Also Scotty, no timing belt! The 3.5 V6 uses a chain.
I was going to mention this as well. Costly over the life of a vehicle. But it doesn't matter whether its a belt or a chain. Belts wear, chains stretch, they can both snap. The important thing is what happens when it does break. If the engine is an interference engine it will mess up all the valves and timing and wreck the motor. (VW, Mitsu, Acura, Honda, and plenty more companies do this) The alternative is a free running engine which allows the belt or chain to break but not interfere with the engine. What I don't know is what the technical gain is for either configuration. There must be a reason why companies choose to do this one way or another.
@@juancastillo5078 I'd think that a belt-driven valve train would be a cheaper manufacturing cost for carmaker.
@@juancastillo5078 chains last a lot longer than belts. A lot of manufacturers have gone away from belts (I'm thinking of you Honda) for the superior method of Chains.

Scotty.
I work on Mercedes as a mobile mechanic.
Mercedes are the biggest overstated piles of crap on the planet.
I always get customers asking me what kind of car should they buy when they’re tired of spending $500 every month in Mercedes repairs.
For years I e steered the. To Lexus with the V6 engine and especially the GS 350.
The maintenance is pretty
Low and they don’t have the serviceable timing belt like most Lexus do….they have a timing chain that never gives any trouble.
Although I specialize in Mercedes I have quite a few Lexus that I service once my customers get out of Mercedes and into Lexus.
I actually like working in Lexus but I will say a lot of their factory parts are expensive as hell but the staple service item parts are pretty reasonable in the aftermarket.
I deal with a lot of dealerships with wholesale accounts but Lexus dealerships suck donkey balls when it comes to getting a wholesale account.
They don’t even want to talk to you if you’re not spending $100-k a year with them.
Screw that man…..greedy bastards.
Their loss cause I just get stuff online cheaper anyways but it’s just nice to have a relationship with a dealership at times but Lexus acts like they’re too good for the small mechanic.

I have this EXACT car, color and everything with the exception of RWD. Coming from up North I needed the AWD. Now that I live in Georgia I don’t have to worry about the snow. Mine is an 08 with only 105K. I love this car and will be keeping it for a very long time. Thanks Scotty! 👏🏽👏🏽
Is it still epic?
When he removed all of the plastic covers I thought this was a repair video but it's a Lexus
Thanks for that information, about the V8 being harder to repair. Wow!
Right on Scotty! What you are saying about them is why I looked for 3 months to find the right one for me.
Thank you for these great videos! 🌅
Scotty with a love affair with another car? The Celica might get jealous.
Threesome!
Imagine if a Celica GT Four shows up or MR2 GT or Supra ( in original form that is )
@@hybridAbsol nahhh...Scotty would say: "They are gas hogs".
@@RogerM88 but...Scotty likes reasonable fast cars , he cant say no to these
The Supras have good gas mileage tho
I lost it when he talked about the modern front grill that goes WAH with the baby’s meme 😂 this man got endless meme
Thanks Scotty! You're awesome!
I love that body style! Hate they went away from it!!
I think the reason for the weird location of the battery in the Porsche is to lower the vehicle's center of gravity and thus reduce its tendency to roll under hard cornering. Locating the battery behind the firewall will also lower the vehicle's polar moment of inertia and consequently increase the steering responsiveness. Every car is made with compromises between performance, comfort and convenience.
I have a 2007 Lexus GS 350 AWD with K&N intake and I absolutely love it. Very reliable and incredibly fun / fast for a 4 door sedan
K&N short ram intakes are the way to be. Rock on, man!
Nick. Did u notice a power increase with ur kn install thinking about it myself.
PM Rich cold air intake are better than short ram
@@mikexcanxjerk Yessir, yer right but the roads here are crap and the springtime rain all gets sucked up into the CAI. That will screw over my little rice burner, which I cannot do. The car is just too good to me.
@@frankbernal900 you'll get about 10 horses and a great thrushy sound. Plus, the air filter is good for 100k miles.
The video that convinced me to pull the trigger on getting this vehicle!
Love your wonderful videos. I've learned so much.
Proud owner of a 2008 Lexus GS350 RWD! Solid as a rock 🛡
KeeCarReviews I want 1
@@QthAgR8 You won't regret it. I did a review of my GS on my channel. Make sure the Carfax shows scheduled maintenance and you're good to go!
I live in the south so I've lucked out the past few seasons. It's decently weighted so I'd image it would perform ok. Not as good as the AWD version of course.
@@rashadkee looking at 2008 GS 350 Awd are those good or bad....I do know it has been regularly maintained at lexus dealership and has had the differentials changed out
Yay, I have this car! 2GR-FSE for the win! AWD
I'M having this Same AWD GS350 Lexus while waiting for my new car to arrive, this one is quite the beast, love it!
Sold my red 06 GS300 with 196k miles in Feb. Car was super reliable. Over the 6 years that I owned it, all it ever needed was a fuel pump (my fault, let the fuel get to E before filling up for ~2 years) and an AC pump. I'm in an 04 LS430 with 102k miles now, hoping it'll last as long and be equally reliable!
