    Such an epic match - these guys are all serious doubles athletes. I also loved watching how each team handled pressure. Cole and Mike buckled down, captured the emotion, and funneled it into good play. Ryan and Alex took the opposite tack - kept some emotional distance, focused on key moments, but otherwise joked around and looked for moments to have fun. Both approaches resulted in great tennis.

    I enjoyed this match so much because all four of them played with everything they had! Cole and Mike were all business while Alex and Ryan kept it loose. Their contrasting styles between points changed to all players being hyper focused during play. Thanks for the great production because none of this would be apparent if there was no commentary.

    Thank you to all the players - all of you did excellent. Thank you to the Essential Tennis team for putting this together so well. Thank you to PlayYourCourt for sponsoring it. Thank you for the good-sportsmanship and good natured jabbing during the match. And a Special Thank You that the 2nd to last point worked itself out. Scott and Ian you both did a great job with commentary while not being too loud on the players.

    Nice doubles from all players! It really came down to a handful of points. I think the fact that Ryan and Alex play regularly together was a small but very important advantage.

    Just sat down and watched this, even though when I turned on the TV Agut and Sinner were going at it, that's how much I wanted to watch this! Two back-to-back 40 - love games not converted by Mike and Cole ... ouch. Congrats to Alex and Ryan, clutch playing and so humble and supportive of each other and a good sense of humor while still confident in their abilities. Mike and Cole are great guys also, a little more intense in their style. Not playing together regularly maybe some miscommunication here and there, but they are great doubles players and had their chances, two tie breaks, wow. I bow down to all four guys, top notch play and entertainment.

    Very entertaining match at a high, high level of play! One minor thing from the commentary perspective -- not to be overly critical of an excellent call, but...If I'm not mistaken, Alex and Ryan said they play 1 doubles for their school. Their experience together was probably the difference in the match. They did appear casual at times, but I'm guessing they've learned what works for them.

    Epic battle! So true to the mantra that it came down to just a couple of points. It was hard to watch Mike/Cole lose both games when they were up 40-love, but they kept their composure and battled to the very end. You got to hand it to Alex/Ryan for playing big when it mattered. Scott and Ian had great insights into the emotions the players were feeling, and giving us some great facial reactions to the points. More doubles please!

    Bravo...that was some great tennis! Both teams were evenly matched and the difference was in a few momentum swings (backhand winners on serve to break) and winning points at critical times in the match. To be honest, it was reassuring to know that even high level players flub volleys at the net.

    Really highlights the importance of having a good serve. Ryan volley pretty mediocre for a lot of the day but every time it was crunch time, he reached back for some huge bombs. Made all the difference. More inspiration to go work on the serve.

      Maybe it’s a USA college thing? As a viewer and a tennis player, those constant shrieks got to me. The decibel level, the average shot or mistake which was followed by it. It’s not for me. Yes, everyone once and a while to pump yourself up or at key moments, I fully understand and see it as a positive. However it felt and sounded wrong, too often, almost, where Serena is currently at with her game, if you know what I mean.

    • @evanc.2382
      @evanc.2382 3 года назад

      Sometimes it may seem like that, and I agree about Serena. But I didn't think Mike was doing it. He was just anxious which made him release energy both positive and negative when points were over.

  • @aesbinz9894
    @aesbinz9894 3 года назад

    Good game for both, one of the best if not the best match on ET history, exciting and thrilling match. I think the deciding factor here is that Ryan/Alex chemistry and playing together shows no hesitation, no tentative movements and full trust w/ each other, while Mike/Cole did hold and played really great, their chemistry and team play is lacking towards the end or crucial part of the game. Team chemistry and team play looks like Ryan/Alex=comrade, Mike/Cole=Senior/Junior. Can we do more doubles match, this one really and exciting match and didn't notice the time of each video has gone by while watching.

    Great sets guys!!! Ryan can't finish points at the net...difficult or easy balls, and missed most of all his volleys overall...and they still won. Very unlikely scenario in doubles. Alex was cool for putting up with Ryan 's liability at the net. How about a volley session after Chick-fila for Ryan.
