That’s the difference between an experienced professional and someone first starting out. Even the smaller details such as the feints, the openings and then landing the final blow after setting it up.
MMA and Boxing are 2 totally different sports. Just because both involve punching does not mean they are the same thing. Just like a boxer would get destroyed in an MMA ring, an MMA fighter would get destroyed in a boxing ring. I do not know how Tyson Fury almost got whooped by Francis. Cough, Refs, Cough.
Tyson Fury says he took the fight seriously and really trained for Ngannou. Others say that he didn't Ngannou seriously like he took Deontay Wilder and others. I think Fury underestimated Ngannou's strength. I also think that Fury wanted to give the fans a show like Mayweather did with McGregor, so he didn't plan to finish Ngannou so quickly. But after that knock down and several serious blows from Ngannou, Fury realized that he has to put him down. But underestimated how strong he was. So Fury decided to beat Ngannou by points. Ngannou being an amateur didn't realize Fury was outpointing him and lost.
Beautiful how Joshua noticed that Francis steps in when he throws his jab so when he saw the jab coming he threw the overhand right at the same time and Francis ran into that bomb.
The mess Fury created ain't getting cleared unless he beats - or at least puts on an admirable performance against Usyk. Boxing vs. MMA was semi-relevant in 2005 when Dana White and Joe Rogan were trying to push his "this ain't your dad's combat sport" campaign despite both of them being boxing fans themselves but even then it was only that kind of weirdness and shit like Mayweather trying to be like "mma is for white people who can't make it in boxing" and all kinds of equally stupid shit on both sides that kept it in the headlines. If it weren't for that, nobody would've cared even back then, let alone now. Fury's mess is his own, AJ just did business as usual here, nothing more.
I can't believe people think the fight was rigged. People are so clueless, LOL. Striking the Predator to the canvas three times in a row is not luck. It's pure skill, training and precision. Power, speed and excellent ring IQ. If you didn't already know it or hear it, that's the biggest right hand this man has ever seen. Aside from the Klitschko fight, this is the toughest AJ has ever looked. The way he walked around the ring after the knockout made him look like a trained killer. These two men are enormous. It's scary how much muscle collided that night.
I've you've ever trained in any kind of boxing or muay thai, you know how obvious it was that it only took Joshua half the first round to figure Francis out. The range control, the baiting, Francis just looked like such an amateur in there. Joshua doing basic boxing things that Francis wasn't even aware of. Completely open, loops every punch. Paws at everything. Forgone conclusion. People all thought Francis was gonna win based on his power alone lol. But like... Joshua is equally powerful, just as athletic, and just as big, bigger even. And that skill and experience gap is massive.
Even Jon Jones said a few years ago that he would never fight Anthony Joshua in a boxing ring if he ever entered one 😂 Clearly Jones had a better sense of heavyweight boxing power than Ngannou. AJ basically shut the doors permanently to any adventurous fighter from a different sports that might have been interested in entering the boxing ring 🥊 lol not anymore.
If you listen to what he says though. The biggest he's seen LIVE.. meaning being there and seeing it in person...not many K.O reels can hold up against Tyson's... don't get me wrong been loads of greats over the years, but imo Mike rules.
Joshua exploited a tendency that Francis showed in is fight against Fury, which is to extend his left arm as a counter left hook. Joshua was throwing a step forward right cross which beats Francis's counter left hand, and finds a clean opening to Francis's jaw. It was as simple as that, as well as the fact that Joshua is at least as formidable in terms of physicality as Francis, if not more.

@@YNW_QI I think you're wrong on the idea that Wilder would ko him in under 1 min. Wilder has no skill and is pretty much just a power right hand.... almost sounds like Ngannou as well hower Ngannou actually seems to be quicker and uses a wider range of punches. Honestly Ngannou beats Wilder, Wilder has learnt nothing in his career or even after losing and has stuck with the same trash trainer through all his losses.

The biggest difference between a professional boxer and an MMA boxer is the defense and countering ability. An MMA boxer can have good offense and good power, but their defense is lightyears behind. Their chin is straight up, they have no head movement, and their hands are always down. As for countering ability, a pro boxer has seen every punch imaginable and they know all the ways to slip and counter it.
Yes. He's sleeping on money he got paid by being knocked out. So that AJ could get more fights in the future.

It cant be any more clear that boxing is an insanely complex sport in its own right. A champion caliber boxer should only fight other champion caliber boxers. Much love and respect for Nganou, but these heavyweight champion caliber boxers have been at it since age 5. That’s a lot of chess matches to draw experience from. I think the mania surrounding novelty matches has gotten people whipped Into a frenzy over the big money they bring. Someone is going to get seriously hurt before it all blows over. Great punching as expected from AJ.
Crazy because AJ started at 18
Am didn’t start boxing till he was 18 and still was an ABA amateur champ, Olympic gold medalist and two time heavyweight champion in pros. Insane resume considering he didn’t start boxing until he was a young adult
Now lets bring aj to ufc
Ngannou has a shot to win any fight with his power. He's not the most skilled but he's obviously a good student
Honestly as ridiculous as these matches are I think these are good for everyone to see. We’re so used to boxers vs boxers that sometimes the skill level is hard to measure when everyone at the top is so high level. And it leaves the question open for ppl to ask how strikers in other combat sports measure up.
When you put a guy like AJ against a world class non-boxer striker like Ngannou it puts in perspective the level of skill elite boxers hold in their respective sport. Puts the non-specialists vs specialist debate to rest in my eyes. As much as these freak show fights are disliked I hope they give a new appreciation of boxing to the next generations.
this is an unfair fight, tyson took it as an exhibition style fight, this made francis think he is a boxer, AJ wanted to put those flames out, if you notice, AJ didn't give it his all, he just didn't want Ngannou to get too confident, AJ showed him its his sport.
Perfectly put. Fury gave Ngannou that false sense of invincibility and diluted his view of the real skill gap. AJ stuffed that out quick.

Apparently boxing's equivalent to "1 leg kick is all it would take in MMA" is "1 straight right is all it would take"

That was a surgical beating by Anthony Joshua.

To insinuate that this fight was rigged is basically saying that Ngannou is the greatest actor of all time and deserves an Oscar, a Tony, and every other acting award there is. He sold the shit out of that knockout. He collapsed so violently that his shoulders hit the canvas before his ass did; flawless execution. Aj's jab is seriously underrated.

Newsflash: that was 35 years ago now lol
Mike was not a great one punch ko artist, he threw combos. Joshua has legit one punch ko power
