      It's the same with the border wall. Many contractors took advantage and provided sub-standard products and services that were used in the construction of the wall while raking in millions. Emotional "patriots" will throw money at things which hit a nerve without delving into the details and ultimately be swindled by those who know which buttons to push.

      In most places that’s not enough for a week. It’s so sad. Even people in their own RV’s are at risk. I understand the encampments looks like a hot mess, but bouncing people around will not help the crisis. Those with drug and mental health issues have to be helped differently from those that can’t afford housing. It’s the worst feeling not being able to have a place of your own. Being homeless leaves a person feeling hopeless and depressed. People that have never been in that situation will stick up their nose , and type disgusting comments, like they know what it’s like. I am homeless but I don’t feel any better because I’m not living in a tent. I understand the hopelessness,being told I am a burden, and being judged. I am not on drugs, I am full time college student, and I just got a full time job. That doesn’t matter. We are from different walks of life, but are in the same boat. I am sorry you are going through this and it isn’t right. I hope you get the help you need soon. God bless.❤

He doesn't care about human beings and yes the homeless ARE HUMAN BEINGS. California needs to be audited and so does every nonprofit that was granted funds. Counties start stupid programs like housing counseling. That means nothing to a homeless person bc they don't have a home to manage. They create a program and funnel the money from it to pay for other programs and raises for CEO’s. There should have been enough money to build shelters or set up a tent city that's safe and social workers can get to the people to help them.
      Try not to lose your humanity by degrading another human being. I've been homeless several times and believe me it wasn't by choice and it sucked bad. People treat you like crap. Its not just addicts out there, there's families homeless bc the rent is too high in California.

Shelters are a temporary place and many people don’t feel safe going to them, so we have all these orders but they’re not going to change anything unless people have a legitimate and dignified place to go. Section 8 is active, but there's a long waiting list. A couple things they could do immediately would be to outlaw Air B&B and impose rent control statewide. On a national level, Congress could pass a law stating that tax breaks for home purchases only be applied to one house at a time per family. Incentivizing house flipping is ridiculous, and only drives up prices to stupid high levels that a lot of folks simply can't afford.

    • @nightmahershadows

      @@nancymcmonarch so it’s important to understand that section 8 itself has been completely shut down in certain areas like it’s non existent for many years, waiting lists closed and shut down = a non existent service. So it can be said that it’s “active” but if something is closed and shut down for years upon years you know people who have approached it and it’s always been a closed down system is how it comes across now maybe that’s like what your saying with the waiting list but it’s not an active system if people aren’t even able to get on a list, that’s all that I’m articulating here. So, according to homeless advocates, the state is supposed to allow the unhoused to continue living in dangerous and unsanitary conditions until there is enough accommodations to house everyone? Even if a miracle happened and they could get everyone off the streets of Cali in 6 months, the public cannot wait that long, something has to be done now! And what about the those who say they don't want services? What are the advocates saying should be done with these folks? Allow them to stay on the streets until they're ready good and ready to receive assistance? Homeless advocates aren't offering any real solutions except repeating "more housing is needed." What about businesses that are closing their doors because no one wants to walk through encampments to shop or eat...are the advocates going to pay that business owner's rent/mortgage, take care of his/her family or help laid off employees find new jobs when the business has to close due to low or no customer foot traffic? The advocates need to come up with viable alternatives if they don't agree with what's being done. The "we need more housing" doesn't address the crises that is happening here and now.

      I used to teach at a school for immigrant/refugee children. (Sweetest students I've ever worked with, btw.) A LOT of immigrants are sponsored by family members or kindly host families, and they get a phenomenal amount of private support, mainly from the Catholic church. And in our city we had restaurants, bakeries, and stores donating an amazing amount of food, clothing, and other stuff to help out the kids and their families.

      @@cruzn4ever169 actually, I don't think it's that difficult. For example, no one can fix the border crisis because there is no real desire to do so. Simple, enforce the law(s) guard the border. Deport violators. Crisis over. Same with our current homelessness. Once, they quit really enforcing the law(s) and just giving it a wink and a nod guess what it grew!!! There are not a few people that "check out" in society and say I willingly decide to not work or participate. In my area (Seattle) these people appear in documentaries stating such. People go out to bring them food they may not even want because "you brought hot dogs, well the other group bought them pizza". It's maddening. It's like removing speed limits on a highway then wondering why fatalities are up 50%!!!! Enforce laws.

    • @celebrityrog
      @celebrityrog Месяц назад +2

      Housing should be a right, a right based on mandatory drug testing if you have been "homeless" have any drug or theft charges in your entire life history, at which time if you pass, you keep your home. If you fail, then you lose the home, and get sent to prison. There shouldn't be any chances for the rest of any of these druggies lives. For those of us who aren't criminal, arent druggies and don't pretend to be homeless - we would be able to remain in homes. We have a chance to fall from grace and recover. If you fell once, you shouldn't have a second chance to get back up. You didn't learn the first time to not do it in the first place. So yes, I think housing is a right, but that right is based on being a contributing member of the society that makes that housing happen. Criminals need not apply, they should NEVER be guaranteed anything since they steal from us.

    • @LikeLikeLikeLikeLi
      @LikeLikeLikeLikeLi Месяц назад +3

      @@celebrityrog while I LOVE your perspective, there would be no way for the economy to function if the government did that. For example, they “sort of” do that where I’m from: new york city, however public housing is full of crime and homeless shelters are like insane asylums but much worse. So basically the government is saying: “we will give you housing but we can’t make it nice because people actually work and go to fancy schools in order to get nice housing”.

      Probably has not occurred to you that it is just reality that some percentage of people will ALWAYS need help. That's just how it is. There are people with chronic illness, with mental illness and yes, in fact, some who just have very low IQs or emotional IQs and they cannot make it in this system as it is. And we will either make it so they have help and avoid hellscapes like Skid Row, the Tenderloin/Civic Center/East Oakland/(and on and on) or we won't help them, and we will allow them. Personally, given that some people need help, it is better to help them. Working people everywhere already give billions to the super-rich. Turn that shit around and get that wealth that we are all working to create, and share it with people who need it.
