That was me I said skyscraper with rockets lmao
One of the best lines I've ever heard for Piloting a huge Ship!
Fun fact. If you are doing trade runs and you go through a stargate and get the message "An unknown ship scanned your ship" warning. Just save your game and then reload the game. You don't get hijacked after that. Also you don't need to dock correctly. After pressing Ctrl & H, you can just boost into the landing blue lines docking bit and it will dock you automatically. No need to be facing it the correct way. Speedier trading etc. Happy trading fellow SB2 pilots.
Didn't know you could dock without facing it "the proper way", thanks!
I believe there is a perk that gives any ship you pilot an extra 8 slots. I think its an adventure perk. There is also a Perk that will give you two extra drone slots on any ship you pilot. You can have 10 cargo slots and 4 drones. If you ad a Turret for capital ships you will have quite the defensive juggernaut. There is also a perk that will give you 40% faster warp speed. I would consider these perks essential for anyone who wants to become a trader.
Correct and initially the +8 wasn't supposed to work on Cargo Ships but Burak Dabak came out and said it would. The +Warp Speed is a no brainer.
It doesnt work, not in the current version of the game at least. Actually, pretty much nothing but warp speed from the alertness atribute, improve this trading activity in any way, I tested a couple of perks and stats, nothing makes a difference, not even the actual "trader" stat that increases with the intelligence atribute.
This game looks pretty interesting. Thanks for sharing !
You're welcome.
I had no plans of doing any trading, but now I’m considering it. Seems really cool!
I'm happy that gameplay loop is in the game even if it's still a little janky.
Thank you for all the cool information! 😎
No problem at all, thanks for watching.
Appreciate all the tests and the video!
You're welcome.
Interesting to see what Trading will become once we get acces to dark web stuff.... For now (even with the latest patch) it is fairly simple, and a little bit boring.
Some trading missions would be great... like Get medics to a system or make sure x-factory gets robotic parts.
There's so many cool ideas the Dev could add to make this game literally the best Space Sim ever created (short of maybe graphically). It's clear he has a lot more in store for us but yes, Trading is very simple in it's current iteration.
He'll need to get Drones working properly to make Trading viable IF we're to do deep Space stuff, like smuggling and what not. As it is right now, Drones are useless, so is your Squad.
I forgot to add that when using the trade ship, don't forget to divert all power to your thrusters for quicker maneuvering/docking (left arrow key 2 presses). These ships are extremely slow.
Agreed.
Thanks for the information, cheers.
Welcome. thanks for watching.
I personally fly the trade ship from first person view it feels like a bit smoother to control this flying skyscrapper
I'll try that next time.
he probably planning to add dedicated shipyards and manage upgrades there, this setup always seems like a placeholder to me
That would make sense.
I assigned my own personal high level military personnel.. All of my military members are +25 in Piloting so I feel pretty relaxed traveling system to system
Do you mean the 4 Squad Members on either side of your "Portrait" in the Faction tab? If so then yeah, that certainly would help.
@@delindsay yea basically lol them 4 and my drones should take care of any possible pirates
if a trade hub sells a commodity, it's linked complex will also sell that commodity but 9% cheaper. If the trade hub is selling say 100 then so will the complex. Took me a while and many wasted trade runs to figure that out. Enjoy your trading folks. 7mil+ buying Robotics from complex and selling at highest trading hub. Complexes are usually only about 8ish AU away from a stargate. You make more money quicker. I used to get about 10-12mil a trip since the update. 7mil is still worthy
Indeed, that is the superior method of Trading.
Cargo Resizer is currently set as too low on the load priority list. I've bug reported it, but take note if you have the perk. If you reload the game during your trade run, the game engine will delete cargo in excess of your max ship slots. You can lose a lot of luxury goods this way. Best bet right now is to save at the place you're planning to buy the trade goods, and reload to here if anything on the run goes wrong. This means backtracking after a problem takes much longer, but reloading on a Galactic Carrier with both ranks of CR drops me back to 5/5 slots from 14/5. I have a feeling it's doing the same thing to regular ships if you reload after raiding a village, but haven't yet sold all the loot. All those fancy items at the end of the list are going poof.
At some point I'll do an updated Trading video. This was done the day it came out and none of us knew anything about the new addition.
these haulers can also been bought in the factionhangars
Indeed they can. I can't remember which Patch he added that functionality though.
LOL. That ship wasn't made for that tiny landing pad.
Seriously.
i think cargo slots would be an intersting addition to them. I was planning ot get one to do ore transport for mining, but really confused they only had 2-5 slots. but, goods trading seems fine, if you don't mind waiting *even longer* for warp, since the max slowdown is only 87% no matter how far you are overweight
Mining Ore takes zero slots. Ore is not counted in Cargo slots. Ore only takes up Mass on the ship so the ships ability to carry more weight is what is important. Also the mining ship has special sensors to indicate asteroids you might be interested in. It has the ability to carry the Misactor as well.
I am brand brand new to this game. I've seen a video of a guy in a fighter calling in a couple npc ships to help fight. Can you do that in trading to help cover your ship?
You sure can but, unless DBK has adjusted their AI they aren't terribly useful and sometimes even shoot you (low damage).
@7:55 you are looking at the "buy" column... if you look at the "sell" column those prices are way lower for each rows "buy" price. So if that is how they sell and buy, you can just buy the whole lot and sell in the same location :-) So why not instasell it in the same system? It probably takes you like a third of the time, or no time at all to just sell in the same system/tradehub? It says they buy for 98k though they sold it to you for 76k.... ????????? Sure you'll get profit by taking the highest buy, but when on destination, buy them all out and sell em ... :-)
That is an option for sure.
@@delindsay They seem it needs fixing though. You have a station that's willing to sell for less than it buys for but then for some reason there is a WTB and WTS...
I did the mining thing which worked fine for starting out with loads of cash. Trading doesn't seem to be as lucrative.
Next i'm going to watch your ship upgrade video to see how that stuff works, it's all a bit obscure tbh. Still great game.
@@Anomynous Patch 4.0 is coming soon and I cannot wait. It's going to add so much to SB2!
@@delindsay Oh wow nice :-) Replay time then 🙂
So after the mining spree getting about 130m I bought the biggest trade ship: spiral of XP while making money. I'm dumping all in Intelligence (at 70+ now) and it goes faster and faster. Also intelligence affects "trade".... Though it doesn't specifically say what "trade" does in itself, it does seem my trade ship got very fast and agile. So it's really a spiral of XP and money level up int to up xp and trade to get more xp and trade and money.
@@Anomynous Although it doesn't always tell us the fine details, I'm happy SB2 is so in depth.
I see you decided to do this at level 38 and so you can't upgrade the ship level because it's already at your level. I decided in my second gameplay to get the Xanthean and Galactic Carrier ASAP which was level 16 for the Galactic Carrier at 59 million and level 18 for the Xanthean at zround 80 million. Even though I purchased them early I didn't put the Galactic Carrier into service until level 27 so I was able to upgrade level to 27 at the faction hangar. Still no dice on the Tier level.
I have so far had several encounters with pirates. The first I fought them and died a nasty death. The next two I said "take it" and they steal a crate of goods. Ever since then I just select "attack" cause nobody's taking my sh*t. I keep my squad traveling with me for every trade run and I just select attack, launch my four drones and tell my squad to attack my target then I select one. The pirates die quickly. My squad is two levels higher than mine (because of a fluke) and I have the higher level perk for my drones.
I say hands down running trade missions is the best way of increasing the Adventurer level. After a few days my Adventurer level is higher than my Pilot and Soldier levels.
Bt the way: If your squad is improving slowly, you can replace them with crew from your freelancers that are higher levels and put the squad members in training or freelance. Also personally I find it so much easier to pilot the carrier in first person. Most of the time when I arrive at a trade depot, I am assigned a slot on the far side of the station so my technique is to fly to one side and as I pass the slot I turn toward it, but also use the opposite direction side thrusters to spin the ass end around on approach. Easy peezee.
It's the best way to increase Adventurer since the update (well after this video was created). At the time of recording, Adventurer was still a PITA to level but I'm glad DBK changed it so that Trading had more usefulness.
@@delindsaygood to know. Before I started trading, I had a bear of a time leveling up Adventurer even with the add 10% PERK. I didn't even know how much it was rising until after about five hours of it I saw Adventurer at 12 points so four levels up.
@@RollinShultz Yeah, it's much easier now. Still not as fast as Pilot though but I'll take what I can get.
First thares a bug if you sell more then 20units as same time game will only give you YT for 20units so make sure you sell 20units at a time. Olso have few video on my chanel doing trade comentary and no comentary
Yeah, I found that out after recording this, but since I bought/sold in full 20 units I did actually make money off the trade I completed in video. I got lucky I guess.
docking clearance expired :) Anyway, doesnt seem worth it as implemented right now.
The Mod on the Steam Forums acknowledged that it's a known bug that you actually lose money when Trading right now. It's on the Devtracker and considered top priority to fix.
@@delindsay well...its fairly realistic for most people who do trades on the stock market lol.
When I tried trading, I was losing money. Not sure why, I was buying low and selling high and STILL losing on every trade. Is this bugged???
It could indeed be bugged. Apparently even after the update some Players are still seeing the placeholder "corkscrew" rainbow Trade Hubs.
Try only selling 20 at a time, I noticed a bug where if you tried to sell more than a single stack at once, it would sell off maybe one and then kinda just eat all of the rest.
@@johnnyboy90528 Yeah, I read this on the Steam Forums. It's possible that I didn't ACTUALLY gain money in the video, although it appeared I did.
@@johnnyboy90528 Thanks so much, I will try this!! I also noticed that I had to buy trade items 20 at a time. But I was selling them 60 at a time. I did the math outside the game, and sent a bug report to the Dev. Fingers crossed, cause I really love the Trading part of this game!!
@@delindsay the trade hubs look same as in your video. Its just that I lose money on each trade. Its like it puts the net profit amount of TF in my account, but it doesnt' give me back the initial expenditure I made to buy the goods. But hey, we're still in alpha and I can always raid Villages for cash :)
can you call your fighter squad to cover you ?
Yes but, both the Drones you deploy and the 4 Squad Ships that fly with you aren't working correctly right now and both do negligible damage. In fact, your Squad actually shoots at YOU some of the time.
The Dev is aware of this and the Squad members shooting you is on the DevTracker so hopefully will be fixed soon.
M3 - cubic meters?
I believe so yes.
I bought it, but I can call it. It says it is at trade hub ( where I bought ), I goes there nothing there T_T did I get scam from Nigerian prince
So, you bought a Cargo Ship and are unable to call it so you can get into it and fly it? I guess report it in game, could be a bug.
@@delindsay I worked it out, it was in different star system ...
@@HappyHusbandnWife Glad you found it.
As buggy and misinformative this game really is, I cant put it down LOL.
I really wish this developer the best. Would love to see some one just dump a team and some cash for him to make this become more.
I too love SB2. I believe I read somewhere that he DID have all the money he needed to hire more people after the game came out in EA, but chose not to. I also hope him the best and want to see SB2 realize it's full potential.
Press : "N" for landing gear!!!!!
That is correct, N is for landing gear.
cant hear a damn thing this guy is saying. Increase your mic!!
Will do.
You talk like it’s not suppose to be slow, would be extremely op way to make money is it was not slow
With anything, making game money always comes down to $$/hour to most people. The longer it takes, the less likely Players are willing to do it because it then takes up their real time, which is less "fun".
You do know what a cargo hauler is for, speed and defence not important that`s what alpha squad is for.
15 - 20 minutes LOL. their are much better ways to make much more money in SB2
Indeed there are. This wasn't a video on "how to get rich quick" in SB2, but a showcase of the at time newly added Trading system, which has changed dramatically since that time.
I haven’t got to the trading yet but who cares if you can make more $$ doing something else if you want to be a trader it’s cool! How is it different now? Maybe do a updated video

@@mainfish88 DBK added a huge amount of XP gain to the Trading system a few months back, especially for Adventurer. Money wise, the last time I played it was still only a little bit profitable.
As for an updated video, I will try and get back to it. I know there's more storyline available now and I tried playing through some of it but was hard to get back in the feel of it after playing other games while waiting for content.
