"Hevdrok the Hero" is an original dwarven song in our Hammerdeep collection. We are continuing to develop our own Dwarven legend through multiple musical compositions. We hope you enjoy it:)
As much as I love it, I do think the lyrics are the weak link here. The melody and instrumentation are great here, as are your voices obviously, but the lyrics just don't flow quite as nicely for a multitude of reasons.
@ClamaviDeProfundis What do the Dwarven (I suppose?) language lyrics by the end mean? Haven't managed to figure it out. Seems like something like this: Hevungor [Hammerdeep?], remember the bravery Of Hevdrok, who killed the enemy Being slain himself, defeated Zargi [two verses I can't guess without getting too random, something about bring peace/freedom to the city?] By killing our enemy. How close am I?
That's the struggle all dragons face. A dragon has to defeat ten thousand dwarven heroes to take a mountain, but only one of those dwarves has to hold in order to secure victory.
It feels like this song is hearkening back to Clamavi De Profundis's older works in style and tone, which I absolutely love because those are the songs that first made me fall in love with this group's music. Also love seeing the hand-drawn art again.
I love the contrast between "Flee from the death heat lest you burn and die" and the immediate next line "Stand strong; fight your fear". We should run, but we will stand.
Magnificent as always. Hevdrok wasn't satisfied just killing a dragon, he chose a dragon-mage to give his all against! Bragging rights worthy of Boic Bravesoul himself I'd say.
"Hm, this Dwarf RIPPED MY WING OFF with his BARE HANDS, so clearly the optimal way to deal with this situation is to exchange my armored Draconic body for a human form and get within melee combat distance of him. Surely this will in no way have any negative consequences for me." -Zargi the Dragon-Mage
"I'm going to create clouds of steam and change into my human form so I can ambush this dwarf then run him through" It was a good plan, but the stubborn Dwarf refused to die alone.
They probably would start off on drakes and wyverns first. Those dragons be mighty darn vain and proud, so it'd take some time for the dwarves to figure out how to best go about breaking them of those traits.
@@zacharycunningham7669 To be honest, I expect dwarfs to try with the biggest dragon they can possibly capture. They are dwarfs after all, stubborness issues.
@@marcelgrabowski5939 Ah but look at it this way: They start off small, then work their way up, just to make sure that when they do get to the actual dragons, they'll know exactly how to get it right, the first time.

This is one of the best songs I've ever hear! (I say that every time I hear you) Thanks for this song and the excellent hamerdeep saga! May god bless you over and over again!
So happy to see the drawings come back in the Hammerdeep collection! it feels like the dwarves are doing the art themselves as if it was like a mural they were working on. I absolutely missed it!! Amazing stuff as always!!
this song grows on me the more and more i relisten to it, but that final part that switches to dwarvish gives me goosebumps everytime, the dwarves of hammerdeep have truly crafted another fine piece of musical craftsmanship with this one
Ive been running a d&d campaign (and have been using hammerdeepas a setting). One of the climax battles that took place last year was the party fighting along the dwarves of Molten Citadel. They were called to defend a city just outside hammerdeep. The King was locked in battle with a red dragon leading the forces, while the party rushed to defend the city. When the party defended the city they returned to find the King dead in battle, surrounded by the dead enemy army and a slain dragon. The party lead the remaining dwarven army in the liberation of Hammerdeep. The king known as Thorbane The Imolator and was regarded as a War Hero later on.
imagine the amount of dorf ire it takes to evade the death heat, leap astride a dragon, fell it to a tower, then pursue the wounded dragon mage to fight hand to hand.
“Hevdrok In Caution Waded To The Shore, Till Steaming Flames blazed Nigh Him With A Roar” And Hevdrok From Water Scalding Stony Skin, Sprang Forth In Valor Fortitude Within, And as Dwarf and Dragon Took Their Final Breath, Hevdrok’s Mighty Axe Blade Sealed His Foe In Death.” These are my favorite lines. It’s inspirational for me.🏰🛡️⚔️
I listened to the song and was amazed, and then I read your description and was stunned! Your creativity and imagination are boundless! And the vocals (as usual) are incredible! Will we get to hear more about Negankerdak and those stories, by the way? God bless!
I want to sing this with C.D.P. in a smokey pub with tall, foamy pints of beer slung and swung. Would you all ever consider a fan event? I would fly from the United States in a heartbeat! God bless!
Have you ever run across Tennyson's translation of the Old English Poem "The Battle of Brunanburh?" It rolls along like thunder even without music. Even if it isn't your cup of tea (it is a VERY unapologetic brag about how many enemies the West Saxons killed), you might find it useful as inspiration for lyrics.
Hey i've been a faithful listener in all your songs. But truly i'd love some epic songs about elves. How their never ending vigilance have keept the darkness away. How kinslayers would regret their decision but still chose to fight for life. How the Eldar marcher upon Thangorodrim with vengeance in their hearts and the light of Eru in their eyes. Anything about the truly undying ones who have to live with their decision for eternity. You know which universe i'm talking about ;) Best Regards!
Can you make a video about the work behind these majestic songs? I'm very curious since all I could find in your channel were songs and no behind the scenes.
This would be a GREAT song for a guy to help his little son who is having "bravery issues" just explain to the kid that no matter how big the trauma is, his courage to get through the sad days will help him in the long run 😊 new parents out there? What did you think?
I love the "dwarf vs dragon" theme. It reminds me of my youth and finding certain books. No, not the original recipie, the Hobbit with Thorin and Smaug. No it was the Forgotten Realms books esp the Dark Elf series from R.A. Salvatore. why? simple the Battlehammer clan was chased out Mithril Hall by the shadow dragon Shimmergloom. in the Champions of the Hall, they aim to find and and reclaim this dwarven home. Breunor straps a flaming keg (can't remember if it was explosive power or not ...hey! I did say this was my childhood fave, it's been near 30 yrs!) to his back and jumps on Shimmergloom to finally defeat the dragon.
Curse you Zargi! I hereby vow! You will rue this day! Behold, a true drake warrior! And I, Hevdrok! Your fear made flesh! Solid of scale you might be, foul dragon... But i will riddle with holes your rotten hide! With a hail of ballistae! With every last drop of my being!
I was wondering…do you sell the sheet music your songs? There are a few in particular our family would love to learn to play and sing, but the dwarven verses especially are getting tricky to pick out… 🙂 ~Fans

The dwarves only have to be lucky once. The dragon has to be lucky every time.
are we RP:ing on RUclips now? is that what's happening here?
True that. Dwarf privilege is outrageous.
I think this is the first time I have heard the word "ballistae" in a song. I love it.
I’ve heard “ballista” in a video from Epic Rap Battles of history but this is the first time I’ve heard “ballistae”
