Dr. Dray, I'm wearing sunscreen every day for the first time in 34 years because of you! I've never found one that worked with my sensitive skin (I break out with everything, including anything with niacinimide so yay for these Eucerin ones) until I tried the La-Roche Posay Melt-in that you recommended in your favorites. Now, I feel like the skincare I do is actually worth it because I'm protected from the sun!

Same here!! Loving the LP melt in milk after many fails, I actually get excited to put it on. I like that it's easy to find at target vs ordering Japanese ones online but there's a few of those I want to try out too. I still watch these videos too because I'm now genuinely so interested in the art of sunscreen formulations lol

I am a Eucerin junkie-I love their products. I saw the "Age Defense" sunscreen at Target a couple of weeks ago and bought a couple of them. I love it so far--it's very moisturizing and goes on nicely. Might try the oil control one just to see what it's like.

In case anyone was wondering, the only difference between the Age Defense and Oil Control sunscreens is that the Age Defense one has hyaluronic acid and the Oil Control one doesn't. For the Oil Control sunscreen, L-Carnitine is a bit higher on the list. Otherwise, the ingredients lists are identical.

Yes it does! And it makes the formula lighter and very nice to wear...
Unfortunately it is impossible to wear if you have sensitive skin 😢...
I used to love those formulas but now (I'm on a anti acne traitement that makes my skin ultra sensitive...) I can not use it anymore...
And it is soooo hard to find a sunscreen that is ok with sensitive skin, but which is not heavy/white/ultra thick 😅!

I can't wait to try the Age Defense, fingers crossed it won't bother my eyes. It looks beautiful on you, and great price!
My fave is the EltaMD UV Elements. That's the one I use when I'm running errands or have to be around people other than my family, the finish is gorgeous on my mature skin.
Most days when I'm just around the house I look for cheaper alternatives. Currently using Isntree Watery Sun Gel (love, but a bit too glowy for public use) and DRMTLGY Physical Universal Tinted Moisturizer (love that it's super moisturizing, but makes me look really greasy). I've used DRMTLGY for a few years now but will not repurchase. Also, the price keeps creeping up. Hoping the Age Defense can replace this.
When walking the pup, I'm in the Australian Gold tinted. It holds up really well while sweating and although a bit drying for my skin, it's only on for an hour per day. I also throw on my neck garter from Coolibar and that has been the biggest gamechanger for my neck skin. Truly one of the best things I've purchased.
Thank you Dr. Dray, your work is amazing.

I saw the Eucerin products at Walmart the other day, and I successfully resisted the temptation to buy any. I keep buying sunscreen every time I go out for no reason and I won’t even use it because I already have a tried and true 😅
Currently using Colorescience Classic Shield. I love it so much. A little pricey, but I keep repurchasing. I have dry sensitive skin with redness/some pigmentation. I saw the Eucerin Advanced Hydration (hyaluronic acid & Humectants) sunscreen at Target and decided to give it a try because I couldn't find my regular one. Had to say I loved it! It left me a bit glowy but not so much to where it looked like it was just oily. I have oily skin so when I used it on my face I expected it to feel heavy, but I honestly didn't feel it at all. 10/10 for me . I also use it on my tattoos and it doesn't fade them or have a major white cast.

@@sakuramessage I purchased the Eucerin Advanced Hydration sunscreen as well, have to say I agree with the commenter. Glowy but not oily or heavy even after reapplication, granted I have sort of in between skin where some days I'm an oil factory and other days I'm dry as the desert. Generally didn't find it burning my eyes unless I was too heavy handed (ie. smeared about a tablespoon on at once in a rush because I was running late). I think it does have a bit of an odd smell though, almost reminds me of tires, goes away pretty fast as long as you're not sitting in a car(small enclosed space) or wearing a mask soon after application which I think goes for all sunscreens (at least for me personally). Also I got it at CVS and it was more like $19 than $13, thought it was on sale but it wasn't, needless to say better to get it at Target or Walmart if your in the States.

I’ve been using Eucerin Oil Control Dry Touch sunscreen (EU formula) for a year. So far it is the best sunscreen for oily skin in humid climate. The ingredients of the USA version are a bit different from the EU version. There is wax and Vitamin E in the USA version but not in the EU version. Maybe these two ingredients contribute to the shininess. While EU version has tapioca starch which may help reduce the shininess. EU version also has more UV filters.
By the way, after this video was published, I noticed the Eucerin sunscreen ran out of stock here in Malaysia’s online stores. Probably many people purchased it after watching the video :)

Will definitely try those both. Right now, I'm using the Epionce sunscreen, which is super water-resistant and leaves a waxy film-like coating on the skin, and a little shine, but NO GREASE. And the Versed gel-creme is the only moisturizer that absorbs into my skin but doesn't leave a coating of grease behind.

I LOVE the hero sunscreen! Found it a couple months ago at my local Target. I have super dry skin so during these winter months (which are quickly getting behind us at this point), I have to first put on a moisturizer before putting on the sunscreen. I think during the hot and humid summer months of GA, I will not need any moisturizer before the sunscreen. This isn't heavy at all, it spreads really nicely, and it basically disappears on my skin (no whitecast) within minutes of applying. I am very fair-skinned, so I'm not sure how people with darker shades of skin would do with this one. I have sensitive skin and have not had any irritation from any of the ingredients, but it's good to know that some of them may potentially cause irritation.

On contrary, my experience matches the one you described for the first sunscreen -- I find that the European Oil Control one is very moisturizing, lightweight and fast-absorbing. I bought the advanced hydration sunscreen on a whim after my target didn’t have the sunscreen I wanted and I LOVE IT. It’s actually very lightweight, and is not greasy to me. However, it is very shiny on the skin so if you don’t like that, I would suggest trying one of the others. Personally, I don’t mind it because I like my skin looking dewy. I haven’t really had any problems with it burning my eyes so far, but I tend to avoid my eyelids when applying sunscreen. Hi Dr. Dray, I've gone through a couple of laser toning sessions for hyperpigmentation. I saw remarkable brightening of my face immediately after which lasted for about a month. I am very diligent about sun protection, but I feel like the initial brightening has completely gone away. Could it be that laser toning is a short term fix instead of actually getting rid of the core issue of hyperpigmentation? Or has the novelty of seeing suddenly bright skin just worn off?

Love the videos, hate American sunscreens! Every time I saw a recommendation for a new sunscreen I was suckered into trying it. They were all fails! Too sticky, too dry, too heavy, too greasy, too drying, too dark, white cast, burns my eyes. Then I discovered Japanese sunscreens and they're all wonderful. I wish I had all the money I wasted trying to find an American sunscreen that didn't suck.

They're both SPF50 PA++++ and work great with makeup. I can slather both all over my face including my eyelids without any stinging or watering eyes. I use CeraVe PM moisturizer first because it doesn't have any SPF that would bother my eyes.

I am using the oil control one (eurpean Version) for years now and it is the best one. But there has to be big differences between the amercian and european Version: i don't have oily skin and the sunscreen feels quite moisturizing and it also leaves a healthy shine on my skin. I would even say that if you are quite or super oily this sunscreen would be too much.
The Problem is : in germany they Took the oily sunscreen from the Market and just bringing it Out in the sunny months- that is so dissapointing from them even as a skin brand. I have written mails to Complain and stocked up and just hope it is back soon.

Interesting update about blue light protection! One of the sunscreens I'm currently using is the Bergen Derm Sheer Joy Sunscreen SPF 50+. It's especially great for people who's skin tones typically get a bad white cast from mineral sunscreens. I do see it's out of stock, but I would keep an eye on it and jump on it once it comes back! Also, I don't think any body sunscreen will convince me to switch from the one from Target, Up & Up Sport Sunscreen lotion broad spectrum SPF 50. It's $5 for 10.4 fl oz, can't beat that

Dr. Dray, have you heard about EVY sunscreen? It is from Sweden and they claim they have a patent that the sunscreen penatrates deeper, therefore is effective for at least 6 hours.
I bought it for my kiddos, as they cannot reapply sunscreen by themselves at school, so that can be a big relief for me, knowing they are protected from 8am -2pm. They don't sell in the States. I bought it from an online UK vendor, and the shipment to CA was not expensive. Would really appreciate your thoughts on this product, as reapplying sunscreen is a big issue to so many.
    Thank you!!

EVY is my favorite sunscreen. I have super sensitive, temperamental skin. I have never broken out from it which is a miracle. I don't even use a moisturizer underneath and I have dry skin. The Kids 50 version works best for me (though I am 63). It has the least amount of ingredients. Cuz it's pricey, I only use it on my face, neck, upper chest, hands, feet. It has kept me white as a ghost (the regular 50 I can use on my body, not my face. For body: I use Altruist 50 (though it irritates my face) or Blue Lizard 50 for sensitive skin (also irritates my face) or something local.
I was suspect because EVY is a foam but it is a sheer delight to use. I will say, it might take some time to learn the proper amount. Your face will tell you if you've used too much. It will feel icky. I think EVY's Instagram account shows the right amount - golf ball size. I reapply, despite claims, wear big glasses and hat. I order from Ifsogo (an EVY-approved retailer to the states. I live in NYC) but you have to buy six bottles at a time...water-resistant, no scent. You will need an oil cleanser to remove. I use Apothaka Comforting EO Free Oil Cleanser (which I was also skeptical of but never has it broken me out) and follow it up with Vanicream Gentle Face Cleanser (only use a little or it will dry you out. But after the oil, it never feels drying). And then retinol and Vanicream Moisturizing Cream (if you find that too heavy, on wet skin, it's not).

I just started using Dr Sam’s Flawless Daily Sunscreen and her Flawless Gossamer Tint in shade 1. I ordered from the U.S. and shipping did take about 2 weeks. Love both products and the prices are reasonable. They both have a luminous, not shiny finish and apply very smoothly. Love that the bottles tell you exactly how many pumps you need for the stated SPF 50. I had no eye stinging or burning from the chemical version sunscreen, which is a first for me. Will try the Eucerin chemical SPF you reviewed to see if that causes eye issues.
