      For starters, California has always had wildfires even before humans came. It’s just how our annual weather cycle works. But there are many factors making them worse. Heavier rains and growth in winter, drier summers means more kindling for the flames. Second, human activity like power lines causing sparks or in this case, a crazy man pushing his burning car into a ravine.

On top of your annual salary, one can get very wealthy with the additional weeks and sometimes months of overtime. Every year you know someone in that state is going to receive a heafty bonus. Does sound crazy but it's been done by people in the past.

      Also, think of the equipment that's used. They can then justify buying new equipment, new tools, new vehicles, and everything involved in the trade every year. You could say they're essentially producing jobs by all of the equipment purchased, then on an even larger scale, think of the people that have to buy new homes, new cars, everything that was lost in the fires. Starting a fire like that produces billions of dollars in production costs for the billions in material that was lost by the fire. Crazy to think that way but it makes sense. It also gives the forestry reason to pick the government pockets for millions to try and replant forest which again produces jobs for forestry personnel. Just a vicious cycle in deed.

      @@linuxphone9063 What is it you think they should be doing that they’re not doing? You seem to sound like you know more than the rest of us do. Please enlighten us. I’m tired of evacuating.
      It was a 5 acre fire at 2:55 on the 24th. By 3:11 that same day they had already requested tactical air support, five engines. By 3:40, an additional engine and copter were requested but the wind shifted and it was going back on areas already burned. Five minutes later the wind shifted again and they requested 10 additional engines and six ground crews. Within the next hour they already started evacuation warnings. Unfortunately it takes quite a bit of time to get those air tankers loaded up and ready to go so we had no support other than a tactical airplane for surveillance and one helicopter. In less than one hour it had gone from 5 acres to 500 acres in mostly uninhabited land. Because I live here, and spent a lot of time in upper Bidwell Park, I can tell you that it’s extremely steep. Where he pushed that car down the ravine is a favorite swimming hole but it’s quite a hike to get down there.
      Early on some fire personnel were helping to conduct people out of remote areas because these are rural areas, some of which only have one way in and out. They had to wait for Sierra Pacific industries which owns quite a bit of lumber land to open the gates so that the people could go out the back roads because the main roads were already engulfed.
      We don’t have enough police in our area to make sure everybody gets out so the fire crews were helping. Their first priority is to save lives. Next is to save structures and third is to save the wilderness areas.
      They’re sending up every airplane and helicopter they can but you can only do so much when you’re fighting a fire that’s in brush covered ravines that are too steep to go down. In addition we have to share that air support with all of the rest of the fires in the area.
      When a structure is involved they send out ground crews. Most of the fire spread is in an inhabited land. The reason you don’t see firefighters everywhere is because they’re all out trying to protect the houses in the communities that are there. They are having to rely on air support to try and contain the perimeter because the ground the area is so steep and so undeveloped that there aren’t even roads out there.
      If you know more, contact the Fire crews instead of here. It’s not going to help anyone to post on Facebook or RUclips. If you have better knowledge contact the Fire crews and share your knowledge. But next time be specific, because stating “advanced firefighting techniques” really says nothing.

    • @janetdw
      @janetdw Месяц назад

      @kirathecanecorso6776
      They can’t fight it because it’s mostly undeveloped land with extremely steep ravines. They’re watching it burn because they’re watching for hotspots that are popping up all over the place. We’ve already had two firenadoes which spread sparks everywhere for up to a mile away. That’s what they’re doing.
      Much of this is not inhabited land. They are sending most of the firefighters to protect structures in the communities that are there.. There are almost 350,000 acres on fire in this one fire. There aren’t enough people. There isn’t enough machinery. There aren’t enough planes. Sometimes the planes can’t go up because it creates its own windstorms and it’s dangerous for the planes to be up there. If you want more information go to firefighting pages and find out what it is they’re doing when you think they’re just standing by.

      Yes, the satellite images actually showed two spiraling firedoes inside of that huge plume. I don’t have the images I’m getting that from a firefighter who was interviewed. Terrifying to watch and if you got to see footage with sound, it’s even worse.
