Scott returns to the ET court seeking redemption after his loss to Mark. The only problem is, his opponent Adam is determined to return every serve, run down every ball, and fight tooth and nail for every point. Will Scott's aggressive game style be able to undo his counter-punching opponent, or will Adam's relentless defense be enough to serve Scott his second loss?

Love all the match play content at this level. So competitive and tactically interesting
Better than HBO Max
🙏❤
Better than last season of Game of Thrones
@@alng16 I fancy myself a Tyrion/Bran/Hound hybrid 😬
@@alng16 not really saying much tbh....
The music at 18:13 makes me want to get out my glowsticks, stunna shades, and pacifier - absolute BANGER of a sound track....
Oh yeah, and good tennis too from @scott broady and Adam S.
As always, awesome content @essentialtennis - glad to see you are adding more heroes (..villains...?) to the ET Cinematic Universe.
Do you even rave, bro?
Agree-getting some new blood in the mix is fun. Btw, Alex Lau wants a piece of both of us in this format...
@@scottbroady3159 he doesnt stand a chance at my KFC-infused ground strokes
Scott is #goals man. But Adam is wily. What an exciting match!
Ian, these matches are my favorite thing on RUclips by far.
Love the name!
@@scottbroady3159 if you dont mind me asking, how old are you? i'd like to be in your kind of shape when i get older :D
@@cd2707 not at all. I am 52; while it’s statistically a disadvantage, I think that as long as you maintain your fitness you can still be viable and competitive. It takes some commitment, but if you enjoy it, it is pretty easy.
Watching this is a really great way to improve match style tennis. Hearing the critiques also helps expose the do’s and dont’s aspects of a tennis match. I can’t wait to utilize what I’m learning from this for my USTA league matches! Thanks and keep it going! 👏🎾😎👍
The production quality on these videos is just awesome. Great work everyone at ET. Keep 'em coming.
Hands together for these awesome players. RUclips needs more thumbs up buttons. Last but not least thanks to Ian and Essential Tennis team for yet another superb tennis video. 500k coming up. Cheers!
P.S., waiting for part 2!!
Hey all, I have a thought here: just noticing a underlying thread of posts opining that Adam is tenaciously trying to break me down makes me wonder: aren’t I trying to do the same thing to him? We have different approaches, for sure; he is making me hit ball after ball after ball, sometimes uncomfortably so, while I am trying to pound him into submission with heavy aggressive shots. What we have here, and I think it’s genius of @Essential Tennis and @TennisTroll, among others, is an opportunity to recognize this Mortal Kombat aspect of tennis. There’s no single right way to win (but plenty of wrong ways to lose), and what makes it exciting and fun is that we put ourselves (and our fighting styles) on the line to see if we can battle to completion and maybe emerge victorious. Thoughts?
Brilliantly said. Injecting a bit of fun while experiencing the process by good sportsmanship, challenging oneself and giving it the best of ourselves just makes it that much better. After all, we may think that the challenger across the court is the one that we battle with and that he or she may be trying to break us down, but at least in my truth I find that all we experience in this great game is our interpretation of what our adversary does and how we respond to it at any given time. How we deal with our stance, position, shots, and the decisions that we make in that split second are what make us victorious or less successful than expected. This makes what the opponent does not as significant as our own input at any given time.
@@-Munditimum- we are of the same mind. Great to see you here again.
@@scottbroady3159 Cheers Scott. Thanks for the reply. I noticed your game is different (at least in the 1st part - am I right about this??). Really looking forward to Part 2!
@@-Munditimum- definitely! I took notes from the last match and tried to make some some adjustments to decrease my high risk shot selection. I certainly fall back on old habits, but I was pleased overall with the adjustments I made. A different match from the last, to be sure, but as that last game shows, the fates are conspiring against me!

*FINISH HIM*
Great stuff as always, Ian! Also, huge shoutout to your video editors! They're doing an awesome job with the audio and footage!
Great to see Scott back! Loving this match because of the contrast in styles, a hard hitter vs a bringing all back wall. Adam's game is so tough, a lot of patience is needed. Personally I think it is a match up that I would often lose, as I cannot keep up with moon balls and long rallies, so I'm looking forward to see how Scott finds solutions and take them myself on board!
Nice match between two different styles of players. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out. Can't wait for part two.
Ian, I really enjoy these matches. Thanks so much for doing this for your viewers and ES members. I agree with many who have posted before me, it's so much easier to see form and strategy with your players than the pros. Keep it up. One little request, do you think you could ever have a doubles match?...
I love all this matches the intensity and how Ian builds expectation. Lethal combination
This really help to watch! for someone who are at the same level(or possibly lower level) like me its great. i can´t relate to the pros playing tennis.
Very instructive!
Thanks for sharing.
greetings for a subscriber from Sweden!
Men at this level play more like women pros. I can relate to women players better lol, even though they would stomp me too.
Great editing at the end, even having the snare hit lineup with overhead.
Genius content! Apart from the play itself, hearing their thoughts during changeovers is such a learning opportunity. I think they both said "I've got to do xyz" during the changeover, and then went out and didn't do it in the next game. To their credit, they kept their composure and followed through with their plans on the game after. It's a chance to see mental toughness in action.
I love this aspect of it as well. As a participant, it keeps your head in the game. It’s easy to just put your head down and charge, but it bears fruit when you are continually asked to analyze the action. Both Adam and I kept walking to the bench and Ian reminded us to do our changeover talks a lot! It is subtle, but I honestly felt much more engaged and calm because of it. I highly recommend it!
Guys, am I the only one that took a look at Adam and instantly thought "FedEx Delivery Guy". Lol. All kidding aside; grate playing from both Adam and Scott. Ian, you have strucked gold with this content. Love the confessionals during changovers. Keep up the grate work and can't wait for part 2. Go Scott!!!
😆 Glad you're enjoying it!
Loving the dramatic music Ian! Can't wait to see who wins!
Great content. Loving that whispering style golf commentary by Ian
Love this match!
Adam played like Andy Murray as well as his voice.
These matches are especially fun because of the player's camera interaction and discussion between games!!
OMG! Could this be anymore EXCITING!!!!!!!!! 👍🏼. Both players are so good!
Thanks for the match! I think we need a video on how Scott trains to stay this fit.
prefer watching this to professional games - i can really relate to this.
Love matches like this one. I feel I can get much more usefil tips than watching another Federer vs Nadal match:)
I think that it is great that they are both friends and highly complimentary of the opponent's good shots rather than self-berating unforced errors. Someone has to win, someone has to lose, but both gain insights as to how they can improve their game.
I think I’ve said it before, it I don’t believe that Tennis is a zero-sum game, with only a winner and a loser; the right opponent will challenge you and respect you as well, and together you both can do something amazing. I think that a couple of my greatest matches were losses, and I finished them smiling because of the way the other guy and I raised each other to such high levels of play.
the best tennis content available on the internet
Dude, the editing and music of the vids are so awesome! I feel like the gif where Michael Jackson is eating popcorn watching.
Good stuff so far. Think what really stands out so far is the footwork.
nice game to both, this match can go either way and a really good contrasting match. Also that techno sound at the end
These guys are really fun! Whatever the outcome, a replay with Adam being better used to the surface should be in order.
That 3-3 hold by Scott after being down 15-40. Great. The break in the next game to go up 5-3. BEAST MODE SCOTT. Adam breaking back at 5-4 after being down 30-0? This is killer tennis. Hat's off to both.
This is my favorite thing on RUclips for real. It has me wanting to get back into tennis.
Do it!
@@scottbroady3159 I just bought an old Dunlop 200g off ebay. I used to play with that same stick back in high school and college. Local court just did a complete re-surface about two blocks down the street. Only thing keeping me from it is work.
@@rodyaromanovic3741 that was my stick in high school as well! I hope you get to use it soon.
I’m a solid 4.0 and both these guys would wax me. Still a long way to go. Keep up the great work Ian!
Glad you're enjoying the content, keep up the hard work!
Very entertaining match with high quality players 👏 ! I still give Scott the edge because he has the better serve and more attacking style. Definitely going to be interesting.
Great gameplay guys!! Scott did the monfils 😂 no look forehand when getting lobbed
Absolute 🔥 content 🏆 and great hitting guys, inspirational.
Thanks, man!
The man who would not go away. Shows how it affects the opponents’ play. Scott no worries. Keep your composure. You can go out on a break. It seems on both sides, hard to consolidate after a break.
Adam. Right on. Great mix up of play styles. From baseline grinder to a little SnV. Keeping the ball deep is troublesome for Scott. Cheers on both sides. Thanks for you efforts and Ian, thanks for your display.
Thanks, Benjamin! Yeah, when Adam and I battle, it seems like the toughest thing for us is to consolidate the break. Definitely was on my mind when we switched sides!
I love the way how Scott plays. Very strong shots. 😊
PS: Who make this video? It's better than Netflix's movies. 🤔😂
Would be really interesting if after the two sets you did some work with each player to talk about what went well / wrong and then they play a short tie-break to implement some of the recomendations
Great match. Both players playing well....
Great stuff. Love these games!
Do you mind doing a deep analysis on why Scott hits so deep (technique, follow through, energy force etc) serve also thanks
because he hits with more topspin and generates more force.
Scott has something that I am only beginning to develop...good arm-lag on his forehand. That's where the effortless power comes from. Hey, Scott, if you never read Andre Agassi's autobiography, OPEN, read the part where Andre hires Brad Gilbert to coach him. Read Gilbert's analysis of Andre's game, and what Andre should do to maximize his abilities.
And that music at the end haha
Amazing!
Excelent Players. It seems to me that Scott has better technique , but Adam has a better mental and strategy. Looking foward to see who wins.
Ian every time you set up a match with a new interesting player. Where do you dig them up from? How many more have you got?
You know some really good people, I must admit...
Wow! Music, teasers, suspense, and new characters!
Hey Mark - at least when Ian analyzes these videos they won't be points of you losing ;)
😆
Great vid, would love to your post game analysis Ian
Definitely on the way!
I really like them talking to the camera through the match.
Scott's placement on his serve is so good, and just enough pace. Tough weapon.
I am really enjoying these singles matches. You should show a 4.5 doubles match for us doubles players.
I am so in
agree - I would keep it to Adam's forehand especially when serving to him.
Hey Troll!
@@scottbroady3159 Scott! Good playing. When free, send me an email in regards to your previous question. TennisTrollChannel@gmail.com.
You read my mind
Did anybody keep count on how many foot faults Adam had? I lost count 🙃
Just gotta count all of his service points played
Pretty outrageous
Interesting how Ian tried to up his offense against Mark; how Scott tried to up his offense against Mark; how Mark tried to up his offense against Cole; and now Adam is trying to punch up his offense a little against Scott. It would seem that when the other guy is a little better it does force you to stretch your game a little. I remember Mark really trying to find that line of upping his game against Cole --- at times he was successful, but as Cole kept taking Mark's punches Mark started to make more errors. So far it seems Adam is stretching, but staying within himself pretty well. Second: I kind of like the tennis soap opera Ian has started. Where we get to know all the characters and see their personalities on change overs. We need to add Ben!!!!
No disrespect to any past iterations of Essential Tennis, but I feel like the channel is in a golden age.
lol at the techno music at the end! And whose kids are you babysitting? haha
Can't go wrong with a moonball baby.
Absolutely love that
I *LOVE* those series!!!
We have many more coming your way!
I thought i was at the movies! Two thumbs up! When Adam started wiping the floor with Scott's face i was on the edge of my seat. Once the music kicked in if anyone tried to interrupt me i would have bitten their head off! I'm gonna have the Raisinettes, Ju-Ju-B's, and buttered popcorn ready for the finale'...
When was this wiping happening?
I mean, I know it looks like I have a little mop on my face...😬
In the spirit of friendly competition you two friends put it all on the line and you obviously were getting the better of him. Maybe it was the editing, but it looked like Adam was making a comeback toward the end. People who can't play tennis on your stratosphere tend to side with Adam because we relate to him. Who doesn't vote for the underdog? If I had to bet my life on the final result I would have to bet my hand on you, Scott. No matter what happens, when all is said and done and the last ball is rolling toward the sidelines, you two guys are gonna walk toward the net, chins held high, both of you knowing you have won in your own way, no matter whose face did the mopping...
@@johnpaulgarrett1 well said! We had a fun match, like we always do, and the ebbs and flows are always great sources of drama.
Pls do Ian and cole vs Scott and Mark
Yussss
Great match and a tough contrast in styles, especially for Scott, Adam is just using his pace against him but every so often pulls off some awesome winners also. Going to be interesting to see which way this one goes but.... My money is on Scott 👍🏻 Bring on Part 2!
Yes. This is the idea. Let's see how it goes.
🙏❤
At 3-4, love-15, Scott hits a beautiful combo of heavy forehands. Then at 3-4, 15-40 another great combo to go up 5-3. At 5-3, 30-love, it's set fini for Adam. But there must be a Border Collie hidden in that lad! Entertaining contrast of styles and strengths. And Scott's service motion is a model of efficiency and power. He even knocked off Adam's mic pack! Isn't that an automatic match DQ?
Nice little steps by the older guy. He seemed to be well-balanced almost each time. Entertaining match though!
This is so entertaining.
awesome game. scott is still my hero, great serve
Absolutely!
Scott's forehand is much better comparing the match against Mark if my memory was not wrong.
You can see the smooth full swing for the most of forehands.
However the backhand'swing path has to be fixed~
Could you please stream sometimes a double matches :) Thanks
Yes, we'll do doubles soon!
@@EssentialTennis Thank you :) This, what you do, is really interesting :)
No
Scott’s backhand is pretty nice
Woulda replayed the mic issue pt. Touch of respect lost there
Scott's serve has effortless power...wow.
Is this in slow motion???
OFFENSE vs DEFENSE
Let's goooo!
What kind of grip did Adam have?
It appears Adam spends some time with his foot on the baseline during his serve. Should a player be concern in during a competitive matches like this or should you just overlook the foot fault and move on just play? Just want to how to handle this type of situation.
Whenever Adam managed to push Scott back off the baseline then hit a short ball (especially a low slice), it seemed to cause Scott lots of problems. Caused a few errors or weaker shots of Scott's racket.
Very true
@@scottbroady3159 I didn't count the backhand errors but that oikhena's identified the pattern. What to do about that? More footwork to get closer to the ball instead of just stretching to reach it? Easier said than done, I know.
OOOOOOO I had to double-take when I saw Adam rocking a Dunlop Force 98!! Attempting to watch the match unbiased.........
This literally made me laugh! That stick...
@@scottbroady3159 The racquet of raw human soul
@@scottbroady3159 Great stuff by the way; you're a joy to watch.
@@SeireaTennis thanks, man! I love to play.
😆
Seems like everyone is using this blue string lately. Anyone know what that is they are using? Seen it popping up all over the place.
It’s a Solinco Revolution. Good spin and durability, and it stands out from the usual strings. I actually strung Adam’s racquet for him!
If either of these guys show up at our 4.5 league match, there're gonna be complaints filed lol
Yep. Not too many 4.5 players are that good
E tennis says Exhausting Player is 4.5. Yeah rt. Which is it?
@@Bubbles99718 even though his play does not look like 4.5 but he would beat 4.5 players that are big hitters but are not patient or consistent and especially those that do not have good stamina. well, some of the vids actually demonstrated that.
@@tuankhong5104 I'd put money on these 2 guys and that other 4.5 from here. The Creature would get bagled by these guys
@@Bubbles99718 yeah, these guys are way too good at 4.5 - at least, they are about to get bumped to 5.0
Scott plays so well that you forget there’s a big age difference between the players. Bravo
Very two different players.
Adam’s a tough opponent for anyone in the 4.5 league. His style of play reminded me of Murray...Consistent and waiting for his opponent to make the move. He played super smart to break Scott’s rhythm by mixing up shots.
Scott, on the other hand, has an aggressive game...definitely prefers to attack and enjoys shorter rallies. But tbh, it’s hard to imagine scott losing on his ON day. I wonder how his condition was for this match.
Damn, runs good for old man!
My coach’s career high in tennis was atp 1400, how do I beat him? Thanks
Get to 1399
The amount of points Scott would have got if someone watched the foot faults in this match!
difference in depth of analysis between this match & Mark Sansait matches. Mark is much more in know on what is happening on the other side of the court. Scott is even asking him that question. i would want to ask you at those times. looking back was is a technical flaw or a wrong tactical decision which causes the mistakes. funnily Ian explained in the previous video where you should work on those high percentage heavy balls when you feel you are in trouble making too much mistakes. Giving yourself time takes away from your opponents. together with the skills you already use very well it would make you even tougher of an opponent.
Mark is better in front of a camera than me, for sure.
Thanks Scott for your reply, best wishes from the netherlands
Adam could be the new definition of Most Exhausting Player (MEP) in the best possible way. @Scott, if you're dealing with some tennis elbow, maybe try a racquet that isn't so stiff. That Babolat is an arm killer! We need to protect that golden arm! :-D
reuploaded?
I'm pretty sure every time anyone ever has told theirself "keep your composure" after a fault, they've immediately double faulted.
7:49 that was IN big time!
Can't wait! Go Scott
🙏❤
Scott. How old were you when you started playing?
Who says tennis has an off-season!!!!!!
2 of those aces of the 2nd game i believe were out mate.
Scott has beautiful form
This is a high end 4.5 match
Do u mind if i ask Scott's age?
Not at all-I am 52 years old.
What if the focus of the video was just Ian watching. Like the same video, but everyone is just watching Ian move his head side to side
I want to play 😩
Looking the games looked like Scott was not proper using his leg on the backhand side and that's why missing a lot of shots on this side.
Tell me more, please
@@scottbroady3159 sorry for the late reply Scott nice to see you in court and here in the comments. Some times I think you hit the ball without bending the knees and then going up as you hit the ball, so you don't transfer your with to the ball and this makes you sometimes or go to much through the ball and flatten it too much or you miss time it and hit the bottom of the net because you are leaning back when you hit it. But this is what I think, maybe Ian can put his opinion here as well (@Essential Tennis - Lessons and Instruction for Passionate Players) because I tend to have the same problem the only difference is that I have a one-hand backhand.
@@pedrogdiniz I think you make a good point about getting lower with the knees and driving up through the ball. I tend to strike the ball best when I’m hitting it on the rise (that Bh to win the first game is an example), and I don’t generate the pace I could when it’s a slower, loopier ball coming at me. I tend to slice the Bh approach, too. Something to work on before the next match! Thanks for the insight.
Adam, where are the angle shots?
Thanks for watching!
