- Thanks to my day job at Kelley Blue Book, I drive and review lots of cars. This 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLB is one of them. The GLB class is a small SUV that is larger than the Mercedes GLA but smaller than the GLC. In this review, me, my wife, and our daughter test the 2020 GLB SUV to find its positives and negatives from a family perspective.

The 2024 cars are much better with regard to that jerky start issue - the mild hybrid system they have introduced makes it much smoother.

What you bring - which I think is your point - is the family factor which no other reviewer has done. Really emphasize that point each and every time (luggage, car seat clip in, room for road trips, etc) then success.

Thank you for this review! I'm considering this suv and i will mostly use as my commuter to pick up my kid from school and go to the office once a week. My kiddo has the same car seat as your daughter and i wanted to make sure there was enough space in the back. Love how you both talk about your likes and dislikes, its perfect ♥️
I've heard this vehicle can be a bit jerky, i wonder if the GLC rides the same. I like the boxy shape of the GLB but seems like the GLC might be better?
Was waiting for the family version of your GLB after your solo review. We got the B-Class shortly before the GLB came out (we didn’t know it was coming out, and our salesperson didn’t say anything). I kicked myself in the nuts for not knowing. Now I wanna kick myself in the nuts again after seeing both your reviews.

Purchased 2022 GLB250 July similar to the one in your video ~ Had a 2021 GLB35 (With real exhausts) 4matic ! The ride in the GLB35 was very unforgiving ! 21 inch , very stiff , always avoiding pot holes & dips! Had me always worrying! GLB250 FWD 19inch, Drives different but seems to me much more comfortable! Gregory ~ Linda ~ Brent ~ My Name & My wife & My Son.!

Better vehicle than I expected, but hard plastics in high-touch areas on a vehicle costing $49K is unacceptable. I did take note of the fuel mileage in the 💥INFORMATION EXPLOSION💥and was surprised to see that the 4Matic gets 1 MPG more on the highway than the FWD model. I think Miss Mercedes works well enough ...if you ask her kindly. Classy lady. After all, she is a Mercedes 😮 I was surprised that she expressed shock when you told her to 'shut up'. LOL!

PS: I must be around the same age as your mom (early 60's) as I remember the two sizes of Coca-Cola bottles. I believe they were 7 ounces and 10 ounces.

This is the 7 seat Large SUV I would buy, I'm from th UK, so this is large for us haha

Side profile reminds me of a PT Cruiser or Chevy HHR...not necessarily a bad thing considering the utility those designed allowed.
Sometimes the screaming seems like a strange amount of excitement to have for some very unexciting cars but I do crave the Micah energy so I think we need a strategic deployment of the screaming moreso...

13:35 It makes no sense because its not true, the FWD gets 31mpg highway, the AWD 30mpg highway, check the EPA site. Also, the reason the MPG difference is so tiny, is because the GLB will be operating in FWD mode on the highway whether you get FWD or AWD version as it disengages power from the rear when not needed, and the tiny drop in economy is just because of slightly extra weight and maybe drag from the extra components under the car.
You're looking at the fuel economy figures for the 2021 model. Go back and check out the figures for the 2020 model we tested. FuelEconomy.gov does indeed show the 4MATIC awd version getting better highway fuel economy.
That said, subsequent model years show the fwd version as more efficient. That makes me think the EPA might've screwed up the 2020 numbers.
It may be getting better fuel economy in AWD because the SUV is a bit underpowered and requires more work from the from only the front two tires

Was also disappointed to find out the rear seats (5 seater) don't slide back and forth. Otherwise, ok for its size.

I'm not a fan of that white on black interior. I think it could get stained easily for a compact family crossover, and it won't be easy to clean. If you're skeptical about the cleanliness of your cat interior, like I am, you'll want to look at another interior color. It looks good, though.
GLB is the equal to the gateway drug for MB’s. They give you the taste and in no time you’ll be wanting the GLE than GLS! Get em into the brand young.
I choose: Calm at the beginning but gradually louder and louder until you're just screaming at the end.

Both great vehicles but Telluride is more spacious & power but nonetheless they both have great optional equipment
50k for 2.0T 221HP 0-60 in 6.9 is a deal breaker for me. I love the car though.
That's a similar price and similar performance to many cars that have come before it (when including options and accessories).
@@ALMX5DP the competition is pretty tough in this price range, I'm not sure a low level Merc badge can compete.

@@ALMX5DP I have ordered a new GLB here in the UK but it's 2wd, 7 speed and only a 1.3 163hp car. We don't get the 2.0 petrol option in non AMG 35 guise. Oh the price, that would equal $60,000

I have test driven the glb250 but I like the AMG night package because of the aesthetics, that's all. What I said was that even the most expensive cars have plastic, I just like the fact that you can build to your taste and pay for what you want and not the extra stuff that you really don't need. I built one with the AMG night package and like it. Have a great weekend.
