GAS, BANKS, GROCERY STORES.
Prepare accordingly.
Oh my goodness, that reminds me of when my first husband died. I was 28, and had 3 little children. But my oldest boy had spent LOTS of quality time with his daddy. So when we wanted to leave the house to go to church for the first time, the house got hit by lightning and the power went out. 🙄 If it hadn't been for my son's knowledge from spending so much time with his dad, I would have stayed home! "Just pull that little red handle," he said. Wow!
@@sherihicks1427 that’s awesome
Great shot of the eagle!
At 73, I took the plunge and bought an electric pressure canned (Nesco). This spring, I canned pint jars of "ugly" chicken from Sutton Daze recipe and browned ground beef. Really easy for chili, spaghetti, sloppy joes, chicken salad, tacos
It's great isn't it? Ugly chicken is the easiest. And it is so tender. Good luck!
In 2021 after mom said prepare and get busy before she passed, I got busy and learned how to can. I did a ton of chicken and venison. Even onion, bell peppers, mushrooms. Some of my favorite bases. Love it
@@tkwheeler4577 I have 2 of them. I'm intimidated by the stove top pressure canners, but find the nesco easy to use.
I have never canned. My mother always did. I guess I’ve been afraid to, plus I know nothing about it! Getting a little courage here tho. Thinking about it. What is ugly chicken? I’m so curious! I’m going to look up that machine. 👍🇺🇸
@cynthiasanchez6346 Same boat here. My mom did, I was scared. But the electric one was for me. I love it. Ugly chicken is just chicken breast canned. When it's done, it does look kinda ugly in the canning jars...but delicious! 😄 It is so easy, it was the very first thing I canned. Good luck to you!
These are becoming very challenging times.
I turned the HVAC down two years ago. Stove/Oven, washer and dryer do not work. I do all my cooking in a toaster oven and microwave or cook over a fire. Retired, my home and cars are paid off and I have never had a credit card. I have a team of close net friends that will be here on the farm when SHTF. I have been Prepping since the late 70's. Keep Prepping my friends.
It could be pretty bad. It’s time to protect your family and storage. Have a great weekend AG! Pray, prep and protect.
I need to periodically reorganize our preps. We don't want guests to see all our extras. Right now back filling the holes.
Thanks AG.
Remember y'all to Pray, Plan, Prep
Pack away in cardboard boxes and mark as books or holiday decorations
Get a tool called a "come-along" to make pulling anything heavy including garage doors in a power outages.
I once had to open our garage door during a power outage and I wasn’t prepared for the jolt of the heavy door. I was lucky not to injure myself. It was dark, cold and stormy and I was by myself. Im not sure how a person can prepare for this. It’s harder than it looks.
My Dad had a come along. Handy tool.
Unrest is an understatement..... Thanks Granny 😊
STAY FROSTY MY FRIEND!! GOD HAVE MERCY ON US ALL
👍🥰🇺🇸
I found you 3 yrs ago. God hit me with- Get ready one morning . We havent stopped ever since. Thank God my husband was onboard immediately. Reviewing our Go bags right now. Seeing some holes. Stay safe and God Bless
Most of my life for years as a prepper was as you described a Death March into Chaos. I no longer feel that way. Thank God the doom and gloom is no longer front and center.
The eagle looks so regal. I am looking at counter top single burner stove.
I got mine from Big W in Australia.
Great Eagle 🦅 - Wow 😯😦 - Thank you for the Warning !!!
I fully expect civil unrest following the election and perhaps for a while, no matter who wins. People have become so heated and intolerant that it’s really scary. We all need to be prepared for what life throws at us and it would be wonderful if we can find a way to heal our country, even if it means agreeing to disagree.❤🇺🇸
I agree that no matter which candidate is selected, there will be unrest. Taking the entire week off, staying at home and alert.
Food, property taxes, insurance, electricity have all gone up.
In Trinidad and Tobago as well
Hospitals and schools in very poor condition
ALOT!
Absolutely! 💯🇺🇸
When we moved 11 years ago, we got a garage door with battery backup as well as the manual rope.
Teddy is a great alarm bell.
We just had a fire event near our home and lost power for about 8-10 hours. Thankfully we have both a gas generator and a small Jackery 500-watt solar generator. It reminded me to always keep my car at least half full as we don't want to keep a bunch of gas cans around and the solar charged up. Also, last year we had a brief power outage, and I did not have a spare key in my wallet, but I sure do now. Oh, when the toilet paper issue started, we bought an inexpensive bidet from Tushy (and clean wash rags) now we love it so much we are planning on changing our toilets out over time. As you say, " You just never know". Great Video!!!
Beautiful eagle!
Raisin bran is no longer worth buying AG. Take care.
Thank you for all the great ideas. You help others so so much.
This bald eagle is beautiful
Great video...also, I really like the opening with the eagle:)
HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND.
Wow you’re so right I’m a grandfather of 7 3 girls 4 boys the younger boys are my cabin buddies there so good and help so much the cabin is off grid and we have solar and water tanks and 500 gallons of propane too it’s on top of a mountain and there’s a big antenna I took a big Roku smart tv up there we get over 60 channels they get bored quick lol but I make sure I feed them pretty much anything they want and a lot of it lol I do love them so !!
Take those girls too, think of all the young men out there that can't tie their shoes. Teach them the same as the boys.
Love your comment! What a good Grandpa and I admire what you’ve achieved. 🇺🇸
@@cynthiasanchez6346 thanks so much I’m trying lol
I'd get rid of the tv and let them learn what the great outdoors is all about. Just me.
Do you need internet to work the TV stations? 0
Thankyou alaska granny ❤ So good advice I have a butane stove but I will stock up on more cartridges
Thank you for your wonderful videos. They are so thoughtfully done.
Power outage is one main concern and I have a Coleman stove with a couple bottles of propane. I have been considering a small solar type generator that can be recharged by sun or by a car that is running. My mother needs a CPAP machine at night and then there's recharging phones, etc. Thank you ! Youre that sane practical voice in the choas. ❤❤
Hi Lisa.
You already have one...your car!!
Pick up an in-car inverter (available from A***zone, they are not expensive!!).
It fits into the in car charger point, aka cigarette lighter, and to this you can plug in a strip (or gang) adapter and use this to charge up a battery, laptop, mobile phone etc.
Ideally, the car should be running, but you can also do this direct from the battery (be careful how long you do that for, you don't want to be flattening the battery!!).
Hope this helps a little.
@@dandycat2204 Interesting, but can it fit in my mom's room and run her CPAP machine? I was thinking something that could run a small appliance overnight inside if the power was off indefinitely. A small generator ( like Jackery) usually has a way to charge it like you mentioned. I appreciate your information. It was one thing I haven't seen addressed much in prepping and a worry if the power is out. My parents are in their 80's so I need to prep for them also. Thank you sincerely as we are all in this together.
@@lisamichele9941
Hi Lisa.
I don't know what power requirements a CPAP machine has, but again, wouldn't think it would be that much, 50 watts would be my guess, maybe 100.
If you look on the label for the product specifications it will tell you, 50 watts (?), 240 volts, 50 Hz etc.
So yes that can be run on a car battery with an appropriate inverter.
If it's 50 watts for the appliance, then a 100 watt inverter is absolutely fine, and it could be powered for about 16 hours without a recharge.
Of course you can buy lithium/iron batteries, but they can be a bit more tricky to charge, though the in-car inverter will do the job nicely (I wouldn't buy above 800watt because the alternator generates about 1kilowatt, but you need to leave some charge for the battery in the car, otherwise that will run flat... and then your car won't start).
A word of warning... don't be fooled by Jackery or similar firms.
Their so-called Solar Generators are nothing but a VERY expensive battery and inverter system.
THEY DON'T GENERATE POWER.
You can buy a small solar panel of course, they're not expensive neither these days, and just hook them up to a battery with crocodile clips and that will work just fine as it is (disconnect the panel from the battery when you need to use it).
@@lisamichele9941just a thought and maybe not a very helpful one, but my husband uses a CPAP and when we go out and stay on our boat for a week or so he runs it off a boat battery through the night and then recharges during the day. Maybe you could adapt something?
@@susans9491 Thanks I've never thought about a boat battery. Probably much more reasonable, cost wise. I will look into that. Thank you. 🙏
So true on less in can, I use all liquid in a can of salmon but now i have to pour out some of the liquid. I'M not sure if its less fish or more liquid or both. I see the ounces but noticed more skin. Grrr! Yes, The things do not taste the same. I absolutely love shoes inserts. I think shoes are less in the sole comfort also. Funny, thinking my fat pads on my feet are looking smaller. Lol. Please be careful with delivery people bc heard some evil people are using it as a front door invasion with more behind them to push open your door. We have been so trusting for years & now we have to think about the new wolves in our area. 😮 Have a great weekend.
Our apartment complex changed from locks with keys to an electronic type lock and I was very upset about it. If the battery inside it dies we have to wait for maintenance to come change it out.
That’s terrible! I’m sorry you’re going to have to deal with that. 🇺🇸
Move.
Love your Duck shoes,l had a couple of pair ,and enjoyed them so much. Always like your videos you don't scare us to death but encourage us to prepare, you have the best attitude, thanks soooo much.
You always get me thinking! Your content was full of inspiring ideas. Have to say I check the underside of can lids now😮
Also the American goulash is a recipe I plan on trying. Keep the videos coming you keep me focused on the positive. ❤
❤. Being ready for a long term power outage is one of my concerns. Water is a big issue . I store bleach bottles filled with water under the porch for flushing. If the temps get to freezing where you are leave two inches in the bottle empty so the water can expand as it freezes and not burst the jug. I keep two cases (40ct)and four gallons of bottled drinking water at all times.
Sometimes just highly seasoning (not necessarily hot spicy) canned food makes them delicious!
This was a great episode ag. Thank you. Clip of the eagle….fantastic! Thanks for everything you shared. I appreciate you and your support
Thanks AG
I need those fuzzy inserts for my moccasin slippers!
Very good video! Love the opening with the eagle. Gorgeous. Yes on stock up on TP! Oh AG you’d cringe at my use of it, but that’s just me. So I’m always trying to build and keep that up well! Ha! Lots of comments on canning and I’m one that has never canned but would be interested. It seems scary and overwhelming but I’m not adverse to learning. Maybe it’s too late for me but would enjoy a lesson on it. We’re planning on widening our search for canned and jarred goods and find the best deals we can and start stocking up more on what we use all the time. My focus is there now and using and rotating. Thanks for all you do. 🥰🇺🇸
The eagle was beautiful! ❤
Unfortunately, many gas stoves these days have electric ignition switches and won't work without electricity. Some gas stoves have an interlock system that prevents gas from entering without electricity. 😟
Beautiful shot of the eagle!
I'm fortunate. With my electronic ignition, I can use a match/lighter to start it Although, I'm 69 and every time we had an outage, I was out of luck with cooking. Then, just last year a guy said to me "You know you can just light it with a lighter..." I just stared at him. I felt like an idiot. Yep. It works fine.(all these years without it! 😂)
@judywein3282 👍👍👍😁 But with the interlock system, a lighter won't work.
@@valerier4308
But if you check the back, the label (giving the product specifications) will tell you the power requirements.
I can't see it being very high, 50 watts maybe, so you can supply that with a car battery and inverter.
Our JennAir (whirlpool) gas stove igniter quit working and we use a long lighter. If either of us ever remembers we’re going to order a new igniter!
@@dandycat2204 Thanks, but I don't know how to do that. Anyway, the home I'm in now is totally electric.
Your own personal watch bird! Amazing! Oops he just abandoned his post! 😂
Thank you so much for all the valuable links, Miss Alaska Granny. Great video.
Thank you for sharing. 😊
Love your videos! Bless you

Wow…amazing info regarding the garage door. Learned something new! Thank you!
I bought some of those same shoes at a thrift store for my outside shoes. i use them to go into my chicken coop and I also use them in the garden first thing in the morning especially when the ground is still wet. They are really nice. I leave them outside my door, so I just slip them on and off as soon as I walk out and I am not tracking my house up. See you next time.
I recently ran out of bread flour. I was shocked to see the limited choice at my local Walmart. I was tempted to buy all they had but felt guilty and picked up five 5lb sacks. I live on the Gulf coast. Has anyone noticed a limited supply where they live?
Shortages since 2020
Yes. On many things now.
I've said it before...but I am just amazed at the supply shortages still affecting the States.
We have no such problem in the UK, though we have been clobbered by inflation like you.
@dandycat2204 it is unreal. I'm in Texas and between shortages and inflation it is just hard right now.
You can use regular flour. For each cup of regular flour, remove one teaspoon and replace it with one teaspoon of vital wheat gluten. I google alot of things to get answers
I recently had to throw away 3 cans of chicken. I opened can after can to find black blotches in each one.
The can itself looked fine, it had no dent and no bloating, it didn’t spurt or smell bad but each can had a black blotch near the top of the seam.
All three of these cans we bought at the same time very recently and their best by date was a 2027.
🤢
WOW, haven't opened canned chicken lately, I will have to check. Tx
@@Jazbo777 That is scary 😨 Do you mind if I ask what brand?
Not sure where you bought it but I’ve taken a few things back to our Walmart in southern Ohio. No problem, no hassle!
return for refund
I love the eagle at the beginning!
There was also a packaging shortage due to the pandemic.
I stockpiled Leopard/Cheetah print clothing from thrift stores and garage sales to compliment my Aunt's hand me downs...now they're back in style...
I may have said this already about using tetra packs as makeshift shoe insoles for the cold/heat, but I will say it again. Empty tetra packs can be cut to fit your shoes like the fuzzy insoles you showed. Coupled with the fuzzy insoles or even a thinner regular insole it can help keep the cold out. If your shoes are too tight, though, you won't be able to fit extra socks in. I would use the tetra pack idea in shoes that are the bridge into cooler weather just as a precaution because you can't wear all your winter gear at once if it's not that cold out just so you have it with you. Put the shiny side in to keep your heat in. Put the shiny side out to keep the heat out. I have also used some thinsulate insoles in regular fashion boots and it worked really well.
Speaking of repurposing food items for prepping/survival, I was reminded by another prepping channel with an alarmist headline (who got 70,000 views in 9 hours with it) that I was neglecting thinking about EMP phenomena. I did some research (because I didn't want to watch such a scary video before bedtime (and still haven't watched it) on EMP effects on electronics and Faraday bags. Before bed, I plan to wrap my little tiny hand crank/solar radio in aluminum foil and also my tablet. A few layers are recommended. That way if they are exposed to an EMP, they might not get fried and be useable if any broadcasts are being done by the government. Otherwise, if they fry you won't be able to use them even if the power comes back on to charge them.
Thanks, AG.
Great video informative but I’ll not all doom and gloom. Thank you very much.
Received my opus solar generator todayWhat are the last things that I needed in my prep
I think the wrapper meant that 1 Popsicle was equal to 3 servings, not that 1 serving was 3 popsicles.

woooooooooosh only 4 squares AG come on LOL BTW good tip on the garage door locked because of the power outage. Never heard anyone mention this.

Good afternoon, thanks for sharing, YAH bless !
You crack me up! Good video and cool eagle. Funny toilet paper story too
We nearly had a tragedy during the Santa Rosa fire. The family Navigator was too large to fit in the garage. Had it been parked in the garage my god mother never would have been able to manually lift the door and would have died in the fire.

Greetings Alaska Granny, thank you for the great video! Love your nature scenes and that magnificent eagle! Just wondering, will you do a canning video one day? I noticed comments from your audience about Nesco canners. I'm sorry to say I know nothing about canning. 😞
That’s also what I posted on a comment. That Nesco sounds interesting. I’ve never canned but my Mom always did. Unfortunately she passed away when I was a teenager, so I never learned that particular skill. You’re not alone! 🥰🇺🇸
@@cynthiasanchez6346 aww thanks for the reply. I guess we can always learn new things. 👍🇺🇸🙏
I've made both water bath pickles and tomato sauces canning them for shelf stable foods. You can watch a RUclips video, or just read the instructions that come with a canner. The important thing with that is that you stick to acid foods and stay squeaky clean.
You can also make refrigerator pickles like I do when I am lazy and don't have enough for a big batch of something. They keep for months in the fridge. If you use straight sided mason jars without shoulders, they will also freeze well. I've made Red Beet Eggs which have lasted about a month and an half after pickling them and eating through them gradually keeping them in the fridge. No pressure...canning...needed!
@@Katesharpandvoice Wow! You have some great skills! I admire all you who do this. I’m considering, but without my own garden I’m a bit daunted by the prices today. Still, I’ve decided to look into this. I do know there’s probably people in my church who can regularly. I’m almost 71 now so thought my time to learn was past. Maybe not tho! I’m not in good health, but I’ve found this topic on AG’s channel interesting. My complete lack of knowledge and experience in this particular area makes me shy to comment on it before. I just stayed out of the discussions. I’m more comfortable here on AG’s channel. 🥰🇺🇸
@@KatesharpandvoiceThanks for the reply and good ideas!
Eating rice with lentils, I thought I should get used to eatting it. Melted cheese on top but what else could I add to make it less bland?
Add spices, potatoes, and onions.
Try adding a can of diced tomatoes with ( or without) green chilies. Or, a can of tomatoes with Italian seasoning. Best wishes.❤
Salsa
Saute an onion and garlic in olive oil along with some Herbs de Provence or Italian herb mix, pour it on top of the lentils. Put butter on the rice and make it with bullion, perhaps adding a chopped carrot and celery if you have it. Those freeze well. Salt and Pepper.
@@Katesharpandvoice I'll give these ideas a try. Thanks
Can you share the link for the fuzzy insoles from Amazon. I want to make sure I order the right ones. TIA
What places inside are safe to store butane canisters?
❤❤❤❤❤❤
You look ridiculous grinning ear to ear with such a headline 🤦♀️
Love your videos. Hope all is well! Laughed at your toilet paper story. 🧻 Reminded me of the Seinfeld episode when Elaine asked to borrow a square and her stall-neighbor didn't have a square to spare. 🤣
If I have to leave early for work, I park in the driveway. I don't want to deal with having to open the garage door manually, in the dark, at 3am. My power actually hasn't gone out in a couple of years except for planned maintenance, which is impressive.
The problem is we're always fighting the last war, so to speak. Last time, it was toilet paper. Who knows what basic will be out of stock during the next crisis. Best to keep track of what you like to have in all categories and stock an extra few months.
Thanks
Great video informative but I’ll not all doom and gloom. Thank you very much.
