paulbp2, welcome and congrats on your new purchase. You bring up an excellent point and your honest critique is refreshing. I most likely will be redoing a lot of the content into much shorter versions. I do get carried away at times trying to explain everything in too much detail and wind up having a 15-min video on a 3-min subject. Look for future videos to have a more tailored approach.
Thanks for trying to help, Dr. NT. So even with the websites blocked (Verizon) and the auto updates disabled in the secret menu, the privileged mode is always gone once I turn off the machine for the night. Do you keep yours on all the time? Also, I think they updated the reset software because when I reset using the pinhole, and then I log in, when I tap, it asks for the privileged mode code. Is anyone else experiencing this.
Its about 50/50 when you reset it if it stops at the right update to let you do it. First time it worked. Second time it didn't. Third time it worked. It takes awhile, but do it a few times and it will stop before the update that blocks it. Turning it off will break it again though.
Vik, appreciate the support. I am not giving up on this as I have several videos that explore other options that will help us to bypass the code and allow easy access to the Android desktop. Are you still blocked from privileged mode? Look for two videos coming up on a Hosts Go app and a way to access additional apps without having to type in a code.
I was able to access the secret menu on my new Proform Pro 9000 and tuned off auto-update...Will updated over the next couple of days if anything changes. Thanks for this!
Good luck Rick. To be on the safe side, you may also want to enable developer options and turn off android system updates. Hi Rick. I am just about to get a 9000 . 2 /questions : 1) Do you like yours 2) Has the iFit hack worked ? I am not interested in Ifit as i have a TV in my garage :-)
@@Session7B Hi Dan. Yes with Caveats. 1) I do like it, though it is kind of loud. I've been meaning to connect with their tech support as it just seems the belt is louder than it should be. It works great though. 2) The hack does work. Though to maintain this I can never update to the latest version of the iFit software (unless I missed a subsequent video which shows how to disable that new code/required access to privileged mode.) Every day that I use it I have to click "Later" on do I want to update to the latest version of the software. So I do, but if I accidentally tell it to update I'd have to reset the unit to factory settings and do the whole hack again. Also iFit and the separate apps don't always play nice. You start your workout in ifit and then can use the physical controls to control speed etc. Then switch over to Netflix. I find often when I'm done with Netflix and want to go back to iFit to slow and stop the workout that ifit then crashes. So my workaround is, after I'm done, clear all apps, then relaunch iFit which picks up my progress and lets me stop etc. (This is with the basic iFit, not the paid version.) So yes it's working, but a few little things to remember to do in the right order to make sure the thing doesn't crash requiring me to restart the whole unit. In hindsight I might have gotten a wall wanted TV to put right in front of the Treadmill and then almost any other quality treadmill that works as well but wouldn't have me doing all the runaround nonsense to use it the way I want.

Hey i got to the ifit admin menu by tapping 5x on the uuid BUT when it lands on the next page and i tap 5x again on the top right most corner nothing happens. How to get to the screen to disable automatic updates in 2024. I bought the machine 2 or so years ago
I am still working on this one. There is a way to still access this secret menu. Keep your ear to the ground as I will be posting some new videos in the upcoming weeks.
@NelsonMunoz0714 I figured it out. It still works but you have to be inside privilege mode. When inside privilege mode go into iFit Admin and follow the same steps.
I'm assuming the "code" to enable privileged mode is generated by a function that takes the 6 digit number displayed as input. If someone could find the hashing function that is used, that would be a better solution than blocking updates. The resulting code (gotten from iFit) has to be matched in the control panel software with an internally generated copy. I would bet it's done with a simple operation. Perhaps if we had examples of the codes input to iFit and the codes that iFit provided, we could figure out the function?
Jeffrey, I would agree with you. I actually posted a comment in our Facebook group asking folks to post their number combinations once they receive the code from NordicTrack. Though the response was dismal, even if we did have the correct code, privileged mode would only last for 10 - 15 mins. It would not be the best way forward.
@@NelsonMunoz0714 If you gain privilege mode and sideload additional apps, would you be able to run them once privilege mode expired? Does that require being able to get to the "launcher"?
Jeffrey, I have found a new way to help with this. Send me an email to DoctorNT0714@gmail.com and in the subject line write: PM-Help. I will provide you with an easy way to get past the Privileged Mode Code screen. If I am able to help you, then all I ask is for you to consider either becoming a member of the channel or making a one-time donation via PayPal or venmo. Again, just consider, no need to follow thru.
If you disable the updates, will you be able to use the latest content? Or will you be stuck with only the older content workouts? As much as I would like control of the system, it’s not worth it if it makes your bike less optimal to use. Also have you noticed the video quality being better with the older versions than the newer versions?
Hi Jim, currently if you disable updates, you are correct in saying you would not get some of the newer updates that would allow for more options and newer content. As for video quality it has been noticed by several subscribers that the video quality has degraded somewhat. Off the top of my head, I can't tell you exactly what was the last version of iFit that allowed for a higher quality video. I would have to confer with others to determine the exact version that was the last one to allow for the best quality.
Adding those web address to my router worked. When I hit update it would try and try and try to connect to the site to download updates but couldn't. Thus the S22i is stuck with all the original app versions. This also meant that I got to keep Privileged Mode. My wife didn't like the login on the old version Ifit as all the family members could log in as easily. I unblocked the sites in my router and did one update. Privileged mode is locked again. When I added the web address to my router I added them to block for all devices. Thus no matter if the IP of the NT changes it's still blocked.
Hi Brent, in order the get back your Privileged Mode you will have to do another factory reset, then block the iFit websites again. If you want the newer iFit updates check out my new video on How to install a Taskbar and Floating Apps. ruclips.net/video/XwtlMzBKgBQ/видео.html Though you won't have privileged mode, you will still be able to install additional apps and have the most recent ifit software.
Hi Nelson, thanks for all your work on this. Ultimately, even with setting the password, and blocking auto updates in the secret menu, once you update the new ifit version, you always end up loosing privileged mode (Granted, I did not try to block updates via my router, because I have neither the time nor brain to do so). I can keep privileged mode by doing a factory reset and sticking with the old version of Ifit that came with the machine when I bought it. When you start it up for the first time after the factory reset, it tries to automatically update. You can prevent it from doing this by waiting until it finishes "searching for updates" and then when it says "downloading", turn the machine off, and then on again. It will now jump to the start screen without trying to update it. As long as you don't select update ever, should be good. I would love to know if you find a way to update it to the latest version of ifit in the future, but since I don't use any ifit features, I guess it really dosent matter. As long as I can binge watch crap while I train, I'm happy!
High Ultra. Your concerns mirror a lot of the correspondence I receive concerning whether to update or not. First things first. 1. Make certain to access the Secret iFit Options Menu and disable auto updates. This way you don't have to worry about any accidental updates. 2. I believe disabling auto updates in the secret menu will allow you to bypass having to configure your router. 3. Good news is I have another video I am working on that will allow you to have the latest and greatest iFit app and yet keep privileged mode easily accessible without having to call NordicTrack/iFit for a code. ----- Hang in there and thanks for your support. Hopefully you subscribed and hit the bell 🔔 icon so you will know whenever I post new content. And don't forget to hit that like button! Lol
@@NelsonMunoz0714 Thanks for the reply. I did disable auto updates in the secret menu, but still lost privileged mode when I restarted the machine. In the version of ifit that is on my treadmill when I restart, there is a 'secret menu', but it looks different, and does not have the auto update disable option. And I'm definitely subscribed and getting notifications!
Ultra, if your new version of the Secret iFit menu does not have an option to disable auto updates, then you will have to configure your router to block the updates. Actually I am working on a video where there is another way to "trick" the machine into using something called a virtual hosts file that will block the iFit websites without having to configure your router. Sounds complicated yet is much simpler that going into your router. Hope to have that completed by this weekend, if not sooner.
If you can go into settings, app & notifications, find IFIT admin and click advanced, there is a options “Modify system settings” I’m not sure if this will make a difference with the newest update but I’m trying it today to see if turning that off will stop the new code
My device comes with an older app 2.2 and does not have the console uuid and some other options are not present on that machine info page and thus I cannot enter secret mode. If I update I can access the secret menu but then I can only access the call customer service screen with the 10 taps method so I cant instal apps.
Hi Rafael, Dr. NT here. Send an email to: DoctorNT0714@gmail.com and in the Subject line write "PM-Help." I'll respond and provide you the info you need to gain back control of your smart exercise machine and still receive iFit updates; the best of both worlds.
A little off topic but….I set my display to turn off after 5 min of inactivity…this works wonderfully until I have to wake it up, I can’t! Any insight? Otherwise the screen NEVER turns off unless I turn the machine off.
Hi Kathryn, unfortunately once your display turns off, there is only one way to turn it back on. Well, actually two ways. 1. If you have a USB port, insert a thumb drive and it will pop up a window which will wake up your display. 2. The only other way is to power cycle your machine. The sleep option is tied in with the Android desktop which, if you were actually on a hand-held tablet, would normally have a button that you could depress allowing you to wake up your display.
We have the x32i and it was unlocked for about a month before it got locked again. It’s just exhausting trying to use something I bought the way I want to but can’t.
SA, I feel your pain. It is extremely frustrating to have this beautiful 32" screen and not be able to utilize it for anything besides iFit. NordicTrack's move to take control of our machines may still backfire against them. A WIRED article was recently written talking about this very subject. ----- www.wired.com/story/nordictrack-ifit-treadmill-privilege-mode/amp ----- The more people that discover they cannot watch Netflix on their displays, can't exercise to other apps like Peloton, can't even play a RUclips video while running, biking, hiking... the public backlash may prove to be so strong that NordicTrack/ProForm/iFit may have to reverse course in order to regain the public's trust. Then again, maybe not, as new customers may never realize the pain felt by our community. Stay strong and have faith that this will work itself out.
Hi Nelson! The AT&T router I have does not allow users to block specific IP addresses (I see someone below asked about the AT&T fiber router as well). I blocked updates in the secret menu, but then if I factory reset to get privileged mode back, won’t that clear that secret menu setting and update to the latest version upon restart?
Emily, I am not certain if the secret menu will be able to totally disable all updates. But for sure you would be accessing the secret menu after you do a factory reset, not before.
Hi I have an X22I, skipped a software update and now it won't update to the current update available. Any way to accomplish this?? NT says the previous update is needed to get to the current one, what do u guys think?
Hi randl2000, have you tried any of the options from the Secret iFit menu? If all else fails try a factory reset. Plz come back and let us know if you were successful.
im thinking of buying x22i in the uk. I wonder if this recent update is preloaded into the android from new or it would update once I turn it on. if so whats the workaround this issue.
AsDirected, you pose excellent questions, unfortunately the only way to know for certain would be for someone that just recently bought an x22i in the UK, to respond to these comments. Regardless there must be a way to enter privileged mode as that would be the only way NordicTrack/ProForm would be able to configure the treadmill. Not to worry as my newest video - due out any day now - will provide alternative ways to run additional programs.

Trevor, that is an excellent question. I have not tried that yet. Wonder if someone will try and comment below. Otherwise, will have to put it on my list of things to try out. It would be awesome if the Secret iFit Options Menu provided us a shortcut to reinstall the iFit app and bring back privileged mode without having to do any extra configuration. 😉
As far as I can tell you cannot downgrade from that menu. You can only initiate the current version. And it will also update the firmware and admin application, effectively killing privelage mode again. The key here is turning off auto updates. So after following this process to get privelage mode back, get in there and turn off updates. Then you have yourself a really low end Android tablet, but good enough to have some fun if you know what you're doing.
Hi, by following these videos, how long is Privilege mode enabled for? I called to get my code but don't want to use it until i can see how this turns out and if there are more videos. Thank you so much you have no idea how helpful you are. i want to put zwift onto the tablet.
As long as you follow the steps to block the two iFit websites, you will keep privileged mode for as long as iFit keeps their current configuration. Even if and when iFit is changed, there are so many smart subscribers here on this channel that there will always be ways to access privileged mode and continue enjoying our smart machines to the fullest.
I appreciate the video I followed your others and had to call ifit to get the privileged mode number and turned everything recommend in my settings, but unfortunately when I turned my treadmill off and back on the next time I was kicked out of privilege mode :(. Any suggestions?

Travis, if you have the factory reset pinhole, then you don't have to call them. You only have to call if your machine does not have the reset pinhole.
That "USB UPDATE RESTRICTION ENABLED" Is to prevent someone trying to upload their own firmware and take complete control of the machine. There is an unpopulated USB header on the main board that a savvy person could simply solder a USB connector onto and sniff the traffic 🤫🤓
@@NelsonMunoz0714 Yeah, once you download the firmware you can alter it and reupload it to the device. Requires sniffing the USB traffic, there are videos on how to do it.
Hi OO7, I have heard from a handful of subscribers that have attempted to root the tablet, unfortunately no one was able to install iFit and get it working to control the machine again. There may be a way to gain full control but I have not tried for fear of bricking my treadmill. Would love to hear from someone that successfully rooted the tablet and was able to do a custom install of Android. I would post this on XDA. They may be able to find an old ifit app or firmware downgrade . Then the apk can be modded to prevent updates and the firmware can be locked on an older version.
Hi Arthur, thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I am not familiar with XDA? That would be awesome if someone had the knowledge to mod an apk file.
@Jeffrey Schriesheim , Yes, using a combination of Taskbar and Floating Apps should allow you to run them, even without privileged mode.
Again, just consider, no need to follow thru.
ive already went ahead and completed that task.
If you want the newer iFit updates check out my new video on How to install a Taskbar and Floating Apps. ruclips.net/video/XwtlMzBKgBQ/видео.html
Though you won't have privileged mode, you will still be able to install additional apps and have the most recent ifit software.

@@NelsonMunoz0714 The sites to block on your video 2 do not block the updates. Are there others to block that you have not mentioned?
My device comes with an older app 2.2 and does not have the console uuid and some other options are not present on that machine info page and thus I cannot enter secret mode. If I update I can access the secret menu but then I can only access the call customer service screen with the 10 taps method so I cant instal apps.
Purple, stay tuned for a video I am working on that will allow easy access to Privileged Mode and allow you to upgrade your iFit app.
How to get privileged mode?
@@NelsonMunoz0714 Thanks Nelson, that’s a bummer! I usually don’t turn my machines off.

The more people that discover they cannot watch Netflix on their displays, can't exercise to other apps like Peloton, can't even play a RUclips video while running, biking, hiking... the public backlash may prove to be so strong that NordicTrack/ProForm/iFit may have to reverse course in order to regain the public's trust. Then again, maybe not, as new customers may never realize the pain felt by our community. Stay strong and have faith that this will work itself out.
I cant get into the secret option mode if im not connected to wifi. How would i disable it so it doesnt auto update on connection..?
Dejan, you'll have to configure your router to block the two iFit websites, and then you'll be able to connect to Wi-Fi without worries.
@@NelsonMunoz0714 thanks nelson

Hi. Awesome work, thank you. Could you use the secret menu to reinstall iFIT and then would that bring privilege mode back? Cheers
@@aterryx, thanks for the info. I was hoping this may have been a shortcut for us to bypass the privileged mode code.
@@aterryx thanks for the reply. What you said makes sense. Shame, would have been handy. :-)

That code is dead the second you close out of that window. There is no reason to save it unless you are just sitting on the screen.
Kris, you are correct. The code is a one and done deal. It only works one time.
I appreciate the video I followed your others and had to call ifit to get the privileged mode number and turned everything recommend in my settings, but unfortunately when I turned my treadmill off and back on the next time I was kicked out of privilege mode :(. Any suggestions?
Travis, try the following...
To be on the safe side, you may also want to enable developer options and turn off android system updates. That would be an extra level of protection.

@@NelsonMunoz0714 thank you! I will give this a try, is this something I would need to call ifit again to get a privileged code first?
Travis, if you have the factory reset pinhole, then you don't have to call them. You only have to call if your machine does not have the reset pinhole.
That "USB UPDATE RESTRICTION ENABLED" Is to prevent someone trying to upload their own firmware and take complete control of the machine. There is an unpopulated USB header on the main board that a savvy person could simply solder a USB connector onto and sniff the traffic 🤫🤓
Adventure, sounds like something someone could do in order to hack the system?
@@NelsonMunoz0714 Yeah, once you download the firmware you can alter it and reupload it to the device. Requires sniffing the USB traffic, there are videos on how to do it.
Is it not possible to root the tablet and gain full control? And then truely wipe the tablet clean, install Android, and then install the ifit app.
Waiting for a disgruntled iFit software engineer to contact me at DoctorNT0714@gmail.com.
In the meantime, blocking iFit updates via your router should work. Have a new video that I am working on that blocks iFit updates without the need for router configurations. Look for that soon.
I was going to block IFit on my router (I might still do it) but I'll probably wait for your next video on how to do it without having to call I-Fit. I'm really curious how you'll do that! Drives me crazy not being able to cast my workouts to the big screen! grrrrr
Kirk, if you have a newer machine with a pinhole to do a factory reset, then you are all set. You can follow the instructions in this video series to do all the steps without having to call NordicTrack.
How are you going to use the browser if you block traffic to the machine?
@@AiMR I don't remember lol. I think I was talking about blocking updates. I don't use the browser. Everything has been great after installing the taskbar. Easy to cast my workouts to the TV.
How about Netgear router?
