- "I never wanted this for you. I work my whole life--I don't apologize--to take care of my family, and I refused to be a fool, dancing on the string held by all those bigshots. I don't apologize--that's my life--but I thought that, that when it was your time, that you would be the one to hold the string. Senator Corleone; Governor Corleone. [Michael: Another pezzonovante] Well, this wasn't enough time, Michael. It wasn't enough time. [Michael: We'll get there, pop. We'll get there.]"

The beloved Don Tomassino, if you remember, is in a wheelchair for life because he was there the day his friend and new Genco Olive Oil Import Co. business partner, Don Vito Corleone, took his revenge on the loathsome Don Ciccio in Sicily in the early 1920's.Tomassino was the one hit by one of Ciccio's bodyguards with a lupara shotgun, permanently paralyzing him...
I had no idea that was the same person thanks for the info
Ohhh that's him!
That's true, but he is not exactly paralyzed. There's a scene in GF 1 when he takes a few steps by his own with Michael.
@@lucasdamotta2931 Age does this to him. He also walks not in comfortable way.
He wasn’t paralyzed from the gun shot wound remember wen Michael corleon went to itaily after the turk and dirty cop shooting don Tomassino had a bad limp and cane but no wheel chair go rewatch
I really like Don Tommasino, he's very wise, old fashioned and understand the values of honor and respect
That’s why despite being murdered soon after in this film, those traits are the reason he made it to old age in a field where most don’t make it to 50-60.
"Politics and crime, they're the same thing."
I believe it is the same too.
Jthrillz 728 so true one is legal one is not
That´s true.
Hmmmm……..the presidents are well guarded by people carrying guns. It makes sense.

"Politics and crime, there the same thing..." So true, regardless of the times we live in.
Secret societies rule both simultaneously.
Most people either don't have any concept of this, or they're totally unlearned and think it's "conspiracy theory". They completely fail to understand how the real world works and has always worked.
King Solomon says in Bible: "There is nothing new under the sun."
Oh totally
that michael and vincenzo tap on each other is a symbolic gesture of respect between father and son (even if theyre not).
never forget this scene.
Garcia stole the show in this movie, he did everything 110% correctly. It's a shame he wasn't made the actual star of Part III.
It's good to see Calo again
Despite what people say about this movie, iloved it.
It was received better when it came out
One of the few scenes from this movie where the understated yet highly meaningful scene matches the tone with the first two godfathers.
"Give this guy a golf club, he'll probably try to fuck it" - Anyone else recognize the old man in the wheelchair? :)
You're right!
Georggggge....Washingtttoon....bridggge
Yep, his name was Vittorio Duse.

and yes,, Mike true love is Apollonia not Kay, with Apollonia he found love, with Kay only lust. Apollonia would be a great mafioso wife, she's pure italian, she knows how to become mafia wife
Lol it’s the other way around 😂
Raja Pamungkas: I agree. You can only truly love one of your own kind, it’s just something about your own kind that makes you fell that special unique type of love. That love which is genuine and makes you want to protect your wife and treat her like a queen.
Western wives aren’t conservative and don’t know much (or even really care) about your culture and heritage.
I think it was the opposite. Appollonia was lust but we got to see their courtship and her unfortunate demise so she's the more sympathic to the audience. But it's strange that people think the young, inexperienced, whiny Appollonia would have made a better wife. Away from her homeland and family I think she would have suffered.
Apollonian would have been a good Sicilian Mafiosi Wive solely on the fact she wouldn’t question Michael Corleone as much as Kay did, she would gladly let Mike Take the lead!
Pure Italian ? She's Italian-Greek dude
Now THIS is a scene from Part 3 that is Godfather-worthy. This film didn't have enough of them, however.
walterlv01 it had a few
@@jerry85g7 michael’s confession to Cardinal Lamberto is definitely up there.
But this scene alone probably encompasses the closest to the first 2.
This scene is a summary of the 'Godfather' theme. Reasoned, fearless, and collaborative honesty is the heart of cultural progress and continuity. All such multi-generational stories pale over time (eg; Manifest Destiny).
Yes because it is a flashback. Hahahaha
This scene, vincent putting the hit on Joey Zaza, and Michael naming vincent Don were my favorite, I agree this movie wasn't that great as part 1 and 2 but it was still enjoyably good
Vincent goes from street thug to thinking he's an important part of the family
That’s because he was a very important part of the family. And that’s Sonny’s son.
At least Vincent is not as hot-headed as his dad Sonny.
Vincent is willing to be guided by Michael and can decide what's best for family even though it's outside Michael's approval (ex. killing Joey Zasa whom Vincent viewed as big threat to Corleones).
People here have selective memories about this movie because Michael declares his undying love for Kay after this sequence and tells her she’s the one he “loved and valued most in the world” and proceeds to tell her he still loves her. But because it doesn’t suit the fantasies of the fans, they only remember the scene where an Italian song reminds him of Apollonia unlike the time he tells Kay that he “dreams of her every night here in Sicily”. The only way for them to cope is by cherry-picking scenes so they can wrongly claim Apollonia was his one true love even though Michael, Al Pacino and Coppola have said over and over that it is Kay who was the love of Michael’s life and not Apollonia.
My opinion he just says that because appollonia is dead, plain and simple, if she never would've died he would've moved on with her because not only because she was beautiful and way more beautiful than kay but because she was Sicilian, she was perfect for Michael and I'm sure his mother, father, and his brothers would've loved her, but because she died he had no choice to go back to Kay because of course he still loved her and he needed someone to go to, I get Kay and Michael were in love but I always say him and appollonia were a match made in heaven
Agree apollonia is the first wife of michael corleone and she will not interrupt family bussines like kay@@AdamWest1290
Wonderful Godfather❤❤

00:28 Vincent talks about bloodbath in Atlantic City which mean massacre and death, while holding an ORANGE....
I don't understand why so many people hate Godfather 3? To me this movie is conclusion how mike become larger than his father and pay all his sin. Is a another masterpiece
Because it was overblown and pretentious; creating dialogue, characters and scenes only for the audience to lap up, instead of making a compelling story. The helicopter hit alone was trash.

kasegi Yabu Vito's friend (he was not a bodyguard) was Don Tomassino, who limped ever since the day they killed Don Ciccio.

Did you know Mario Puzo wanted to do a fourth movie where Vincent Corleone is the Don and he gets involved with drugs from Colombia? Him getting involved with drugs eventually leads to the downfall and corruption of the Corleone family. He is eventually assassinated by a Colombian drug lord, ending the family for good.
DrDelicious70 Sounds good to me.
If this third movie was even half successful as the first two, then FC would have thought of making the fourth.
Yes I know.
That sounds very sad
@ghtschunkSounds like the movie YOU wanted to make ... =.O
After the scene in the Vatican, where Don Lucchesi confronts Michael, why does Michael have to ask who reaches between these two worlds? The Michael of old would have already known.
Shitty writing my friend
1:10 One of the best lines in cinematic history 'Our Ships must all sail in the same direction'. Sounds so gritty , when Don Michael sardonically mimics Don Lucchesi after Don Tommasino makes this earth shattering revelation to him. But why does he praise Don Altobello when in reality Altobello turns out to be the 'hidden enemy'?
Technically speaking, Tommassino's words don't conflict with the idea of Altobello being a traitor. It is "reasonable" from his point of view to try and get rid of Michael, and being deceptive in his betrayal requires him to be talented and present himself as a negotiator between Sicilian and American interests.
vincent has an orange didn't die...
Genaro Rafael Sotomayor he was supposed to be killed in part 4 and have corleone's be destroyed with him or weakened like history when in the 90s half of Italian mafia got destroyed and half weakened because CIA FBI became more powerful more rats got into families bosses got more greadier and drug business left so many traces but when Mario Puzo died plans for part 4 died with it al Pacino was supposed to have a cameo in it
Genaro Rafael Sotomayor Michael also had an orange in part 2.
Genaro Rafael Sotomayor tommasino died
Crime and politics are the same 👊
Michael was seriously surprised to learn that Lucchesi was behind it all?
I don't think he was genuinely surprised. He did need confirmation of his suspicions though.
@@nickmkhize3446 THIS.
I don’t get why most didn’t like this. All Coppola wanted to do was continue the rest of the story with Michael’s life.
It was not because of that, every fans wanted the part 3 but coppola made mistakes by casted Sophia and also duvall was not in the part 3, so yeah most people didnt like the part 3
What is missing in this film is Robert Duvall. His presence would have made up for all the imperfections of this film lol
All Coppola wanted to do was Part 1 and no sequels. But, Paramount Pictures offered him a fortune to do more Godfather movies, so he did.
There’s plenty of flaws in the movie but I don’t fault Coppola for any of it. He wanted atleast six months to write a proper script but the studio only gave him six weeks and rushed through with the movie.
Thank you all for telling me these
Even the old mafia guys have feelings ....sometimes
It’s Vincent who says this line. It’s usually credited to Michael for some reason
Vincenzo was very smart here. "Crooks have no honour." Michael, you should leave them after helicopter attack ! You were next, stupid ! As their new boss against their wishes. I'd leave them. What's there for you ? Nothing !
1:43 - 2:04 I think this is one of the most pivotal moments in the movie, I dare say even the Corleone saga. Why? Michael is seeking a powerful advocate within the Vatican to help overcome resistance from the board members of Imobiliare. And technically, he was right and smart to do this to further his legitimate interest. What Michael didn't count on was opening his heart to God in deep sorrow and regret for a life of great sins.
I think Don Tomasina knew this and was counting on it. Just the way he speaks to Michael with assuredness. Yes, Don Tomasina supported the business venture to help a beloved family friend acting in good faith against bad actors. But I think the Don (whom Michael lamented was loved in his society rather than feared) had in mind to help guide Michael to redemption for his own soul.
Michael already showed he was seeking a path of redemption and honor for himself and for the name of his family in his divestments from illicit enterprises, re-investing in legitimate enterprise, generous giving to charity, and his slow exodus from the underworld. In meeting Cardinal Lamberto, though, Michael's worldly concerns and resistance gave way. One of the most powerful and feared men in the world faced his sins for the first time in his life and was broken before God. All this hinged on the word of a friend, who turned out to be more friend to Michael than he knew.
As a caveat, personally I don't see that men, whether clergy or judge, have the power, much less the right, to forgive sins on behalf of the injured, never mind the slain. I'm referring to the rite of confession before a priest. It's in the power and the right of those injured (physically or otherwise) to forgive those who injured them. It does bring up issues of ability (what about the slain?) and trust (victims of repeated deception, cheating, theft, abuse) to forgive the wrongdoer and that's another discussion. There’s a great video by a UCLA psychiatrist that talks about this. ruclips.net/video/6xsVM_gd0Tc/видео.html&ab_channel=PragerU
In the context of this story, though, the main thrust was seeing a powerful and hardened man humble himself and begin a path of genuine repentance the rest of his days. Yes, the saga ends in great tragedy and loneliness. I see that as Coppola and Puzo’s own Ecclesiastes-like comment on the travail and ultimate vanity of seeking power. And it’s poetic. Regardless, they crafted this story to bring to the fore the need and reality of repentance and redemption.
A lot of words for a seconds of dialogue, but that’s what impresses me with Don’s advice to Michael. A great scene. Thanks for sharing this clip.
Don Ciccio, Don Barzini, Philip Tattaglia, Hyman Roth, Don Altobello, Don Luchessi each time in this trilogy mostly these 6 were responsible for what had befallen to young innocent Vito to War Hero Michael corleone to other innocent members of the Corleone family.

That is bullshit
Great photography
the only time in the trilogy when Michael uses the word mafia
“Politics and crime are the same things😆. Too true, but that’s because we choose criminals as leaders. The guilt lies with the people. They bring ruin on themselves.
Apollonia was Michaels real true love! He even died in the same home she was murdered
Not at all. Watch the scene in the Sicilian villa where Michael tells Kay that she was the one whom he loved and valued most in the world and still loves her to this day. This was after she betrayed him and got remarried. Al Pacino even confirmed that Kay is the real true love of Michael’s life and Puzo and Coppola even have it on record confirming it.
Apollonia was a thunderbolt. That is biological manifestation of arousal, sexual eraction.
He loved her sexually. Physical act of love was the only thing between them. We call that sex or fu**king but that would be too vulgare for movie or the book.
That is how it was described in a book, shown in a movie.
That is how it was commented by Coppola who at the moment when Michael spoke to Vitelli and mentioned marriage said:" This is NOT the case of a prince asking for a princess "
And that is how it was portrayed through music of the trilogy.....all songs that speak about love of the heart are about Kay and songs that speak about love of the body are about Apollonia.
Like Bruccia T.... it's not a love song or romantic song. It's a lust song that speaks about man who is lonely and horney. He can't sleep at night bc " His body is thirsty for love " and " she is thirsty for water "..
She is thirsty for water ...meaning she is young
Body thirsty for love.....meaning he is horny. So he took it. He drank, he loved her sexually.
By the way....Apollonia was a manipulative goldigger who he conned into marrying him at the hight of the danger and practically killed.
He married her for sex she married for money.....and than moved on as if she never existed
@@lunamilo2065 cool
From 4:07, that was one of the most emotional and Lovable scene in The Godfather triology remembering Apollonia and along with her theme.
Al Pacino's career best performance.
How is that loveable moment.
Michael came to Sicily, he is having meeting in front of her monument he didn't even remember her.
Song Bruccia T reminded him.
Michael didn't like the song but it reminded him of her..... song isn't a love song, romantic song or sad song.
Bruccia T is a lust song. It is a song that speaks about man who is lonely and horney. He can't sleep at night bc " His body is thirsty for love " and " she is thirsty for water ".
Body thirsty for love....means he is horny
She is thirsty for water....means she is young.
Michael takes off the glasses and puts his face in a hand which is a gesture he made throughout entire trilogy, especially gf3 every time he face something shamfull, something wrong.
That is how he reacted when Kay told him Anthony knows that he killed Fredo ( who he killed bc Kay), that is how he reacted in a kitchen after attempt of assassination, in an office when he saw Vincent and Zaza fight.
He has sad look on his face.....sadden remembering what he had done. He betrayed his wife with a child. He is looking at his child remembering how he married a child .
Mary storms out ....
Michael puts on the glasses and goes to face " ugly truth"...
Scene is one of many proofs that the only love that existed between them was physical act of love, sexual
Conversation he had with his children wasn't an emotional moment. He is worried about Mary and is trying to convince her to leave Vincent.
He took Kay ,later in a movie, to a same room where he had sex with Apollonia just to tell her he was thinking about her after he married Apollonia.
Michael:" I spent many nights in this room thinking of you "
Kay :" Than you got married "
Michael:" I still thought about you "...
Final proof it was just sex.
By the way Apollonia was a manipulative goldigger who married an elderly man who she found ugly for money.
He conned her into marrying him at the hight of the danger and practically killed her. And than moved on as if she never existed
