Casio is better but because I never enjoyed my Rolex collection as much as I enjoy this one. Cheers mate.
you are absolutely right, most of the people will not go for that but its all about mental satisfaction of owning something like Casio, if i own rolex, i would definitely go for casio's master piece . . .
Hey I sold my two 1980's Rolex when I saw they increased 200% in 2022, one being a solid gold 18038 the other being a modified (PVD coated & no I'm not responsible for that) Daytona 6265, we changed windows and I bought more vintage watches. Idk seems like the best thing I did since I started collecting in 2005...
Brilliant and insightful as always, my friend. I still feel privileged to have looked at and held your Casio Cosmic Phase watch when we met for coffee last year. 😊
Great list. I have another idea: Top 3 most iconic classic digitals from each major brand! Timex Ironman Triathlon & Atlantis, Citizen Ana-Digi Temp, Seiko g757, Casio F-91w, etc.
Can you find a cosmo phase mint (any model) for $400? Also, the CGW500 looks really good on a light blue or gray strap. I like the 500 and the 91 because you can swap out the straps and really bring them to life. The 91 looks amazing on brown with white stitching, kind of steam punk aesthetic.
Awesome list. Though the Rolex is superlative, I'd be tempted by the likes of the 4k Mr G square, all steel Casioak and would still have more than half to play around!
Great idea for a video, very interesting too. Lots of cheap watches or one expensive watch?🤔 My collection is definitely on the cheap and cheerful side. I'm glad you want to keep the family connection as that's worth more than just cash in hand 👍
Thanks man! As always I’ve always been more interested in the story of a watch than the monetary value. Fortunately the family connection ensured the Rolex has that (otherwise it may be in more danger …)
Those are some super cool watches! These watches are watches for people in the know. You would walk past people and they would not even know how awesome these watches are. The Citizen Aqualand and reversible Omega looks very cool!
Thanks man. I would notice. Stood in the queue picking one of my kids up from school the other day - saw one of the other dads and we both had on first gen x-33s. Immediate nods of respect
Rolex sadly doesn't have that anymore. Most people who buys them these days do it for clout and investment. Its rare that you find an enthusiast buying one simply for owning one.
I would buy one automatic watch probably from the Swatch group like an omega, Longines or Tissot with popular easy to repair ETA movements then the rest on some vintage Seiko, Casio and Citizen watches.
There are digital grails ? ;). JP 2000 … the only Dive watch I’ve actually seen fought over at “ issue time “ …. I kid you not . Great choices in the vid !
At least three watches I want, the Rotowound thingy and Ive long wanted an Aqualand the middle non weird one. and that orrery , well none of them are lookers, im quite shallow
After collecting watches since childhood which is coming up for half a century and being fortunate enough to have worn a few so called desirable watches my advice is in two parts. If the watch from your dad has a special meaning to him, say a first good quality watch or a watch that marked a special moment in his life then I would recommend keeping it as a meaningful watch from a parent is a true heirloom and nothing is more valuable and, I hope this is a long way off, when he passes that watch will mean even more. If it has no special meaning and does not mean much to you then sell it and buy a watch or watches that you really love and are special to you. As good as a Rolex is ( I have owned three in the past) for me the steel models do not feel as special as a special watch should be. Virtually everyone and his aunt owns one, the styles are fairly average and what were once good value watches are now priced to crazy prices even at list. What did I end up with? A Grand Seiko, a decision I have never regretted six years after purchase. Anyone who really knows watches knows its a good watch and anyone who only knows name brands is not going to try to rob me of it when walking down the street. I can safely say the quality is a considerable level above a Rolex as well, think JLC nearing base level Patek and you get the idea. Having said all that, if a yellow gold day date ever came within my reach I would have it as it is a watch I have always loved the look of. Wear what makes your heart feel good, we don´t need watches these days so wear what you like the look of and that makes you smile when you look at it. I can tell you, unless your really shallow following the herd in higher end pieces is not a good idea!
I think you clearly have a well rounded perspective on things. I’m less about the objective value of things, and often even the quality, and more about the story , so as you say I would never sell my dads watch.
Fear not I won’t! Funnily enough the watch I most associate with my dad is a seiko kinetic and everyone tells me how terrible that is and to get rid of it 🤷♂️ (to be fair id probably only cover the costs of an f91w with the proceeds of sale!). It’s more the Rolex thing I’m challenging than the heirloom element
@@IlluminatingWatches LOL. Nope, just a guy who wishes i hadnt HAD TO sell some of my dads stuff to pay my rent back in the day. Also a guy who wishes I hadnt lost my dad early in my life. so keepsakes are very special to me.
If you enjoyed this video, then my guess is you may enjoy my video on the 50 years of casio in 10 minutes ->

Lots of great picks. I've always wanted the X33 too. Maybe someday. Thanks!
X-33 is a great watch !

That was a great video with most of those watches I have never seen before. Always liked those Heuer digitals!
Yes I think 80 and 90: digitals that aren’t the more popular casio models are slightly less desired. Retro digitals guys often more 70s focused

I was lucky enough to get mine for less than that, but the seller knew I’d the channel and I think was doing me a favour! Such a cool watch!

I still have my data link that i got on clearance for $25 lol. Always loved gadget style watches
Love a datalink! I’ve also got a soft spot for the more gadget oriented digitals.
I laughed heartily at this video’s title. Lol good one.

the space omega looks so cool, thanks for the video
Thankyou! Glad you like the watch. I agree!

Why 24 hour analoge dail is not a choice in companies like casio? It would be nice if there is a watch with two 24 analoge and digital.
Thanks
Ah yes that’s a great point! I can’t think off the top of my head
I won't do It myself, I LOVE retro digital watches but the sub is in my top 3 watches of all time.
I think that’s likely the opinion of most!
Pure digigasm. Thanks again for the content.
My pleasure!
Where can I get that Cosmo Phase manual?
There are digital grails ?
