Most impressive part for me was that Jon didnt use strikes to close the distance, he used his stance and pressure. First leg kick Gane threw was almost caught/instanly ate a right hand for it. Never went to it again. Jones hardly ever fighting (not sparring) a legit big striker with reach, yet not over extending at all is cold blooded levels of calm. Thats just born fight iq man
Ye first thing I noticed too was how Jon shut down Gane's bladed footwork by planting his feet where Gane's feet wanted to be so Gane's practically tripping over every time he tries to exchange.
Watching live, I thought Jon looked rusty. I don't know why, cause after re-watching, he was perfect. Good faints, sharp kicks, timing, counters. He's the man.
Jon was rusty and even he knew it which is why he wasn’t entirely satisfied with the win. He lacked fluidity of movement, looked a bit lethargic, heavy feet, not as quick, etc but he’s strong and still the best wrestler in the game.
I think I was just a nervous wreck watching it live. He looks better than I remembered. I don't know what point I'm trying to make here, but I do know I would die a happy man watching Jon and Francis in the ring together. Hopefully, that fight happens.
@@cmag8102 Hopefully, but I think Francis needs the Jones fight more than Jones needs the Francis fight, especially if Jones beats Stipe. If Francis loses to Fury and never fights in the UFC again, his legacy will never come close to Jones's legacy. Hopefully that fight happens though
Gane was scared AF going into this fight. The first strike he attempted was an accidental groin shot which further proves that he was very nervous. And I can't really blame him, fighting the GOAT in his long awaited return on such a big stage must've really put a lot of pressure on his shoulders. I was still dissapointed though, expected him to put up a decent fight at least
Obviously he wasn't scared. We know that's a goofy as hell lie. No man that has shared an octagon with Ngannou without fear is going to be afraid to fight someone else. There is a distinct difference between fear and nerves. Gane was probably nervous. There is a lot of pressure placed upon you when fighting the goat. But to say he was actually scared of him is a silly af fallacy
Accidental groin shots don't happen because fighters are scared. Jesus.. you guys sound so confident in your nonsense. That you actually believe what you are saying is true.
@@rzn2258 I know that what I'm saying is true from personal experience... who tf are you to question the authenticity of my statement exactly? I've been a competitive taekwondo fighter for the past 8 years and when I'm in a tough matchup I sometimes do illegal strikes due to nervousness even though I have perfect accuracy during sparring. This is a well known phenomenon in striking martial arts and can happen when someone is fighting scared or under pressure. The fact that you even question this immediately tells me you're definitely not a fighter. I'm not claiming to be 100% certain Gane was scared there, but there's a big chance he was

If that nobody manhandled Tom, imagine what Jon would do.
The way jon slipped the straight, right into the body lock and then immediately shifted sides and used his momentum to complete the takedown. That’s what’s always been the difference with Jon his technique and execution reflect how complete his skill set is

I think the Size will decrease Jon's Striking versatility but I also think it's made him an even more Dominant grappler, he just flows to well on top covering their hips, and HWTs are far more willing to burn a round on their back trying to get a sub then work their asses off to stand 250lbs up compared to lightheavyweights

If u watch Ngannou vs Gane you think "this guy Gane lost but he's a very good fighter". When you watch Jones vs Gane you think "how this guy Gane can be in a top 5 ranking in ufc?". Just another day in the Goat office.
Ngannou was a shell of himself against Gane due to the knee injury, that's the only reason the fight was competitive. Gane couldn't even beat a fat, past-prime Jon Jones.
Jon also had his knee right on his solar plexus, he tapped so quickly because he literally couldn't breathe and was having all the air forced out of his lungs. I think what makes Jon Jones so great is that he's not fighting just to win, go undefeated, keep a title or for the fame. Don't get me wrong he does want all those things just not when he steps into the octagon. When he's in the ring it's as if he's fighting as if his life is on the line. Like it's kill or be killed, the way he ends his fights or if he finishes a fighter there's a beautiful brutality to it. Jon love's that rush/high you get when everything is on the line which is why he's lived his life until his break like there's no tomorrow at least for him. Which is why I find his embrace into Religion to be ginuen, the way he was living his life was leading him to nowhere but self destruction and internal implosion. This man is by far the best fighter to ever step into the octagon
You couldn't be more wrong. Out of all the elite fighters Jon has always been one of the most defensively minded, kind of like GSP, for example. Jones is more than happy to play it safe and win via decision. Winning and staying undefeated is what matters to him by far the most, not finishing a fight. Leave that "Kill or to be killed" label to fighters that actually fit the definition with their fighting style, like Fedor or Wanderlei Silva, etc.
@@Mattipatti23 I didn't ask for your long winded opinion that quite frankly is far from the truth.
That's the thing. He was rusty, and he still won. That's why he is the GOAT.

Gane was scared AF going into this fight. The first strike he attempted was an accidental groin shot which further proves that he was very nervous.

As impressive as this victory was I kinda felt like Jone's striking has slowed down significantly. Theres a high chance he might get caught by a young heavy striker like Sergei, but if it goes to the ground its gonna be JBJ all day.
There's a reason why he won't fight Sergei and "wasn't ready to fight" till Francis left UFC.

That's facts.
ye people cant even comprehend the difference of Jones and everyone else... they will always make excuses but my money will always be on him
Francis and gane didnt wrestly much so that made him look good i bet
I agree but his knee definitely doesn’t look like it’s on the solar plexus
You couldn't be more wrong. Out of all the elite fighters Jon has always been one of the most defensively minded, kind of like GSP, for example. Jones is more than happy to play it safe and win via decision. Winning and staying undefeated is what matters to him by far the most, not finishing a fight. Leave that "Kill or to be killed" label to fighters that actually fit the definition with their fighting style, like Fedor or Wanderlei Silva, etc.
@@Mattipatti23 I didn't ask for your long winded opinion that quite frankly is far from the truth. Same here. For sure it’s scripted. UFC long awaited goat comes back and I’m sure Dana paid Gane to allow Jones to win. I think if Jones beats Stipe, he’s gonna retire. Then Gane will will fight for real again and get that belt.
@@mxbblife_muwrong. Jones is the poster boy for UFC. UFC fans and Dana want Jones to be champ and the face of UFC again since he’s back. This fight was scripted. Open your eyes.
@@lonerboiiiii Dana doesn't give a damn who is Champion, he's getting paid regardless. The UFC publicly criticizes Jones every single time he gets arrested.... They don't try to sweep it under the rug like they do Conor or anyone else they really like.
This shit ain't scripted...the Biggest Strongest Wrestler in the UFC got a hold of a French kickboxer's neck and strangled him until he tapped.
Wrong
The optimism in DCs voice at the Beginning 😂
With Ngannou's strength, Jones will have to do something very different though. And he'll have to very careful with Ngannou's knockout power.
@@seriustraco Shouldn't have waited 3 years to sign the contract.
@@seriustraco Ngannou's hardest stylistic matchup was Curtis Blaydes, and he smoked him 2x.
Cope better.
Ummm this was clearly a fake fight. Literally any Heavyweight ESPECIALLY NGANNOU provided they aren't payed to lose like in this instance, would absolutely destroy Jones.
@@seriustraco Ain't reading allat, but good for you.
@@seriustraco Cyril doesn't have Ngannou's strength. Yes, striking he was effective as he was against Jones until Jones took him down to grappling. Now, consider Jones grappling Ngannou... a far stronger guy with some decent wrestling. That would be interesting. In terms of striking, Jones is inferior to Ngannou with exception to his elbow trump card which relies heavily on element of surprise. If Ngannou has half a brain to study defense that elbow, Jones got nothing to stop a Ngannou onslaught on feet.
Looks like a well arranged fight
It’s funny how no one did notice that Jones won…
the audio is delayed for copyright reasons, smartass
The videos behind that’s why
This is a very suspicious fight to me
😂😂😂I thought I was the only one. The fight looks slow(and fake) and it looks like he was paid to loose. That is not the gane I know. He didn't defend the take down. It looks like a staged fight.
I think the same
The look on Ciryl's face at the end tells a lot!
Who's here after gane vs spivak lmao
Heavyweight is dog-shit. Spivak was a mentally weak punching bag.
Heavyweight sucks. Gane did nothing special in that fight, Spivak is one-dimensional and has no fight IQ.
Its scary because...Cyril Gane is not a bad fighter, he is very capable and young but Jon made it look so easy like it was nothing
2:23 Ciryl had the chance to put John in a guillotine but for some reason didn't even attempt it. The left hook before the take down also looked like it was thrown with no intention to hurt anyone.
Jones left hand was preventing gane to put him in a guillotine
Man didn't even fight the hands of the choke😂
Exactly!!!! Gane took a dive
@@alexmulugeta9582 Exactly.and stipe fight could be a fixed one too if jon is retiring.they want to retire the goat with a win.biased jones fans don't understand anything.i'm not hating on jon.he is the GOAT.but he isn't the same anymore.he lost against reyes and got gifted the win.same things gonna be happen again an again.
@@hasindukumara5358 Yes you are hating on jon.
You cant call him the goat and then say the fight is fixed in the same sentence. He wouldnt be the goat if his fights were fixed. Mental gymnastics.
The truth is you people love conspiracy. And what is really messed up is that you will probably take this comment as an insult. Even though i havent said anything that isnt true, and i havent said anything with hostile intent.
Aristotle says it best. You are confused.
