I changed the outer basket, all the shocks, the & front weight. Still hearing the banging noise. Could it be the springs? I don’t want to spend anymore money on it. Only if I know it will fix it. Do springs ever stretch out enough to let the tub wobble that much
Those shock absorbers are not really shock absorbers. They are just metal tubes in plastic sleeves with some grease. What they should do or an aftermarket company should make is a proper shock absorber that has pneumatic capabilities and would act as a real dampener. Frankly, they are really cheap junk. We have one of these LG washers and I have replaced the spyder alloy part that attaches to the drum and then the motor bolts onto it also. It cracked badly and the drum was really out of balance. I did replace all 3 "shock absorbers". Put the thing back together and I am finding a WE code that means unbalanced. I tried re-levelling the unit. The clothes are very heavy and wet at the end of the cycle. Wife is not happy and very vocal about this. So I installed new springs and bought some small absorption pads for the feet of the machine. I have the top off and ran a good-sized load on the normal setting, what I noticed is the drum is moving around a lot. The motor did not seem to be at a high enough speed. Stopped the cycle and adjusted the spin cycle to extra high speed. The drum stopped shaking so much and the motor ran at a high speed, much smoother. The clothes came out as dry as they should. No, WE code. Progress, but now I am getting water on the floor and found the big grey front seal has a rip and that will need replacement. Also noticed that the hot water valve is corroded and has a tiny bit of water on it at the top, guess I will have to replace that too. Frankly, I am getting to know this damn washer way too well. Remember the old ones that ran for 20 years and never broke?
At this point I think you should just replace it! I am on my 2nd lg washing machine. My first one was a lg intellow washer 7kg 1200spin and ran for years with no problems until it was about 9 10 years old and the drum started to go and sometimes the program would just get stuck on rinse around 22 or 32 minutes left for ages doing absolutely nothing and then suddenly just start up again 🤷🏻♂️ it was old but was always faithful till the end. Got one of the newer lg smart ThinQ turbowash 6 motion washers and it’s just as good as my old one probably a little better had no problems yet bar if it’s under half a load it will not spin so I make sure it’s full and it’s fine then and completes the load no problem. The springs and damper could do with more tension as it’s gets unbalanced quite easily. And the older machines used to brake a lot to my dads old hotpoint and indesit broke down loads of times when I was kid in the 1990s they both washed are clothes for 4 us when we was kids. So not just newer ones. Lol

Most commonly a washer will shake like that when its out of balance. If the load can be distributed equally on the springs, the inertia will shake it. As a result, the shocks will wear out extremely fast. Rule #1-ensure the unit is level. Then replace the shocks, and last, dont overload thw washer.
I have this model and I am in the process of replacing the bellows because it is leaking, can these shock be re-lubed or will they have to be replaced?
I have the lg model WM2050CW which looks very much like the one have. Anyway i think i have a bad problem and im hoping you can get me headed in the right direction to repair it. The other day i was in another room when i heard something like a grimding noise while it was in full speed of the spin cycle. I ran in and stopped it while it was making the noise. I opened the door and removed the wet clothes and tried to turn the tub by hand. I turned it slowly and could hear something metal scrubbing the underside of the metal tub. It only moved about 8 inches and stopped. I cannot move it in either direction now. The tub is locked up, or at least something is hung up and preventing it from turning. Im wondering what msy have came apart or broke that could have made the metal to metal scapping noise when i turned the tub? Do you have an idea of what the problem may be? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm a 60 year old living on disability who needs to back surgeries. Crawling around on the ground kills me, but at this time, i can't afford a new washer. Thanks
I have same iss for LG WM9000HVA, i changed all shocks observe include tow Suspension Spring still tub shaking, i don't know what i have to do to fix ?
Shocks are the least expensive starting point. In my case there seemed to be no bearing issue by manually rotating and moving of stator on back of washer. I replaced the 3 shocks, ran a test load and still had major shaking in spin cycle especially. The next step I pulled the outer tub assembly out. After separating the tub and pulling inner tub out the obvious problem was a cracked spider unit that attaches to back of inner stainless tub and has the shaft where the direct drive motor attaches (with a bit ot research found out this was a common problem with older LG washers). At this point I decided to order all the parts required to do a full tub repair. This included 2 new bearings, bearing seal and new outer rubber seal for outer plastic tub. There bearing seemed ok but when you get to this point you might as well replace everything. Replaced everything and reassembled... Voila, all is good. Like I mentioned the cast aluminum spider is a known issue on at least some LG washers. One spoke was completely cracked with another hairline crack on another spoke. If that totally let go at 1000 rpm spin cycle it would have trashed the entire tub assembly I am sure. As it is now I am hoping for another bunch of years of service. I invested about $450 Canadian, including the 3 new shocks. If I had to pay a repair guy to do it I would have just scrapped it. I would say if you have at least a intermediate mechanical level you can do this repair yourself. There are other very good videos for specific makes on the appliance repair parts you tube channels. Go for it!
I have an LG wm2010cw and it will occasionally get out of balance, mostly side to side and there is a large dent in left side of washer because of this. Sound like a shock issue?
@@giftedhandsappliancerepair8467 I actually ordered a set of new shocks before even looking at it and when I cracked it open boy was I surprised! 1 shock completely apart and doing nothing, the second was completely shot and close to falling apart, and the third was barely doing anything at all. I dealt with this issue for at least 6 years, would've changed these way sooner if I'd known it was such a simple fix! Been running great for last several months. Thanks!
Cracks me up these front loaders are supposedly energy efficient ok less water than a TOP loader but with a TOP loader a load of wash is usually done in 45 minutes to say an hour.. FRONT Loader less water ALMOST 2 hours under a normal wash cycle. How is that energy efficient? Yes, a Top loader uses far more water, and usually, the water bill is cheaper by a lot.. avg water bill per three months, say $100.+/- now our avg Electric bill is roughly $300.+/- plus the front loader take roughly Two hours and again our Top loader takes roughly 40mins too an hour and I ask what out of the two utilities cost less? Water plus most people are in an extreme rush.. That's not my issue. Mine is the amount or time it takes the front loader in a NORMAL / SANITARY / ALLERGEN Cycle. Yes, I'm aware of the Speed wash cycle or the Bulk wash. Our LG Front loader without changing the soil level during a Speed wash is about 20 minutes up to I believe an hour and a half if you change the soil level. We only updated our washer as it caused less damage to clothing vs. a top loader with an agitator.. yes, if you do a small of med sized load, it's better for your clothes in a top loader. I'm just glad our say 20+ year old kitchen Aid top loader is still ready to go. I don't recall a single top loading washing machine in my life needing repairs as a Metter of fact the KitchenAid has never needed service other than hose upgrades. Now as the washer and dryer is in the climate controlled basement we also have a true vintage top loader washer where the agitator goes up and down super fast and it to still lasted longer than our LG Front loader.. As for your video, Dude, you ROCK!!! if only all RUclips producers added all the info you give and you showed us other possible issues and no annoying/ in some cases unnecessary or load music. I sincerely hope this video gets millions of views! And I 👍 👍 👍 👍 👍 and subscribed. Happy New Years 2025!! Thanks again, Eddie J. Long Island N.Y.
Dude you are not supposed to use diagnostics mode with cloth inside. It even says in the manual. During diagnostics it doesn't have a chance to tumble and distribute cloth evenly .
They're garbage machines like most new appliances now. Over engineering at its finest, old top loaders ran forever because they were very simple designs. I have the same model in this video, had to replace water pump twice within first two years because they're poorly designed using plastic turbine which doesn't last and now I'm certain my bearings are shot, at least I only paid $45 for the unit at a goodwill store and these fixes aren't worth doing on these junk machines so I'm going back to old style top loader next. Ironic as mine just broke down I saw another one of these units sitting at the curb at a neighbors house for garbage pickup where they belong.
Mine was doing that , just replaced it with a Bosch , LG is the worst washing machine i have ever had , PCB board error , bairings and rotor need replacing, burning smell coming from the machine , wasn't worth fixing .
Awesome, direct, presice info from a very knowledgeable tech! Thank you sir!

You are good, thank you for sharing it with very good quality in teaching and spreading knowledge.

Happened to me too. Thanks to you I solved the issue

Friction in between inner and outer tub, Bad tub bearing.

Make sure drain pump is pumping out all water and working while in spin mode, make sure counter weights arent broken, check tub support and bearings,

Worn out shock absorbers
